I love how smug they are on the podcast about how well they were able to hide it and apparently ‘nobody guessed’ when it was chuffing obvious and we’re all just a lot more attuned to the idea that you don’t ask someone and wait to be told.

Also agree not rushed at all, they’ve been together a decade and originally planned to get married last year so potentially are even already behind their original plan if they intended to try as soon they were married.

smug is a good word for it

it just seems bizarre to me, because she comes across as so immature. If I listened to her podcast and didn’t kno anything else about her, I’d assume she was a very sheltered 22 year old. I just don’t get any maternal or caring vibes from her at all.

I reckon if you were at a house party with Em and Alex, shed be quiet to start with but after a few drinks would be talking over everyone really loudly and getting into a heated debate about something when all everyone wants to do is have a nice time.

meanwhile her hubby would be THAT guy who gets a guitar out and starts singing (off key, obvs)

Eds got nothing to worry about ! 🙄

And maybe no body guessed because nobody actually cares that's she's pregnant..

And wasn't it mentioned on here weeks back that she was pregnant? So people had "guessed"

Her latest post was so bizarre… very woe is me. Like, why does she feel the need to apologise? It’s not like everyone was sitting at home with baited breath to wait for the next insta story for Em.

and the stuff she did put out, was her big standard stuff anyway? The symprove ads etc.

some influencers have such a weird mindset when it comes to social media, like a totally warped view of how non-influencers actually use it, they get so wrapped up in themselves when most people don’t give two figs and no real boundaries.

Hasn’t she always posted looking like this is some form? The jaw surgery 18 month recovery? She loves a self deprecating selfie.

She’s been being…quiet?! For months??
Nothing more nauseating than these pathetic woe is me posts.

Women all over the world have morning sickness but still manage to go out to work and function like an adult not lie in bed taking ridiculous selfies....she has no idea what is ahead once this baby arrives- time to grow up!

Most women have to get up and go to work whilst pregnant.

Poor old Emily has to lay in bed whinging on Insta

Yep, it’s been a few days and it’s already her entire content apart from the old reliable symprove.

it honestly looks so sad, she’s coming across like a teen who thinks pregnancy is just one big insta experience to be used for content, and babies are just cute props. Except bringing a baby into the world is creating and shaping a whole person, capable of their own complex thoughts, feelings and psyche. Morning sickness and not fitting into clothing are - shocker - common side effects of pregnancy.

She’s copying her dad with the self depreciation btw - it was a formula that worked for him, and her mother was his manager for years and arguably the the reason he has a media career at all. Plus Em has her own management. Em knows exactly what she’s doing. For someone who claims to want to be their own person, she sure is very adept at copying the self depreciating jokes, loud opinionated abrasive style and putting herself at the forefront of emotive issues/ behaving like a social warrior that will allow her to build a loyal following - her dad went for the daily mail reading, car loving (now country living) crowd. Basically the well off, middle aged man. Em has made her target audience the socially conscious Gen Zers.

the self depreciation is part of the formula to build her brand. The outrage posts adopting social issues? All part of her branding to inspire engagement and build followers - people like feeling outraged. When we are outraged about an injustice, we get a high out of the feeling plus we are able to feel morally superior - another high. It’s a common strategy adopted by “talent” agencies to help their clients - they are advised to post “informative” reels with a “call to action” and “funny and relatable reels” to grow. (I know someone who signed up to one, plus a lot of them post these strategies on insta as well if you look into the IG coach corner of the gram)

Em’s content follows this advice to a T.

100% she’ll be using this baby/pregnancy to expand her target audience and will try and get at the front of the yummy mummy insta crowed. So predictable, so sad.

this is all for easy money and online valuation. What a life.

Ok so this thread has been interesting . I actually enjoy the pod cast should I delete that , but mainly for em and not for Alex . Alex comes across as some entitled rich girl who tries too hard . I think Em is quite funny on it.
However , I do find her annoying on social media and a part of me died a little finding out she was pregnant ....we all know the whole insta mum thing is coming with her . With all the gifted items and love your mum tum etc yet she doesn’t work fulltime and lives and has lived a privileged life off the back off her dad .

I’m 50/50 on her , I like the silliness and the awkward situations she talks about and she does make me smile . But seeing the stuff on here is making me think .

also the page 3 stuff above, I don’t agree with it being degrading , you see more on a beach . Boobs do not offend me and if I didn’t wanna look at page three , I wouldn’t buy the paper . The suns page three girls had to have natural boobs and were girl next door with top off . Much more relatable than the insta photoshopped, FaceTuned influencers you see now getting off to Turkey every month for bbls etc .
Just my opinion but , as women we shouldn’t tear someone down for posing with top off . Tits aren’t offensive lol or degrading .

Just giving my two cents here, it's not someone posing topless or someone's body that bothers me about p3, it's more the context. It's the inclusion of sexualised images of women with something you'd read with your morning coffee. I remember the discomfort as a child of someone reading it next to you on the bus (those days seem to be over) or my dad trying to hide the photo from me if there was an article about Doctor Who on the other side gave the whole situation a really creepy feel.

