Tuesday marks 22 years since my mum passed I was only 5 and I grew up in care so I don’t have any memories of her… I had arranged contact visits but I don’t remember any. I’ve been so emotional today crying a lot, don’t really know the point of this post, I’m so sorry for everyone’s losses. My grief seems to be getting harder every year. I have so many unanswered questions and have missed so many conversations and chances to heal

Much love to all missing their mums today, especially those of us in the first year 💔 I'm visiting dad this weekend and agreed to go with him to church. It was full-on mothering Sunday, which was hard going.

I lost my mum in 2021. Hardest thing I ever dealt with . I don't get upset on Mother's day , probably because I think of her everyday not just today . She never wanted a fuss on on mother's day . I just wish my sister would let us sprinkle her ashes.

Thinking of everyone who’s lost their mums today. I find everyday hard without my mum but I think seeing people out for lunch, carrying bunches of flowers etc just stings a little more. It’s just a day though x

I think it’s a day to keep off social media. For me it’s nearly 5 years. If anything I miss her more. I miss her wisdom but most of all I miss her love. ❤

Sending you hugs. Please be kind to yourself this weekend.

I know the feeling of being “gone away”. It feels like this for me too as my dad was living abroad for a few years before his sudden death in his 60s. I like to think he’s still there with no phone battery.
We got engaged and bought a house since he passed almost two years ago and it feels hard to move on in life without him. So many things they have missed. It sounds whacky but I tell myself I’ll meet him again some place, some day, and I want to have lived a life that leaves me with enough stories to tell him about, and a life that he would be proud of. It’s the only thing that keeps me going some days.
This is such a beautiful sentiment. I truly believe that we see them again. I have to otherwise I'd be a wreck most days. I get so angry sometimes that we've got here this quickly. 10 years has flown by in the blink of an eye. Angry at the injustice of everything
That we don't have more time together. But the truth is, all the time in the world wouldnt be enough.

To everyone who is feeling heavy today, get mad, get sad, do whatever you need to do to get through. Feel everything and remember it is just love coming through. It's not fair that they're not here. And it sucks that we cannot do anything about it.

I really miss my mama. 10 years on and my heart hurts more than ever. I wish I could have a cuddle, her supportive words and just her love.

Both my folks are dead, can I join in?

As luck would have it, my mum and dad both had their birthdays around mothers and fathers day. It was like a cruel joke that the first mothers day without her was also her bloody birthday.

I try and joke about their deaths cos it's easier to do that than think too much about the fact I loved them both very much and I lost them within 20 months of each other.

Anyone else see signs in the strangest of places?

Feeling super low at the moment as my husband (been together 18 years) has said he wants to separate. That has bought a whole other host of emotions about my dead dad, i.e. he walked me down the aisle and won't if I ever married again, he won't meet any new partner, he won't set foot in my new house etc. But anyway. Was browsing waterstones for a bit of retail therapy and saw the book The Antique Hunter's Guide to Murder by CL Miller. My dad was a huge antiques enthusiast and loved the Millers guides. I wondered if there was any connection and there is, her mother wrote the books my daddy loved. Felt like a little hug and reassurance from him.

My patience with people is at an all time low? Get a grip with your silly day to day issues that the likes of us wouldn’t even give a second thought to?! I feel like screaming pull yourself together you fools?!
Still can’t cry. I feel so numb and dead inside really. I feel really like nothing could touch me other than anything happening to my daughter. She’s the only person I feel any emotion for

First time on this thread but this really resonates with me. I'm 27 and lost my mum suddenly in October and I find that I only get frustrated now for 2 minutes max and then snap out of it when I realise that the worst thing that could happen to me has already happened. I have a few people around me who sweat the small stuff and I find that I just get super annoyed or bored of them talking about it, and then feel awful as obviously everyone elses problems are valid but I just don't find myself having the emotional capacity for it anymore

Yeah I’m 8 and a bit years in since losing my mum and for me this hasn’t really gone away! Like yeah, having to take thyroid medication every day is annoying but hey, you’re still here and you still have your parents. Don’t like your job? You can probably find a new one. Annoyed at your mum for going on holiday and leaving you without childcare? Oh no, my heart bleeds 🙄🤦🏼‍♀️

It’s going to be a year since my mum died soon (20th May). This time last year I knew things were getting worse but I didn’t think the end would be so soon. When she finally came down to live with us I remember saying to my husband “she’s so ill, I think she’s only got about 3 weeks”. And it was. I second guessed myself afterwards because she had a few better days but it was only 3 weeks. I feel so sorry for her, what she went through. I think brain tumours are the worst. I think we were lucky she didn’t have personality changes but god, it was horrible - seeing her lose every capability. She was such a good person as well.

The first anniversary is so tough, especially the lead up x

My mum died of a brain tumour as well, it’s awful to see the change in their personality. Her anniversary will be 2 days before yours. 24 years and I still miss her everyday. I’ll be thinking of you, hugs ❤

Yes! I’m 6 years in since losing my mam and I feel like this every day. Absolutely hate it though, I feel like it really gets in the way of relationships, as I can’t empathise with people for minor life inconveniences anymore. I found myself in a conversation with 2 family members the other day who’s parents were going on hol and leaving them without babysitters, the sorts of parents who never have theirs kids at the weekend etc. I just blurted out “well you could try letting you parents live their lives and look after your own kids for once..” without meaning to say it out loud, and felt bloody awful afterwards. 😵

Fair play to you i would say!!
I have become sometimes horrifying direct but at times I do enjoy it 😉
It changes you. Forever. You are never quite the same.
Someone I know was very cavalier when I lost my mum? Now he’s lost his. Now he will get it.
Perhaps he will feel some shame at how he behaved to me after the loss of my mum.

A manager at work (different branch thankfully) that I was doing a job for chased my manager to see where my work was when I got signed off a few weeks after going back to work as I went back way too soon. My manager said "unfortunately, Jojida has gone off on comparassionate leave again as we all agreed she came back a bit too soon after losing her mum" (this was within a month of me losing my mum). His response was "that's all well and good but that doesn't get my job done, does it?".

He's now losing his nan and everyone feels sorry for him as it's the first time this little robot has ever shown emotions at work and I'm now the cavalier one. You get back what you give when it comes to me, I'm afraid 🤷‍♀️

I’m just at the one year anniversary of my dad and I agree with what people are saying about having no patience . My colleagues keep whining to me about their parents getting older or their grandparents not keeping well and I want to scream you’re lucky to even have a grandparent never mind parents . My other half and me have only got my mother left before being 40 .
it’s really not got better for me at all the grief but I don’t know if it’s just me I feel like people are bored of it now from me so I just think you learn to hide your feelings more .
