This always gets me. Rick had to have known all her damages from the Joe disaster and was slimy enough to take advantage of all of them to pull off his plan. Or, maybe he just was too deluded to think he needed to have his tit together a little more to go for an 'Elle'?

I mean imagine her sauntering down the streets of Yaletown in the prime of her Joe days. I would think your average dude on the street doing a double take would have figured he's at least need something better than a mattress on the floor before he could expect to be getting with girls like that.

I think Rickets thinks so highly of himself, his eloquence, his knowledge of useless phrases in foreign languages, that he doesn't even realize that his partner may have some expectations that go beyond listening to a word salad and sharing one coffee. If you think about his worn out Indiana Jones outfits which he sported on that infamous cross-country trip he took with Smelle, you can tell he's convinced he's the most handsome and stylish dude around.
I don't want to come across as superficial but for god's sake, he was walking around New Orleans in an outfit suitable for a jungle trek. I'm not saying he should have donned Givenchy head to toe but...
My point is he's so self-absorbed that if something doesn't bother him (not owning a bed frame, using bed risers as TV stand, wearing decade-old t-shirts etc.), he doesn't think it would bother anyone. So that's why he probably didn't think he needs to 'try harder' for Smelle.

And Smelle has proven to him that he doesn't. Not only was she ok with his personality, pompous word salad, and lifestyle, she even gave up hers in order to be a part of his life. All of this just to have a man propose. Smelle decided that the bar was in hell and Rickets took advantage of it.

Lol Elle would be completely oblivious to the fact that everyone is giving her looks as she struts around the city talking about how at home she feels. It would be just like the Vancouver days when you would see people in the background of her video eyeing her.

Egg freezing journey and sharing her dating woes would actually make highly engaging content, but I don't think Elle wants to share anything that paints her in an unflattering light. I see nothing wrong with a woman taking charge of her own fertility and struggling to meet the right man, but you just know that Elle hates that idea. She wouldn't want to share too many things that she can't brag about. I think growing up in a single parent home was only shared with us because she never had a dad to talk about in her videos, and it garnered her a lot of sympathy while making her birth dad look bad, because she said he never wanted to be a parent and has never tried to reach out to her. But if Elle admits that she hasn't been able to get married despite her many desperate attempts and time is now running out, it would seem like she was the problem and she'd never be ok with that.

I totally agree. Smelle lives to brag and get compliments. She wants to present herself to the world as this put-together businesswoman with a masters degree who can cook, loves to take care of herself, likes to entertain, knows how to make money, travels in luxury etc. Her ideal persona was what she was showing in her vlogs during Joe days - getting up at 6 am to get her makeup done, eating breakfast made by her boyfriend, strutting to work, getting her hair done at lunchtime, heading to a charity event/gym class after work and returning home to cook a meal, followed by working on her side business/relaxing with her boyfriend. If you are so perfect, it isn't quite easy to admit that actually, having a face full of caked-on makeup, a pyramid of hair sprayed curls, a designer bag, still don't get you a partner of your dreams and a potential father to your children.

Her channel has never been about honestly. It's always been some form of illusion, a theatre of what an ideal young career woman's life should look like according to Smelle. Some sort of adjusted SATC less wacky outfits and elusive Mr Big (Smelle preferred to secure dorky but financially promising men).
Even those who started watching her for work wear ideas quickly caught up with the fact that working 9-5 in a cubicle job doesn't exactly buy you three Chanel bags a year and a new Le Labo candle every week.

While I try not to virtue signal or hall monitor what people say here (because that’s extremely annoying ), I wish the autism speculations would stop. She prevaricates from the truth multiple times which already disqualifies her from being autistic.

Being with a woman tho…I don’t think Elle has any inkling of being a lesbian or bi, but even if she did she’d probably suppress those feelings considering how badly she wants to be a Stepford wife. It wouldn’t fit that perfect 1950s home life she so desperately wants.

As far as freezing her eggs, I agree that she would have a lot of shame over that even though it’s not a big deal at all. Who knows, maybe she’s doing already it and isn’t telling anyone.

I don’t think Elle’s biological dad gives her any type of financial support according to the fact that Elle is a working woman and is not a minor anymore (don’t know how that works in the US). AND Ginette doesn’t work. Even if she inherited, I think we all know that unless you invest or whatever : money doesn’t last like that for years. And don’t tell me Elle is smart with her money and has some type of savings (she has a shopping addiction that is scary sometimes). So : where is that coming from? Looks like it is growing on trees or something. Maybe Elle’s business is way more successful than we think ?! It is giving me secret escort life type of vibes I swear ! But I don’t judge them if it is really what’s happening..!

I definitely think Elles dad gave Ginette a large sum of hush money that allowed Ginette to move to New York and than Vancouver. Ginette got into real estate at the right time and held on to those assets for long enough for a nice return. I also think Elle comes from a very small family and so all money from her Grandmas business (I think Elle mentioned she had a shop in Belgium) went to Elle and Ginette. But you are right Elle is not a saver and the money will not last forever if she is not making smart investments. There is a difference between being rich and wealthy. Elle is rich but not wealthy. She may have all the things in the world but once the money is spent its gone. Building wealth is different, you make a sacrifice to not spend money in order to have money in the future.

I'm going to base this guess on stereotypes of people I see from working in healthcare. But Elle 100 percent comes off like one of those women who doesn't go to get check ups, regular health monitoring. So I'm going to guess she hasn't frozen her eggs.

People like Elle are more concerned about spending money on clothes and looking good. Regularly gets her nails done but doesn't want to take the time for a yearly check up, blood work etc. Since she is in the states now, egg retreival and storage can be expensive. Like a chanel bag expensive and Elle wouldn't be able to brag about it. Egg stimulation can be really hard and unpleasant I can't imagine Elle would pay for the drugs and want to inject them.

Most other bloggers I watch mention in passing appointments with physicians, dentists, optometrists etc. And I don't recall Elle saying much other than when she went to the orthodontist to get her teeth fixed (which I'm assuming her mom paid for).

I def think if she talked about freezing her eggs that would be a good relatable thing for her to share but Elle is convinced that proposal is always 6 months away and why go spend a lot of time and money and pain to freeze eggs when in her mind she'll just be getting pregnant (in her idealized mind) in the next year.