Nothing wrong with nudity or glamour modelling imo, but why is it available in a morning newspaper?

When i said rushed having the baby, I didn’t mean it in terms of how long they’ve been together. I meant it as I didn’t expect it so soon as em didn’t strike me as someone eager to become a mum yet. I thought they’d wait a few years. She just doesn’t strike me as the mum type.

tits aren’t degrading, tits are beautiful. it’s the dehumanisation and commoditisation of women by reducing them to a sexual object, which then feeds into how wider society views and treats women.

considering this was on a daily newspaper, people were looking at a naked female body, objectified and sexualised on the regular. How is that healthy? And if it’s so healthy why was there never a male p3?

Em was writing it because 1. She had a poor role model form her father, who has faced accusations of sexism and 2.Em was sucking up to the sun because they, being the rag they are, were the only newspaper to pick up her dreary article.

Yeah I agree. And at the end of the day nobody is forcing women to pose naked for Page 3 - they may feel empowered by it or it might just pay their bills. But not everything needs to be degrading against women. Men are sexualised all the time in the media too these days.

It feels similar to something I remember hearing Sandi Toksvig say when she spoke openly about being a feminist yet in the same sentence berated Little Mix for doing shows in clothes that showed their bodies and skin as apparently it shows men are sexualising them - ever thought maybe they want to be sexy? Ever thought maybe women actually like to show their bodies?
And I actually think it is very positive for children and young adults to see women show their bodies in a confident way - we do not need to hide ourselves anymore incase we offend someone. That is want anti feminists want!!

Also it’s so easy to just quickly file past page 3 if it does offend you that much lol

Back when page 3 was at its most salacious and popular, it was just accepted, didn’t make it right but it was accepted. The women were well paid and became celebrities and the likes of Jordan and Sam Fox are still known for it now.

Isn't onlyfans just a modern version of page 3 ?

On the men/p 3 thing, there was a 'page 10 men' section at one point. I don't think it was that popular so they binned it eventually. If I want to be titillated at naughty pics, I just wouldn't go to a newspaper for that.

OnlyFans seems way more porn-focused than glamour modelling, and it seems like the models on there would have more control over who sees what, when and for how much. I appreciate there's nuance there because of the nature of the platform, e.g. they almost pulled all the adult content off there at one point. It's much harder to view OnlyFans by accident, whereas people leave copies of The Sun all over the place and it's much cheaper to obtain anyway.

Re natural bodies on p3, is it confirmed that they definitely didn't use any kind of editing on the photos? I thought it was industry practise to at least remove blemishes etc. I agree that it's a far cry from the hyper-fake images of insta and the like.

This isn’t the place to a debate on whether or not p.3 is ok. Women being “sexy” isn’t the same as being sexualised or “being sexy” through a male gaze. That isn’t women being in tune with their own sexuality, it’s pandering to male ideals of female sexuality, and it’s so pervasive that ven on this thread some people can’t understand the difference.

there were very good reasons why nuts magazine was discontinued, why p.3 was removed.

And the point was, em claims to be a feminist, she uses it as her own branding. And it’s distinctly at odds with views she’s expressed in the past, when it suited her to pander to the sun.

the point isn’t the debate of how wrong p3 was or is - the point is that Em is a hypocrite.

Back when page 3 was at its most salacious and popular, it was just accepted, didn’t make it right but it was accepted. The women were well paid and became celebrities and the likes of Jordan and Sam Fox are still known for it now.

1. for every model to launch a career for it, there were hundreds who didn’t
2. It wasn’t well paid
3. Women on only fans are in total control of their own content and images, as well as the finances from it. P3 models had zero control over how they were photographed, what happened to their photographs and were subject to a largely male editorial team.

I completely respect all your opinions on p3 , I just feel we shouldn’t demonise women for posing top less and monetising off it . The sport is more explicit and I just don’t buy it , it’s not aimed at me lol With the sun the girls were unedited back in the day and boobs were natural , I remember seeing a model with stretch marks on her hip and was like wow I have them too . Rather than the airbrushed pics of celebs at the time , now Instagram models editing their pics . Boobs are fabulous , there was a good range of small boobs and big boobs , they also had a plus size page three called Lucy vixen who looked amazing and v popular with fans etc .
I test shot for page three myself , I felt safe and I never once felt pressured . They used to operate a “woman only” closed set and no men allowed . I didn’t make the cut but I found the whole experience to be empowering and liberating . But that’s just my opinion , I’m sure it would be others worst nightmare lol

I agree that you cannot be a feminist in being pro woman in one sentence and in the next , bashing other women’s career or appearance choices . Men are gonna sexualise women whether clothes are on or off . I’ve never felt vulnerable on a photoshoot but I’ve felt scared for my life in public being cat called or followed when I’m fully clothed in public etc

we need to look at the misogyny of men here rather than bash women . However ,every single person is entitled to their opinion and that’s why I bloody love tattle ❤
