Oh that sounds as if she's starting to recover a bit. I hate it when argumentative people on this thread deny the existence of long covid, and blame any and all illness on vaccines. Both can exist! I sympathise with anyone who is suffering, fingers crossed the treatments improve with more research.

Dare I ask why there's not facilities and help with long term effects of pneumonia or flu, why cfs has been ignored all these years, why patient's of strokes have to wait or fight for physio to recover, why heart attack patients arent/weren't getting the treatment they needed to recover?

Get covid and continue feeling ill and the help is there

I'm not seeing how this is fair

It's because covid is the only virus that matters 🙃

A Google search shows that there are rehab programmes and support groups etc for cfs/me? Maybe just depends on where you are and what is offered by your local health trust and any private health care providers. The rehab my friend is doing is through a private care provider and funded by charity - not through the nhs.

My friend had a long wait to see nhs specialists for the various symptoms she had, it wasn’t a quick thing.

I’ve also seen a lot of things advertised where I am (in Scotland) that have previously been used for other conditions and have been adapted for long covid. Just today I sent my friend a link to a programme with Scottish Opera which is about improving lung health through singing and has been adapted for long covid after previously being offered to people with cystic fibrosis and other respiratory conditions.

From what I see here is that if you have cfs then meetings are suspended due to covid and referrals are subject to your GP - which we know is a fight with that as you're not believed.

I work closely with people who suffer strokes/heart attacks and even before covid the recovery plan was awful (especially for stroke victims) and is now even worse

I'm not saying one illness is worse than the other, but I am saying that if you're suffering lung/heart problems from covid then welcome to the world of not getting help, because it's always been a nightmare.
What I see as unfair is clinics being set up for long covid and all the investigations for it, while old chronic illnesses are still left as they always were

I feel like everyone and their mother will now claim they have long covid 😐

do people not wonder why so many in the medical profession/NHS won’t get the vaccine?

👆this!

I had Norovirus almost 10 years ago and it was so severe it left me with IBS. I've always thought it's just one of those things. Sometimes you catch things and get ill. Hey at least I'm here to tell the story.

I have a friend who picked up a virus teaching at a secondary school. She now has ME. This was over 12 years ago, can’t work, has to nap in the day. She was told she was the right sex, the right age to get it and have the after effects.

I don’t doubt people are still suffering long term from Covid. But it’s not new.

So many? 90% of NHS staff are double vaccinated (as of November 2021 when this article was published so may be higher now)

Sorry to hear of your friend's issues. You are indeed correct and chronic pain/fatigue type conditions have long been linked to viral infections.

I think it’s just under 400 thousand that aren’t fully vaccinated, and acceptance is getting less and less every time there’s a new booster, if these are the people seeing the effects of the pandemic daily surly none of them would refuse to take it.

Some people are saying it’s the new bad back.

Dr. James, the doctor who challenged Javid, said in a radio interview that he has colleagues who have significant health problems after the vaccination.

That's still a hell of a loss to the healthservice if they're moved away from public facing roles .

I watched an interview with him a few days ago he said he'll move to Ireland, or another part of the UK rather than take the vaccine , he also said he's not had a good response from most of his colleagues

My friends mum had a severe reaction to the first jab and ended up in hospital after having seizures. For some unknown reason she was also given the second jab which again landed her in hospital for over 3 weeks. She’s not been then same since :(

Can't help but feel Long Covid has been given the name deliberately... I've never heard of Long Flu for example!

My partner had been having health issues investigated for the last 5-6 years at least and kept being pushed from pillar to post - possibly liver, possibly a virus, possibly anxiety induced, possibly allergies etc. The symptoms flared up seemingly at random and he's just felt generally "not right" for far too long. Yet this morning, he was taken to A&E with chest pains, had a clear ECG and other tests before speaking to a doctor who suggested it's Long Covid as they're seeing lots of similar symptoms in his age group (early 30s).

He has never knowingly had Covid and has isolated more than a lot of people to be honest, he was stringent with cleaning the food shop when it arrived, has worked from home since march 2020 etc. He's had both vaccinations but I'm not sure about the third/booster as we kind of stopped talking about it to avoid long winded debates that wouldn't be resolved due to different views/feelings!

I'm not saying it isn't Long Covid, but it feels far too convenient personally, almost like a "you want a label, here's a label, off you pop"... Also interesting that it's so easy to assume it must be Covid related but not consider it could be vaccine related... Is it not possible that both could have similar outcomes?

Obviously I haven't shared this view with him!!!

I wouldn't have had a second jab if I'd had seizures after the first! 😱

I'm one exam away from completing my degree. I honestly think even after studying 6 years for it I will move out of the UK too if I have to rather then get a vaccine I have no faith in.

My aunt's hospital lab team needs staff who have actually been trained to use the equipment which obviously requires time. Good luck finding 4+ replacements quickly.

Maybe this is the final thing they need to privatize the NHS?

They'll bring in overseas workers that how they'll get round it and force the people that don't want it into the private sector .
