I ordered something for click and collect from a department store.
I wandered over to the designated C&C area, only to find it shut with a sign directing customers to the checkout area.
So off to the checkout I went ... which was busy (I was 5th in line). When it was my turn to be served and I handed over my order confirmation + explained that the C&C area was shut, the lady at the checkout rolled her eyes and told me I'd have to wait while she served customers actually buying things - so I pointed out that I have actually bought things and paid for them too! So then she called for assistance and asked me to step aside.
A good 10 minutes passed, all the queues disappeared and the store was quiet. I asked the checkout lady if she could please call for assistance again, to which she rolled her eyes and said she was going on her break. There were no other checkouts open. No staff to be seen!
I rang the head office from my car but after 40 minutes of being on hold with constant,
"Please wait - your call is important to us ..." gave up, and emailed the CE (address easily found via a Google search). I received an email from him this morning apologising and promising to look into the inefficiencies of this store. He said in the meantime, he's arranged for my C&C order to be sent to my home address free of charge - which was good of him.

Last week, I did a C&C which promised to be ready within three hours; it wasn't. Why make promises you can't keep?
I actually received notification that the order couldn't be fulfilled just after the three hours were up, despite the website showing that stock was available at the time of my placing the order.
I drove to the store to see if I could find an alternative to what I wanted, only to see what I did want right there on the shelf - and there was plenty of stock available. I do understand that some stores dedicate so much of their stock to in-store purchases, and so much to online purchases, but it wasn't like I was buying a huge quantity. Anyway, I got what I wanted in the end but I've paid twice for it as the store hasn't yet refunded my credit card for the C&C order (the usual BS about processing times, blah blah blah), and I had to pay again to buy the stock from the store.
