I like her university journey and aesthetics she presents, plus she's been showing the struggles too. But it has changed somewhat and gone very sparse (one video every other month?). I'm kinda bummed! Plus, I don't think Tübingen will live up to Cambridge in terms of aesthetics. I'm bummed she didn't choose to continue at Cambridge...
An LLM at Cambridge is £21,500 in fees if you are a Home student or £37,500 if you are Overseas (which Elena may be considered as being, due to Brexit, it depends). That's without living costs - Cambridge is one of the most expensive cities in the UK outside of London. Plus she's very near her family in Tübingen, I think they're in Stuttgart.

She just posted this on her stories an in-depth bts of Youtube and this.

Seeming like you’re here, keep up the good work! If you snoop around on the other threads, you are the only studytuber people praise anymore. In literally every oher studytuber’s threads, your name comes up as the person to watch now. I’ve literally never seen any hate for you anywhere and for good reason!
Hahaha I saw that too! Welcome Elena 😂😊

One or her uni vlogs was in my YouTube recommendations a few months ago and I subbed after watching a few more. She seems like a nice girl

Thank you!

I just feel like she is producing lots and lots of content on TikTok so I don't think it's that she doesn't have anything to say. She even has a whole podcast on TikTok in which she is talking lots.

Yes, it's her decision of course and I still like her. It is nothing personal. It just feels weird how she would go from 100% in English to 95% percent in German. I speak German but if I didn't I would feel pretty sad I think. Many people have followed her for years and she basically left them without even a goodbye or a thank you.

I think she would be familiar with English slang as she has been taught exclusively in English since the age of sixteen, for six years.

I don't know if a translation would make sense because it is so much slang, but she used to greet people in a sweet and friendly way "Hi everyone, it's Elena" and now she's basically like "Hey hotties, whazzzupppp yayyyy" (not exactly as slang is hard to translate but she calls people "Schnecken" which literally means "snails" and is a slang term for a hot/attractive girl). Maybe she wants to appeal to a younger TikTok audience.

Again, I love her still, it is just so confusing to me.

She‘s probably trying to establish herself in the German community? And she said she enjoys it more. I agree it is a bit mean towards every non-German follower.

Side note but I saw the books she wanted to read in 2022 and I now wonder whether she truly reads some of them. The War of Two Queens (and the whole From Blood and Ash Series) is most definitely not YA.

seems like she actually has interests and hobbies that don't have to do with studying so that a nice break from some other studytubers, imo

She’s going to think you are me because I DM’ed her almost exactly the same thing yesterday! 😂 ... so perhaps I just blown my cover but oh well 🤭

It’s astounding really, how her (and PaigeY) seem to be the only two, people like.

Yes, she does. I mean she calls him "her crush" so not 100% sure but I think so. I am really happy for her.

I have been following her for a few years and really like her. She seems sweet and genuine.

She does lots of extracurriculars, she listed them all in a video she made once. I think she just doesn't show them that much which is fine. I also wouldn't want to walk into my extracurriculars with a camera to be honest so I understand her.

People are always quick to say stuff like "all she ever does is study" and "she has no friends" etc. but in reality who would really film their friends or their extracurriculars all of the time? Many people don't want to be on social media and many organizations (that people could work for or volunteer at) would probably not allow it.

I think she has a nice group of friends (from what I can see in her posts and vlogs), lots of extracurriculars and (probably) a boyfriend.

No, she said once that she wants to keep her future plans private for now but she also said that she does want to do a postgraduate's degree in her Q+A. So I guess she will stay in school. Maybe she will switch to Germany as her crush seems to be German too? But not sure.

I hope she doesn't quit youtube she is one of the few people I love to watch. I loved Astrid Francizska but she deleted her account. PaigeY seems nice but I can't really get into her vlogs too much. Ruby Granger seems sweet. Holly doesn't work for me even though she seems nice. Jade annoys me a little even though I am sure she is nice too. Watched Eve Bennett for a bit but not really my cup of tea. But if you can recommend anyone to me let me know.

I'm so confused about Elena's political stance. Sometimes she expresses more liberal views, other times she comes across as more conservative. I know she's said that she considers herself to be right-wing, but I don't know much about german politics, and left/right-wing beliefs differ greatly from country to country. An opinion that in one place is considered left-wing would be considered right-wing in other places. So I don't know what "right-wing" means in Germany. But I was quite surprised to hear that Elena votes for a conservative party. That's not the impression I had of her.
Germany currently has one extreme right wing party, lib dems (right-middle) christian-conservative (right-middle) (the latter two are basically our “tories”) a “labour” party (middle-left), greens (middle-left to left) and a left wing party.
Hope that helps a bit. Where did you hear how
she voted?

Exactly, her viewers watch her mid-roll youtube ads etc, and have given her the platform she has, so she could just acknowledge the shift and thank them for their support.

hi elena!

i've DM'd you several times on IG and you seem a very approachable person, taking into consideration your large following (i've spoken also to astrid franciszka and asked her about mental health issues in her last youtube live and she seems very nice as well!)
i must say that i admire that you cancelled your 'erasmus' and chose to remain stuttgart. most studytubers *COUGH* eve bennett, *COUGH* unjaded jade *COUGH* chose to travel abroad despite the restrictions and the pandemic, which i find very selfish and idiotic!

also, you made a couple of videos on the microsoft surface you were gifted, which is great (most influencers just mentioned it on a video and then the laptop was nowhere to be seen again, lol)

however, i maintain my opinion about your video on 'gifted children'. be careful about your wording, perhaps it was because i didn't know you yet, but it came across (at least to me) as a bit arrogant, maybe i'm wrong
PS: feel free to open an account on tattle and discuss with us any issue or criticism you may find. we don't bite! (yet haha)

A German Youtuber who studies law at Cambridge and gotten popular because of her Cambridge Vlogs (and then when she did 4 hour long live-study sessions on youtube pretty much every weekday during quarantine).

