I'm also confused about how they go their visas. US visas are incredibly hard to get - you have to interview and fill in reams of paperwork (that in itself feels beyond these two!). I'm wondering if it was the US visa lottery as that's the only viable way I can think of for these two!

Elle said in her latest video that if you are worried about something you should research it, and she claimed knife crime is higher in London than gun crime in Houston. I couldn't find a direct comparison but a quick search threw up your chances of being hospitalised through knife crime in London is 10.1 people per 100k Residents. Your chances of being Killed in Houston by guns were 16.1 deaths per 100k residents. Who is she getting her research from, Katie Hopkins? 🤔
She’s really clutching at straws here, they aren’t really comparable tbh. A knife you have to be near someone to stab them, there’s a chance you could defend yourself whereas with a gun they could be meters away and just shoot you! You could be in your car, in your house. Not to mention the damage a gun can do, one shot and you could be dead. Also surely you are far more likely to be caught up in a shooting just based on how many people you can kill with one gun! The horrific stabbing attack in Sydney recently was just awful but imagine how many more victims there would’ve been if he had a gun instead of a knife! She didn’t even live in London anyway 😅

It would have been more accurate to compare the statistics for Bath and Texas as those are the two places they have a connection with.
I am enjoying watching Caroline Parker as she moves back to the UK from the US with her American husband and 3 children. She says it’s hard to make friends where she lives as all the children either have a nanny or are in childcare. Everyone drives everywhere so you don’t just go out for a walk or to a park/soft play and make friends. That being said, her main reason for moving back is the issues with guns, particularly having to do gun drills in school. Her children are all young (6 and under). It’s just an interesting contrast watching someone go the other way and their reasons why.

I get there is violence and crime whether in the UK or USA. But for me, gun crime scares me more. For example the thought of some crazed man walking in a restaurant armed with a gun while I was eating with my kids is just horrific! To be shot and killed sitting there...a total sitting duck!!! At least with knife crime it's easier to disarm the perpetrator. I'm not saying at all knife crime isn't awful or deadly- I just think for me the thought with a gun is that you really don't have much of a chance do you?.
I find it slightly naive that elle and Connor think that if you live in a nice area that it most probably won't happen to you. Of course there is some truth to that, I suppose the threat gang and drug related violence declines but they clearly have no clue that alot of these shooting are because of a decline in mental health resources. You could have the nicest of suburbs and get some kid suffering with MH and walk in and do a shooting spree. Take Eliot Rodgers for example. That's what's scary.
The thing that always worried me about moving to the US is the thought of my little boy having to do active shooter drills, I just don't think I could. Imagine explaining why they have to do this? Something else for theor little brain to be scared of and process. To drop him off and wonder if he will be safe? That really is a horrible thought. If I was elle I'd be researching every single school and asking about their security and what meausre they put in place. I'd have done that months in advance of the move and most probably moved to the best school I could possibly find.

Il post this link which is eye opening- https://www.washingtonpost.com/education/interactive/school-shootings-database/

This shows the schools where a firearm has been used. Of course we've all heard of the big shootings like sandy hook. But this shows the cases where it doesn't hit the news.

Of course there is violence here, when my son grows up il be scared of knife crime in schools.
But here are some statistics taken from The Sandy Hook Promise website

Each day 12 children die from gun violence in America. Another 32 are shot and injured.1

Since the shooting at Columbine High School in 1999, more than 338,000 students in the U.S. have experienced gun violence at school.

In 2022, 34 students and adults died while more than 43,000 children were exposed to gunfire at school.4 There is help for victims and survivors of gun violence.

An estimated 4.6 million American children live in a home where at least one gun is kept loaded and unlocked.  These improperly stored weapons have contributed to school shootings, suicides and the deaths of family members, including infants and toddlers.6

So I don't know if elle and Connor have done this move armed with research, I really understand there's violence everywhere and I'm not saying don't move to America! America is wonderful in so many ways, I just don't think as with most things with these 2, they paint a picture that isn't always the truth. They seem very naive and immature to alot of things. It seems like this move is just based on a whim.

I find the US school gun crime numbers absolutely shocking and unbelievable. Like I know it’s real but it takes my breath away to read about it and I just can’t compute 🤯 why oh why would anyone move to America with small kids.

She’s so beyond selfish, I’m sure Katie had to lose her mum at an even younger age than Elle just so that Elle could move to America 🤦🏻‍♀️ and saying she wouldn’t have left her mum behind but she’s made Con leave his mum behind!

My interpretation of it was "out of darkness comes light". Elle's mum dying was a terrible situation that no one would ask for, but it gave Elle the impetus to follow her dream, so led to something positive. It gave her an element of closure with her mum's death.

Money can get you anywhere. They definitely got the special skills visa and paid a lawyer a ton to make it work

Yeah I think people might be taking this a bit too literally. Obviously she would rather her Mum still be here.

I think that was the sentiment she was trying to get across, but in true Elle style she manipulated the narrative of how the therapist was trying to help her process the move to the USA in relation to her Mum passing away and the end product of her justifying her reasons for pursuing her dream of moving to the USA was because its Elle’s World and everyone else just lives in it.

Yes I do agree with that. But I also feel like it was tone deaf in regards to Katie and her grief journey and also in regards to Connor and his family.
I get you have to find a positive in every negative situation but I did feel for Katie when she was saying it all

You can tell that in their most recent video, she is so much more reluctant to share than Connor. I honestly think Connor would happily go into detail about the visa etc but it’s her that’s against it because she’ll know the backlash she’ll receive for getting awarded one based on ‘special skills’

Exactly this.

She is so smug and it is unbearable to me that she's telling her influenced followers that the type of visa they got was obtained through spending money. The video that just went up basically outlined how much it costs, so you can do it too. She does not at all suggest that this I
Visa is unobtainable to many, regardless of funds

The way Elle smiles and smirks when she talks about her grief. I’ve always felt sorry for her grief, but I feel like she almost loves to talk about it for attention. She seems to justify it as the reason why she’s making all of these erratic decisions

with the uk fitness influencers I’ve seen moving to the US recently I’m beginning to think the US is dishing out visas like Oprah used to dish out cars. “You get a visa”, “you get a visa” 😂 It’s boggled my mind how they’ll all got in when it’s supposedly so hard for influencers to get visas. Moving to the US has become the new UK influencer trend.

(No offence to any Texans here) but in every story or photo they’ve uploaded of Houston, it just looks as grey and cloudy as it is in the UK!

Probably not the aesthetic she was hoping for

Them walking by that lake made me shudder. Gators can pop up at any time unexpected and they are so quick!. I don't know if there are any in that lake. But I know a lot of people on here have mentioned them too.

Yea I’ve seen a few do it, Holly B Fitness has done it this year as well and she literally does fitness content….she said she used a company that someone told her about that specialises in influencer visas, so I assume Elle and Connor have done the same somehow!

Matt & Summer have just moved to the US & explain how they got their O1 visa which is for 3 years. They set up a new company in the US & that company is sponsoring them to live & work there. This is probably what Elle & Con did, but unlike them, Matt said he would do an indepth video about it because he wants to share opportunities that are out there for those interested. Unlike Elle who keeps this info for herself. She is such a great influencer sharing useless info like what Tex Mex food is .
