Customer service stories

I had someone’s partner phone up and tell me that the debtor had died, I didn’t quite believe it, something didn’t ring true. The next week she rang up as they wanted to be rehoused. She was so blasé and was saying “yeah he got it wrong”

Also experienced bad customer service but I’m quite assertive and won’t have it!

Just remembered another one. Worked in a call centre for a bank. Woman came on and was trying to pass security but she’d given the wrong date of birth for the account she was enquiring about. We had two profiles for her with debts on both but with dates of birth one day apart. When challenged on why she was using different details to obtain credit she said that she was legally allowed to use both dates because when her mum was giving birth her head came out before midnight and the rest afterwards :ROFLMAO: pretty sure that’s not how it works!

In one of my first delves into the customer service arena, I had a regular older customer called Mr bleep... I tit you not 😂 I nearly cried as an 18 yr old seeing that name In a job where you HAD to use the customers name 😂😂
When I worked in retail a customer came in and wanted refund for some flat shoes purchased 2 months previously, the insides were literally black with foot filth must have been worn 24/7, I refused the refund and she made me get the manager... who gave her a refund 😩😩
Always the great feeling when they have your back 🙄🤣

Worked for a pub chain for a while. Hardest job ever. I tip my hat to anyone who works within hospitality, especially at Xmas.

My faves were those who complained about their food, after eating everything on their plate - having to deal with people in the lavs that couldn't possibly have come from a human - complaints about not getting a table, because it's busy - trying to get freebies because Uncle Stan is 50 today - questioning your spirit measures, no mate, you're just that pissed you can't taste the voddie anymore - parents trying to buy alcohol for their underage kids and then arguing with you when you refuse.

When my friend worked on Marks and Sparks returns desk, she had to check the box sets of returned knickers because people would often substitute one new pair with an old worn pair. She had to check each and every gusset 🤢

I worked part time for a well known supermarket when I was younger.
I swear it should be like conscription. Everyone should be forced to work in a supermarket for a year after they leave school, then there might not be so many entitled dickheads out there who think it's perfectly fine to treat retail staff like tit.
Ditto bar and wait staff.

Nothing pisses me off more 😡

I work in hospitality and I read your post nodding along, almost shouting “YES” to every single one 😂

Never forget a woman I had a couple of years back who came to me for lip fillers.
She was a bit dodgy from the off but seemed nice enough.
She kept on asking about the price of treatments and if she could pay in installments etc etc.
Anyway, she had her lips done, and 2 days later we always offer a follow up as a duty of care.
I contacted her and had no response.
2 days later she posted a picture of massive infected lips to our business Facebook page.
I was mortified but something didn't add up.
Asked her to come in so I could see and check and get a doctor etc but she wouldn't but demanded publically a refund whilst trying to ruin my business.
Anyway turns out she got the picture from Google and solicitors got involved and it was a very expensive move on her part.
Some people have ZERO shame.

I worked in retail.. we were allowed to put what we liked aside and pay at the end of the month... I noticed that the manager would always come into work in the latest trend that was on the shop floor... which was fine... everyday she would put aside her clothes and say she would pay at the end of the day and someone always signed her receipt.... really odd because she started to bring her items back and ask for a refund !!!! The receipt was never signed .... she got sacked for thief !!!! I was pleased because she always gave me and a couple of the other staff members the crappy shift !!!!!

I had an american customer complain because I sell goods in pounds and she didn't know what it was and I had to explain that their are other currencies other than US dollars and that in Britain we have the british pound. Thought that was a one off but it's happened a couple of times since and they get very cross about it and tell me to come back to them when I've converted it to US dollars. Fortunately I own the business so I never come back to them 😂

Oh my god I have so many stories 😂

I was working in a call centre a good few years back as an in between when I was pregnant. A woman called asking how long a two night break in a hotel lasted? I said two nights... she said don’t be sarcastic? And called me a large C U next Tuesday on the phone 🤰🏼 I was 39 weeks pregnant and I cried and told her to duck off and hung up, I went on maternity leave about 7 minutes later.

Oh man...

Working at a pub whilst I was at college, a primary school teacher I had came in with her family. I wasn’t serving them however walked past, she stopped me by saying my name, I said yes and she continued with “glad to see you’ve gone far in life”, such a witch.

Same pub... woman squared up on me because I told her she’d have to pay for extra of something for her child. I’m 5ft and she was about 5ft10.

Whilst working on an internal IT help desk there was a colleague who would ring constantly and refuse to speak to me, shouting “no, I will handle this with a man only” despite me being the most trained on the issue he had, if I tried to explain this to him, he’d call me a liar. He would repeatedly hung up and try speak to a male but they all knew to divert him to me just to wind him up more.