Generally a very nice girl who spends a bit too much of her time studying and occasionally gets quite a lot of hate (for no reason imo).

I must say I'm very dissapointed with Elena and her turn to speaking only German. I've been following her since she started and supported all her media outlets and right now I don't understand anything. I don't understand why she doesn't want to put english translation below the german words. I can't help but think that somehow her bf influenced this switch, maybe it's a big coincidence but maybe not. Her yt channel is also very quiet.
Isn't Elena coming up to her finals now? She's probably got a lot on. I suspect that using English worked for her while she was a studytuber but now that she's about to graduate she is maybe pivoting her channel and content.

Yeah her voice was a lot deeper and her sense of humour was different. Like you say not in a bad way, she actually seemed more mature and confident maybe, but it's not what I was expecting. I still enjoyed it though!

THIS. I can't understand why she couldn't even do that. It's not like it would take so much effort or something. Just a simple thank you/goodbye. The way she handled it was so rude and snobbish, and I wish she saw this conversation and finally said something. Like, I just don't understand it. It would take ZERO effort to post a story or a post talking about it. That's what most people with a big audience and basic courtesy would do. It's like she *wanted* to show us that she doesn't give a damn about her english-speaking audience, now that she's got a german boyfriend. I mean, it sounds harsh but that's how it felt like.
She's acting like a 14 yo who got her first bf and changes her entire personality around him

Her new video is up. Is it just me or has her way of speaking changed completely? It's like listening to a different person. Not better or worse, just different.

This girl needs braces
She needs to grow a chin as well.

This.

You pretty much said everything I was going to say. Elena clearly works extremely hard given the circumstances.

Also the whole "she reads YA/she has mainstream interests" thing is such a bizarre point to make. I'm literally starting my PhD in English soon, and amongst all the literary fiction and classics I read... I also read YA and even children's literature for crying out loud. People are allowed to have nuance in their tastes.

Also, I seem to recall her saying that she thrifts a lot of her designer pieces, but I might be recalling this wrong? I mean, undoubtedly they would still cost a packet but it's not quite the same as having brand new designer clothes every month.
Hi Elena :)

Even if she thrifts designer stuff, that "thrifted" stuff is expensive! They are not going to have Valentino shoes at a thirft store for less than 100 pounds/euro. Get outta here with that excuse. I remember her having multiples of new designer bags, shoes, clothes as well. Most college students are shopping at H&M and have zero designer bags. They also check out books at the library and dont continually buy books on Amazon or have their step/parents drop hundreds of euro on books in a single trip. "Working extremely hard"...I guess no one has told you that working hard doesn't get you exempt from coming across like you are holier than thou. Her channel is just a way for her to make a little side money and also serve as a vanity page on which she can brag about herself and her accomplishments on her insecure days. If you notice, she hardly has any real study tips on her channel that can actually help people. Her channel is more about what her grades are, her study vlogs (which literally take no effort to make...she is just lonely and lives an isolated life and wants to feel like she is studying with people), and outfits?? I dont know what trendy outfit/hair/fashion videos are doing on the channel of a so-called serious law student. It is embarrassing. And the types of books she reads are immature and have toxic male leads, yet she actually gushes over them and rates them highly. I hope that no young girls are watching her and thinking that this is what a typical law student looks like, and that her narcissistic behaviour is ok. Studying will serve you well, but only to a certain extent. It is also important to expand your horizons, develop your personality a bit, make friends, and embark on relationships. There is more to a person than just what grades they got at the end of a semester and what their outfits look like.

I have to agree with @vio. From the moment I first watched her, I had an impression that she is a girl who is trying to be and to come across as someone much more intelligent and talented than she really is. Which isn't necessarely a bad thing, but you can notice that she has a really low self esteem and she struggles to sustain this image she created about herself. I mean just the concept of having a youtube chanel where you brag about studying 10+ hours a day, getting perfectly styled every day, denying being privileged although it's clear that she is (bear in mind how expensive the application process is - even if her studies were fully funded, an average German family wouldn't be able to even pay for all the applications), it's not what really gifted young people do. I find her really immature too, her opinions and tastes are very mainstream, she neither has real, deep passions nor common sense (which also makes me think she grew up very rich and sheltered). I'm actually really sorry for this girl, even before she announced she had a depression, I suspected she would burn out very soon. I hope she will find her place in the world and someone who will love her for who she really is one day and that she will understand that life isn't about prooving to everyone that you are the most perfect person in the world. I'm really sorry for sounding harsh, but as a girl who has also been labeled as highly gifted from a young age and who had a stage in life when I was a bit like Elena, I feel really bad about her and the toxic philosophy of life she spreads.

She kinda blew up on tiktok in Germany, even when she made content in English on there, so switching that to German made sense to me - considering she is in Germany and had/has a mostly German audience (on tiktok), it's probably easier to get sponsorship deals if you make content in German. Her ig and yt just followed suit because her tiktok was most popular, or at least what she wanted to do most (?). I still think she could've gone about it differently though, like telling her English language audience more of what made her make the switch/what was going on!
