Oh Kylie

When I was in the US years ago I went into one of the Chanel Neiman Marcus concessions as I wanted to look at a Tweed bag, and when the lady asked if it was my first/only Chanel (I was like 18 and very much only at the drooling stage) she said to only invest in leather bags as the tweed doesn't stand up to wear, tear and time. She said that the tweed bags were just for fun and if I wanted regular use I should go Caviar.Keen to hear people’s thoughts on non-leather luxury bags i.e. a Chanel classic flap in tweed or straw? I really struggle to justify the luxury price tag for something that’s unlikely to last my lifetime….
I saw these last year pre me getting my Loewe one...and the reviews were awful saying they transferred black marks onto clothing and all sorts. They've introduced a pink one this year aswell and it is pretty but I don't want black crap all over my clothes lolIt’s not designer. It’s M&S. I thought they were cute for £35.
I have 0 regrets about my straw bagThey are really sweet, especially the white - buuuuuuuuuuuut (and I hope you guys understand what I'm saying here) that's when I start to go off something. As soon as the likes of Next and M&S start doing "copies" that just kinda kills it dead for me. Absolutely get that loads of people will love it when the high street do their interpretations though and lets face it, who's the fool here - the person who buys a wicker basket for £35 or one who buys for £500?!!![]()

I think you’re right that most things are more expensive, especially designer like LV, Chanel etc. Like a previous poster said, American brands might be cheaper and maybe they have better sales than the UK. I know wherever I’ve travelled to in the USA there’s been no tax refunds but I believe it may differ from state to state, so @harveydean maybe worth checking where you are travelling toI thought designer things were more expensive in America? I’m sure Americans always buy in Europe to save on tax and it’s cheaper. Plus the pound has been really crap against the dollar so I’m not sure it’ll be much cheaper, if at all?
I may be wrong though
MK yes - I have a beautiful quilted one but never reach for it, had it like 6 years lolDoes anyone else feel off put by MK, Kate Spade, and other lower end luxury now? Idk what it is but I feel like they're too obtainable and everyone has them. I was going to buy a cute cheap Hermes tote till I saw an older man with it. I can only afford lower end so idk what's wrong with my head.![]()

Was this your holiday purchase? Was it cheaper abroad? It’s megaThis happened. This thread is entirely to blame and I’m so here for it![]()
Classic flap for sure. In terms of holding value, you can’t get more classic than medium classic flap in caviar with gold hardwareThinking of buying a Chanel bag - any thoughts or recommendations? I’ve never bought one before and have noticed that you can’t buy online which is a little annoying!
In terms of holding their value, is there certain bags that are best for this? I think I’d like a Classic Flap, still not decided on the size or colour though!
Are they hard to come across or are the stores quite well stocked with sizes and colours?
I just needed one person to say do it! I’m doing it!Sky blue by a country mile - I can relate to finding it difficult to move away from classic/neutral colours but honestly you’ll love that bag so much more as it’s what you actually love not what you “should”, it’s fun, and will always feel like a you item so get used more and for longer to boot.
The navy is best left unspoken about - that bag looks like it would be a regular on the Trump rally circuit.
Has anyone got a nice Apple Watch band they’d recommend please? Ideally leather and ideally colourful but appreciate the two are at odds with each other. Not the Apple official Hermès one as v much not a Hermès girly.
I got a couple of leather Apple ones around Christmas time from TK Maxx. They were £50 each whereas they are £150 on the Apple site. I got the tan brown which looks great when you are a bit more dressed up. Keep your eyes peeled by the tech sections near the tillsId like to know if you find one![]()
Oh definitely - I have only gone leather with Chanel (and predominantly Caviar), and just had two bags in for repair with them - came out looking new, and the repairs weren't even too expensive (and much cheaper than options like The Restory)It’s good she was so honest with you! It’s true those materials aren’t really repairable whereas leather is, there are some lovely leather restoration videos on TikTok! But it’s possible to recondition, or dye, or repair scratches in a leather bag whereas it’d be game over for the other two. I also can’t help but wonder surely straw is going to become brittle and smelly within a few years? I don’t know if you can keep treating it in the same way you can leather?
I have Damier Ebene already, I do absolutely love it. I’d like a pink one as well, fuck me id like them allI have it in damier ebene and it goes with everything!![]()
Loewe enabler here. I've got the yellow basket bag. I went to Selfridges to look at both the smaller Loewe and Celine bags and just preferred the size of the Loewe (I wanted a smaller basket bag but the Celine small was TINY and the medium too big for what I wanted). I get my baby out the dustbag now and then just to gush at itDoes anyone have Loewe or Celine basket bag with the brown leather in here? Been debating between both and plan to treat myself in the next couple of months but would love any advice
I love a good clash. I probably sound cooler than I amI could neverHonestly I love your style. I imagine you are somebody who wears clashing colours and styles but somehow it just works
D’oh…there was a convo re: Firenze here that I even took part in a little, totally forgot, lol. So you guys are probably familiar with how it works at The Mall anyways!Anyone been to Firenze The Mall in Florence? Been wanting to go for a while and finally made it last week. It was really good.
Rocked up at 4pm mid week, thought it was gonna be packed but it wasn’t at all! Went to all the shops I was interested in and didn’t have to wait.
Nice stuff in Gucci, lots at good prices. Bought some leather ankle boots for about €380 to save for autumn/winter. There was a big monogrammed hobo bag for only €600, it was lovely and classic looking. I probably should’ve got it. Very practical for travel but also everyday use.
Ferragamo didn’t have much in.
Husband got his fill at Etro. Church’s had some good deals on shoes (spotted some last pairs for less than €300, they are normally around £700 for a pair full price). He also got some sunglasses at Gucci for €220.
Fendi had some nice bits but was still pricey. Saint Laurent was lacking, and seemed very expensive still. I spotted a medium sized quilted fabric bag and was surprised it was almost €2000, I’d rather go to LV and pay less for a bag.
Prada was nice, lots of choice (inc Miu Miu) but still pricey.
So basically, some stores had more of a discount than others. Gucci also had some current non-outlet priced stuff too, but this is really good cos:
Whether outlet price or rrp price, people that have non-EU passport and are traveling back to non-EU country can claim 12.5% money back from their purchases either at the tax office at The Mall, or at the airport.
The spend needs to be between €155-€999 per vendor in order to get the discount. (Personally I’m not eligible but some of you will be).
