This really annoys me too. Wardrobe Icons in particular I used to love following as the idea was to just have a few well loved items that you choose again and again that should stay ‘timeless’. Seems like they just push so many links these days like the rest of them. They do love Loewe though and I much prefer to have a designer like that pushed on me than the likes of Chanel and Hermes.I’ve been thinking further on the young people being pressured to buy designer items thing (please ignore if not interested, or else feel free to start a thread if there is enough interest).
As well as individual influencers, I think a lot of the blame lies with these aff link farm websites (can’t think of a better term, but the ones that are basically blogs/online magazines who get all their income from affiliates and spon con). Who What Wear, Sheerluxe, Wardrobe Icons etc. There’s an article on WWW today about the Matches sale and all the things they link are hundreds of pounds. They write about items as though everything is a “must have”, which is obviously their MO and how they make money, but I think it’s kind of morally dubious. I’m a reasonably high earner and have a few nice bits, but surely the people who are in a position to spend hundreds on a top or a blazer are like the 0.1%? Even I find myself feeling like I should be splurging on these items, before I catch myself on, and I’m 36.

Got the tote today and colour looks great irl plus it’s a good size. For me the large tote would’ve been just that little bit too big. This colour is so stunning !! I have the small black and white one (basic I know) and I am obsessed with her, really thinking of getting the medium size next!
I'm going to Rome in a couple months and potentially looking for a new bag while I'm out there, has anyone been / can anyone recommend buying out there if its cheaper?
I don't really wear belts either and I absolutely hate the massive logo'd Gucci and Valentino ones ('pologies to those who have them!)I can easily splash £400 on a basket bag but couple hundred on a belt and I'm like good grief nobut then bag gets alot of use. Belt does not lol

ETA £460 for a Celine belt. Absolutely not![]()
I like Chanel. They are one of the few brands who do polorised sunglasses.Hello all!
Does anyone have advice/ suggestions on designer sunglasses?
I’ve only ever spent max £20 and want a nice pair.
Thanks!
How do orans wear? I want to buy some but not sure I can justify them if they don’t wear wellI've bought another pair of Orans. In black. I can't 'fess up to anyone IRL because they'll probably tell me I have a problem (and in all honesty, they'd be absolutely right) so I'm avoiding the judgement and telling you crazy cats. Welcome to Designer Items (In Confession). Praise be.
I love the clutch! A good price too! @Dizzy you’ve now sent me down a bag rabbit hole when I should be doing houseworkMorning enablers
I ordered the YSL Uptown clutch last week but now it’s arrived it’s not for me. It’s too formal and big, I want something slightly smaller and less blingy, for evening wanders when I’m on holiday. The colours are perfect though - I’m looking for something in raffia or canvas with some kind of brown element. Celine did a cute little pouch with a wrist strap but seem to have stopped doing it now. Anyone have any other suggestions please?
Here’s the Uptown
Glad you love it - the Toys are really beautiful bags.My dream bag used to be the classic flap for many years, I’m delighted that I’ve gone off it now especially with the sickening price increases. I posted a few days ago that I got the Toy Loulou and at £1k less than the small, I’m really happy with it. You can double up or swap out the strap for a chain and it’s a similar look, plus the toy is a lot easier to wear cross body.
I can easily splash £400 on a basket bag but couple hundred on a belt and I'm like good grief noRun! They’re coming!![]()
I get everything sent to my mums. EVERYTHINGI fell in love with your bag yesterday. I kept thinking about it all day so I purchased it online just now. I chose the Medium size.
I can’t believe I finally bought a designer basket bag.
This thread is dangerous. @avtv1234. It’s all your fault my children will have to starve.
Now I have to hide the post from hubbie. Shhhh![]()
Going looking now!!!Anyone seen the Selfridges sale (especially on the PS Instagram).
Chloe Woody on there....I love them but resisted, even though was like half price.
I recently got some Chanel ones for £360 that are polarised and I love them! I think if you spend a bit of time online you can find them on cheaper websites (maybe from out of the UK etc). I ordered from Chanel as a treat to myself but you can definitely find them cheaperI’ve had ones from Gucci, Chloe, D&G and Le Specs (not so much designer lol) and I think it really just depends which design you like best! Unless you are going to go for an actual sunglasses brand like Ray Ban. I didn’t know Chanel ones were polarised - I’d love a pair! I’m sure they start at about £500 though![]()
Yes!I think I missed this post - please can you post again @Scorpihoe , it sounds a dream x
These are stunningI ordered these yesterday and they arrived this morning. I thought they’d be more of a beige but seem more mushroom coloured

She knows the names and appearances of all the it bags but obviously nothing about their origins and history and designer inspirations- I never see her mention anything like that for any of the bags? It’s not compulsory though, it’s her passion bless herAnd when she says "jacky moose' for jacquemus lol
YAAAAY LOEWE BASKET CLUBThis happened. This thread is entirely to blame and I’m so here for it![]()
I use mine for beach trips, shopping trips, picnics, various day trips. That bad boy comes out everywhereJumping in to ask, where/how do you wear basket bags - everyday summer use or beach only? Love the white Loewe but don’t think I could justify for just the odd beach holiday. Thanks!
I delete these emails without looking for a reasonI do too, got the email this morning![]()
Me too! I lived for new pencil case/school bag time. I know my mum rolls her eyes every time I buy a new bag but it’s my money now so haI really enjoy this thread - lovely people with a shared enthusiasm for overpriced leatherware!I'm not part of any groups on FB, wasn't aware they existed TBH. Any recs @Wifo1976 ?
I've always loved bags and shoes, well and clothes, but bags and shoes have always been my Achilles. I can remember getting a new school bag every September, usually from somewhere like Lennards or Dolcis (showing my age!) and being so excited to use it. And new shoes from Clarks - I'd sleep with them at the end of my bed for the first few weeks
I've very little on my designer list at present. Still pondering some kind of basket but the copies really put me off and I'd like a summer clutch, ratten, tan leather kinda thing, thinking either YSL or Celine.