I work for an Airline as Cabin Crew and I’m sure people leave their brains at the Terminal door.

On a night flight once I had a lady come into the galley to ask what the awful noise was as it’s preventing her from sleeping, my colleague and I looked at eachother like ...? She then proceeded to make the noise to get us to understand, which we then told her she is in fact referring to the engines. She asked if we could get the pilots to reduce the noise as she needs to sleep as she had a day full of meetings once we landed, me and my colleague laughed and said “we’ll see what we can do” but she was deadly serious about TURNING THE ENGINES NOISE DOWN and just carried on standing there with a look on her face that just read “well I’m waiting?” So I rang the flight deck and said we’ve got a noise complaint from a lady stood here regarding the engines is there any way we can maybe turn them down to which the Captain replied “yes of course, ask the lady though what are her swimming skills like?” 🤣🤣 trying not break out into a fit of laughter I told her he said he’d do it right away and with that she sauntered off back to her seat.

It’s also quite common in especially serious medical situations for people who can see you’re busy to still come at you with drinks orders and “are you serving food soon?”

Whilst there are so many funny stories about stupid requests, it can be very trying sometimes especially when people become verbally and physically abusive, restraints seem to becoming more and more common because people don’t know their limits with alcohol.

Similar too what has already been mentioned above when disembarking and saying my goodbyes I had a sick bag thrust in my face whilst being asked “can you get rid of this for me?” When I asked what was inside they said “my sick“ I said “No, there is a toilet there, do it yourself” I can’t believe the brass neck of some people sometimes I would never be so cheeky to ask someone else to dispose of my sick 🤣

Also I have found far too many used sanitary items on toilet floors than I would have liked to 🤮

I used to work in subway. Certain groups of individuals who would come in had to get ALL the salad. I’d give them all the salad and they’d still ask for more, more. & then we get to the sauce. They literally get 3/4/5/6 sauces on one sandwich. Can’t believe it. Then they would proceed to ask if the drinks are free. Rude as f**k. & then they’d NEVER clean up after themselves. & they wonder why they get such a bad name for themselves.
Which groups of individuals?

Years ago I worked in a custom picture framing shop. Occasionally the frames would come back the wrong size and you'd have to call the customer to ask them to collect at a later date. I had a lady who refused to leave her phone number and unfortunately had given the wrong size for a picture mount but I had no way of contacting her. When she arrived to collect her order and I explained it would need to be re-cut she went absolutely bat tit. She said
"You have wasted my time, my bus fare and my shoe wear!"
Her shoe wear!!! Lol. I still smile when I.think of her. Nutcase.

Sadly that doesn’t surprise me. A lot of ‘Americans’ don’t have passports and so have never left their own country.

Yes, gonna love this thread 🙌
I used to work in retail and was always placed on Customer Service dept which i hated, anyway we get all sorts coming in - one time a woman asked me if she could leave her shopping with me while she went off to do more shopping down the road. Told her politely NO

* A customer purchased a kids trike 2 weeks previously and had since noticed the price had reduced, therefore he bought in his receipt and wanted a refund for the difference. My boss firstly refused then she gave in just to get rid of the guy. Bloody cheek i wouldn't dare do that.

The one thing i hated working in Customer Service was we always got told if a customer returned an item and had no receipt then we had to refund them on a gift card........ that was the process until customer kicks off and i call manager for them to give customer what they want making me look like an idiot despite me following procedure.

* Another experience was a customer wanted to purchase a large wardrobe, she asked if she could have help to the car which i organised. My colleague had been gone for ages then came back into the store with the wardrobe. The woman asked for a refund as the wardrobe wouldn't fit in the car - when i asked my colleague what car she had he replied "a Mini" 🤦‍♀️
There are stores in the US, including Banana Republic, Gap and Old Navy who do give these refunds on their goods if the price goes down in the last two weeks at least. You just need to produce the receipt at the checkout, and they check, so its their store policy. I think Victoria’s Secret does as well.
There may well be other stores there that do it. A relative there told me about it while I was there, so I did take advantage.

I worked on the Customer Service Desk in Tesco.....the worst customer I ever had was in my first week! She had bought a dining set of plates and on taking them down to the carpark and attempting to load them in her car, she dropped them! She then thought she was completely within her rights to storm back up to the store and demand a refund as ‘the plates are all broken’ she argued with me for over 20 minutes while I tried to make her understand that once she has paid for an item, it is now her responsibility to look after said item....and that as the plates weren’t broken when she purchased them....I would not be issuing a refund! It ended with her spitting at me and telling me she was going to wait outside the shop until I finished!! Charming 😂🙄
