I feel the BIB in my very soul 😂 I have found deciding “no” on stuff very freeing. Isn’t it funny how you would have worn this to death at one time, but now we can afford it we’re like “ummm I’ve been out out twice this year” 😆
Twice more than me. I'm gagging for a night out but evidently I have no friends

I’m really struggling with it because I feel like if I say something it makes it really uncomfortable for everyone involved, if I don’t say something and I like the person I feel bad for them that so many people they walk past will be judging them negatively, but if I don’t say something and I dislike the person I feel like they get to be smug and give their own ego a boost thinking they got away with it. Wearing a “birkin” to soft play and acting like the cat who got the cream really rubs me up the wrong way
So we went for a lovely group dinner and bowling session at the weekend, and while at bowling (this was about 10:30pm on a saturday night lol thrilling lives we live I know) there was these couple of girls dripped in fake designer, and one of them had a fake kelly in the most off colour it wasn't even worth pretending it was real 😂 Really wanted to cry for her and tell her to spend her money at primark instead tbh
(not knocking primark bc I shop there too ofc 😂)

Thank you for your input! Hope you’re enjoying your new beauty. I love the watch with tennis bracelet. Very elegant.
I think the VC Alhambra bracelets look better on their own.
I am looking to get a 28mmLady date just in steel & white gold. It’s the dials colour I am so uncertain as I want diamonds. Bracelet preferably oyster as I want a more relaxed everyday watch.
Thank you lovely x

I love my new watch! But I’ve been quite cautious about wearing it out. Sad really, but now I want a more wearable every day watch 🤣

I have another Rolex, similar to the watch you’re describing, it’s a vintage 26mm oyster perpetual. Not sure if I’ve shared it here before but I’ve attached a pic. It’s in the two-tone, with diamonds and an oyster bracelet 🙂 I’d highly recommend a smaller dial for every day and diamonds if it like a bit of bling. I hope you get your watch!

In summary - British women continue to yearn for stylish quality basics, brands continue to choose to ignore us 😂
This is so it! I’ve recently found a brand called stripe and stare where they do plain t-shirts in all the colours of the rainbow, same with underwear etc, and it’s good quality cotton. You can argue primark, M&S etc do that but it’s either polyester mix or the range isn’t wide enough?

I second the LV but i am a massive LV fan!! My biggest regret is not buying my Speedy 35 in 2010 when it was £410 😭 think it was around the £800 mark when I got it. And the price keeps creeping up!

Great bag, a classic LV piece, very practical and roomy.

Everything’s too expensive is the issue
Agreed, from what I’ve seen (so not all the market by any stretch!) price rises have done a major number on performance. I know there’s a lot to be said for branding etc but idk, there’s also a lot to be said about brands understanding their markets & the state of the economy.

Rates are apparently due to go up after months of rumours of them dropping this year so it’ll only get worse (at least in the UK).

Lol my boyfriend keeps saying to me “Are you sure you want a Van Cleef for Xmas cos it’ll delay me proposing for — months” ok so when are we getting it ??? I don’t think he realises that’s a perfectly fine trade off
Tell him proposing isn’t a Christmas present so that’s not an excuse to not give you both 😉

Hi Enablers

Hope we're all well.

Has anyone bought any high end bags recently? What are we thinking on quality these days? I've just received the YSL Le 5 a 7 (which is bloody gorgeous) however I have to return it and exchange it for another as the SAINT LAURENT stamp on the metal buckle isn't quite right. The stamp is faded/not deep enough in the middle of the word LAURENT - as if it's not been pushed down into the metal enough. Net a Porter are sending a replacement but even bloody so. It's a nearly £2k bag and the stamping isn't consistent! It's got me thinking as the Celine Ava I ordered also had a quality issue - the poppers on the shoulder strap were incredibly difficult to pull apart to adjust and I couldn't actually get all 4 of them to push back together again.

These are expensive bags and I'm shocked at such basic quality control failures.
My most recent is an Hermes GP and honestly so happy with the quality. I’d got a couple of slg from Saint Laurent and the hardware discoloured really easily, so I’ve made a bit of a decision to try and just buy from Hermes moving forward.
The leather on it is stunning and it’s so well finished, plus it’s quite low key which is ideal for me.

Ended up with a Jacquemus scarf recently. Love it. Personally not rating the brand itself anymore but I think that is more at the bags. So good for £165 really thick and heavy

Also for any fragrance lovers, the Hermes Tutti Twilly perfume is honestly so special. Also got for Xmas… start small with the end goal being a Birkin? 🤣

Pls share any Christmas gifts I am too nosey for my own good

I’m still tempted by a Polene bag which are similarly priced but really mixed reviews recently.
I just got this one, cyme mini in taupe. It was on pre order for 2nd feb but came really early last week! I felt like I was lacking a tote bag and could come in useful as a boujee beach bag when I go to Dubai in April lol (as long as it doesn’t go mad in the Middle East!).

