Sort of annoyed the Reddit thread is no longer live because I assume Disney gets the episodes first. I really enjoyed their live threads

Last night's episode wasn't bad mainly because Ruby and Conrad were back. For me Ruby has been the best overall character in the last 2 series. She's the only one I really care about. Belinda is OK but her personality hasn't been developed enough.

Ncuti disappointingly can't pull off acting 'straight' at all. There's plenty of gay actors who can do this but he's obviously not one of them. If you compare him being John Smith to when Tennant did it there's no competition. Tennant was able to appear as a totally different character to the doctor. Ncuti just doesn't have the same level of acting skills.

The new Rani is promising in the part but so far just a standard villain. I had no idea why she had chosen to steal a magical child and let Conrad's wishes come true. Why?
The visual effects were enjoyable again with the bright colours and skeletal walking dinosaurs.
Perhaps all will be explained next week when Mel recognises the Rani 🫠

Tennant when he did the flip between human John Smith and Timelord even in one sentence you could see his whole persona change in an instance. It was a great acting performance by Tennant. It was brilliant.

Ncuti is just always playing a version of himself, never even The Doctor.

I just find all the villains these last two series to be a bit naff, apart from Conrad, who is just deliciously awful.

Bigger isn't always better and all the Disney money and VFX budget in the world doesn't save crap writing and poorly developed characters. I'm even not at all happy about the Kate Stewart romance minor sub plot.

The ever attempting desire to make the series arc finale bigger than the last is not working. Because doctor who has ended and rebooted the universe as its series finale so many times now, it's tired as a device.

This whole arc is completely lost on me and my husband TBH because we grew up with 'modern' Dr Who and haven't watched any of the older series (and don't plan to).

I wonder how many others are feeling the same?

To be honest, the whole series has been lost on me full stop! Too many complicated storylines, too many references to previous episodes (even modern era Who) which, to the casual viewers, are meaningless. Just not enjoyed it at all and we have watched it religiously since Christopher Eccleston time 💁🏻

The references back are really weird when this is meant to be a new new Doctor Who from what I understand?

I dont mind the back references but I do agree with @StephenTJackson that Ncuti is not quite strong enough to carry it. I love him, I love his bounce and enthusiasm - I loved him as Eric in Sex education - I enjoyed Importance of Being Ernest when I saw it - but he just doesn't have the slight menace under the smile that Dr Who needs.

I have defended him against racists, and he is a good actor, just not quite good enough.

This is following Jody Whittaker and Peter Capaldi who were good enough actors, but who didn't have the decent scripts/direction.

I will continue to watch - I loved the Sylvester McCoy series - I wanted to be Ace so what do I know?

I thought the second half of the finale was so good and the gasp I gasped at the end! I'm sad Belinda is leaving as I liked her. Anita is defo one of my fav new characters of recent, and strangely I much prefer Ruby in this series then last. I would go as far to say they were both my two favourite characters in this episode. One thing I am confused by.

Isn't Rose (Donna's daughter) also part timelord? Why was that not explored more with what Rani was doing if so? It's a shame Rose only have a few lines as she's a fab actress in Heartstopper!

It's all just so bleeping ridiculous.

Total style over substance for a storyline finale. That just was paper thin on actual plot and just seemed to bumble about it's resolution. All felt very unsatisfying. The story tried to be too big and it was a flop for me. Keep it simple, a series finale is a big bad villain trying to blow tit up and the Doctor manages today destroy them somehow. We don't need multiverse destroying universe level complications.

Ncuti Gatwa arguably made it all worse because he just did a load of screaming and jumping around and was just playing Ncuti Gatwa and never felt like The Doctor.

Jodie Whittaker turning up was a nice little surprise.

Billie Piper as the next Doctor is just absurd for me. It is just a sign of Russell having zero ideas left. The whole show desperately needs a rest. BUT I don't actually believe they will be the next Doctor, because they weren't credited as The Doctor in the end credits. They just needed to film some kind of regeneration because Ncuti was leaving and they didn't know if the show was continuing. The Bad Wolf/Rose will just be an interim in some way Russell hasn't yet worked out how to justify until an actual new Doctor is cast.

The Jodie Whittaker to David Tennant was originally just seeing Jodie regenerated with a 'To be continued' and no DT, but then RTD returned and decided to pop in DT for a rating boost.

They need to have the doctor again in same outfit not all these interchangeable ones that’s Dr Who. The finale was a bit scrambled to me and he seemed to overcome Omega a bit too easily

I really hope Billy Piper is a interim thing

Omega was a total waste of a villain considering they were defeated easier than it would be to defeat a slitheen in a chip shop.

just got back from seeing the two parter at the cinema and it was so lovely to see a full cinema!

omega was definitely wasted as he was hyped so much and just casual ate the Rani? lol!! lovely to see Matt and Jodie make an appearance! Anita from the hotel! love their relationship! very suprized how hush hush they've kept everything!

it'll be interesting and looking forward to billie's taken on the doctor!

satisfied ending but I still don't believe Belinda's universe is the same one at the end from the one she left 👀 might have to rewatch the series! certainly one of my fav series for a long time!
