What she really wants is for business to send these items to her lol. I’ve seen this over and over again, an influencer will put up a story saying “omg where can I find this” as if google doesn’t exist and days later they were ~kindly~ sent whatever it is they wanted.
Also, her poetry book was nominated for a Goodreads Choice Awards, it’s not the most competitive category but I doubt she’ll win against bigger names unless there’s mass voting. Some of the book:

The good thing about the pre- social media years was that all this teenage-angst drivel would remain in personal notebooks until the authors turned 20, disposed of it safely and anonymously, and the outside world never had to witness the cringe.
Her going on about this Goodreads award nomination is embarrassing. It’s not the bloody Pulitzer Prize. It’s a glorified social media popularity contest. Her entire writing career has been based off having a specific social media aesthetic with a creepy cult following. I guarantee no one in the actual publishing industry knows who she is, or gives a tit.

This is funny since she became famous for her clothes/overall style instead of her art. I wonder wether truly believes that all of those teens who follow her care that much about her poetry and book recommendations or if she understands she’s a product of micro internet trends after all.
Also, the article states she’s 24, it’s insane she’s older than me, I’ve always thought she was 20 at most because of the way she acts like an infatuated girl who just found out tumblr is a thing.

Something I noticed about Dakota is that she seems to recommend the same books over and over again. Despite her internet persona, I don't think she's as well-read as she portrays herself to be. Compared to other booktubers that have a more expansive range of what they read, she sticks to books that are seemingly pretentious/fit her brand without diversifying her taste. She's like the dark academia version of Orion Carloto lol- internet aesthetic, so-called "poets" that try way too hard to appear intellectual.

She didn't stand a chance against Ocean Vuong and Amanda Gorman lol. I wonder how other booktubers feel about her (aside from Jack). I haven't really seen many talk about her book.
I was just thinking the same thing, she definitely tries a little too hard to seem intelectual and ends up limiting herself. But to be fair, I think there are other youtubers who are even more repetitive with their book recommendations, I mean Carley Thorne mentions the same books in literally every video she posts.
I quite like Carley, I think she has a good balance of sharing the same books and different books. If a book tuber is recommending tons of different books every video I find it disingenuous, especially as a critical reader myself.