I also have the numero dix in taupe which I love.

I feel like the quality is good!

I know this threads view on replicas, but do you say anything to friends/family if you spot them wearing a fake? I really struggle with the cringe factor 🫣

Hello 👋. I’m fairly new to owning designer items although I am still “low-end” at the moment (I grew up quite poor and am still in that mindset, I guess). Hoping it’s okay to ask here and do let me know if you think I can do better or if you have any alternative suggestions. Backstory is that I bought a Ted Baker bag (my first ever “designer” bag!) from the McArther Glen outlet in York in October last year and it has already broken in a way that I can’t just sew it back together; I suppose that’s what I get for purchasing from an outlet. I’m looking to replace it with a Rebecca Minkoff Edie Flap shoulder bag - my question is are there any physical shops in England that sell RM items as I like to look at things in person before I buy them, especially if they are expensive, and is RM a good brand? Or do you have any alternative bag suggestions? I’m looking for a bag that’s black (as my TB bag was my “dark” bag and it’s now broken), can be dressed up or down, has multiple compartments inside so I can organise my bits and bobs, and a slip pocket at the back. To give you an idea, my other everyday bags are:
- Coach Cassie in light pink (which I love) - this is my 2nd designer bag. Had I known that my Ted Baker bag was going to break, I would have just purchased it in black and I wouldn’t be having this issue 😩
- Fossil Jasmine crossbody in tan/floral

Thank you (especially if you made it this far) 🙂

Is there a "What I've Bought" thread for general clothes and stuff, not necessarily designer? I know there's a general "Last 3 Things I've Bought" kinda one but wondered if there would be any call for a clothes/shoes/bags/nice shit one incorporating high street finds?
I would too!!! It might be therapeutic too! Let’s do one x

For me, it became a bit "mainstream" and everyone had it. I even ended up selling my Gucci bags as wasn't feeling them anymore. Bit like my feelings on Burberry still from being a teen when the pattern was associated with the "chav" movement as it were lol
I really hate the new creative direction of gucci and I don't think it will help sales in the long run. Clearly the focus is selling accessories which are the profitable arm of most luxury companies, but Michele's success came from creating amazing clothes that got people wanting to buy into the brand even if they could only afford accessories. The only hype I'm seeing is around the flatform loafers, but if you compare to Michele's mule (with or without the fur) they have less universal appeal/ wearability so I doubt I'll be seeing them in the same way I used to see the mules all over the office. New gucci looks too similar to prada and miu miu, which are way hotter brands. The middle class consumer at present is more likely to shop miuccia than sabato di sarno for that look.

The only decent kering brands imo are ysl and bottega (ysl has always been my favourite brand of all the bigger designer) but they won't be able to make up for the gucci losses. Apparently kering want to increase their stake in valentino at present the own around 20% as well as buying selfridges, but I think they need to focus on the brands they have already.

That’s pissed me right off about matches, I much prefer shopping with them than net a porter. I don’t think I’ll be using them any longer after the many horror stories I’ve heard from people shopping with flannels. I’m having a nightmare with the OUTNET at the moment so my options are now limited, will probably have to just shop direct from now on.
It’s pissed me off, too 😂 clearly don’t have much else going on in my life to let it bother me 😬

Could I please get your opinion on this Jimmy Choo bag?
just turned 40 and I feel too old now to carry this look 🫣
It was a gift so I feel awful that I don’t really like it. View attachment 2537528
I actually have this bag on my fantasy bag list lol! I can’t justify it for the amount of wear I’d get out of it, but actually so versatile and fun. Disco ball is a neutral imho 😂💪

Does anyone have a Prada Re-Edition 2005 nylon bag, the cross body one with the chain shoulder strap?
Black Prada Re-Edition 2005 Re-Nylon bag | PRADA

I've been doing the bag dance with 3 different bags for about 2 months now. I'm stuck between:
This Celine MEDIUM FOLCO BAG IN TRIOMPHE CANVAS AND CALFSKIN - TAN | CELINE
A Loewe Puzzle
And now this Prada cross body Black Leather shoulder bag | PRADA

I need none of them as I have a Chanel Mini Flap plus 2 Celine Box Flaps but the want isn't going away and now I'm wondering if the slightly cheaper pre-loved Prada Re-Edition might be the answer. Not sure what I'm asking really and I'm aware this could not be more #firstworldproblems 😂
I do 🙋🏻‍♀️ I’ll be honest with you; it was a gift, I didn’t buy it, it is actually made of nylon and I’m not sure spending £1400 on nylon is a good, or sane, idea. They’re solidly made though and obviously material is pretty bulletproof, although it’s a very “young” bag so not an investment piece to hold onto for later years. Out of your choices I would probably lean more towards prada in leather, however that may be due to personal style
