Ive been to see family again today, been to my dads again for a couple of hours and sat in the garden to have lunch (took my own food)
Then been to sit with mum in the garden for a couple of hours and had a cuppa with her 😁
Its SO nice to see people again! Even if the only things there are to talk about are corona related 😂

I just got off the phone to my best friend and her nephew is 3 and in bits! He can’t understand where his friends have gone, he’s having panic attacks, night terrors and is becoming a different child! Poor thing!

I have come to the realisation that I lead a very boring life! What with Prof Neil Ferguson and his open marriage relationship, and the Labour MP meeting up with her married lover. I just work from home all day on my laptop, log off, cook dinner, watch Coronation Street and go to bed with a good book. Couple of glasses of wine at the weekend. No frisson in my life! I am missing out!!

I can’t wait for things to open. If Chester Zoo were to open next week then I’d be there straight away.

It’s very depressing but I don’t want to live the rest of my life like this. There’s no point in existing if it’s going to spent in my living room.

Off topic slightly but had a cheeky McDonalds today. There was a huge line but thats why I went to a retail park one as at least I wasn't contributing to the traffic on the roads! I was in and out within 15 mins, was very impressed and the food was all so fresh bc of how many people they were serving. And that first bite of my burger.... honestly droooooool.
Bless the workers, they were quite chipper. Having worked there in my teens, I know its absolutely boiling in those kitchens and the pressure is immense getting food out.

My friends attended a BLM protest in Cambridge and another friend attended in Peterborough. Both showed videos and pictures of how socially distanced the crowds were and it was nice to see. The protest organisers of the cities were enforcing the social distancing and handing out masks, gloves and hand sanitiser. I thought that was amazing to see and clearly coming from within their own pockets.
Also, with the weather being absolutely awful, it says a lot that crowds haven't thinned in the slightest. This movement is too important to be silenced and although I cant be at any protests, I wish them all health. Theres been SO much action taken in the last week alone in regards to cases reopening with the FBI even getting involved in some. THIS is the reason why we need to carry on.

If theres no peak in 2 weeks, then we'll know it was media scaremongering more than anything else. Idk if rain affects the virus transmission but I like to think its harder to get if everything is wet anyway.

I do think lockdown is well and truly over.

This is very much conspiracy but does anyone remember Sylvia Browns claims in her predictions

“In around 2020 a severe pneumonia-like illness will spread throughout the globe, attacking the lungs and the bronchial tubes and resisting all known treatments.”

“Almost more baffling than the illness itself will be the fact that it will suddenly vanish as quickly as it has arrived, attack again 10 years later, and then disappear completely.”

I take these things with a pinch of salt but I can’t quite help but believe it will go as quick as it came.

I will get my tin hat and make my way out.....
Lol I read this back in Feb and have always kept it in the back of my mind as something I just hoped came true 😂

If it does just die out now, that would be very strange, even more so if it then came back in 2030 (everyone saying there will be second wave tweeting in 2030 like 'SEE! That'll be all those 2020 beachgoers!' haha)

Chester Zoo holds such a special place in our hearts. It's somewhere I visited frequently as a child and we now take our own children every summer. We actually have pictures of our two sat on the big elephant statue each years and we love seeing how much they've grown over the years.
Think it's disgusting that I can go to Primark but might never be able to visit Chester Zoo again.
What about themeparks too? Surely the same must apply to them?

This is the saddest part of lockdown. The left picture I took the last time I went to see my cousin’s baby boy. The right picture she just sent me of him now. My whole family have missed out on so much of his first months😭
I realised today that my baby has spent more than half his life in lockdown. He’s my first. It’s crap :(

I seriously just don’t think the protests are anywhere near in the same league as having parties or meeting friends and family during the strictest part of the lockdown. Endangering people during a pandemic because you just want to socialise vs making a stand against systemic wide spread racism are two totally different things.
the fact that BAME people are the ones more at risk, yet they're out there protesting, speaks volumes to me about the need for them.

Even in the height of summer and it's busiest times, I've never once felt crowded in at Chester Zoo. It's plenty big enough to ensure social distancing and they've even said themselves that they were going to take online bookings only so could control the daily number of visitors. What's going to happen to all those animals? This has genuinely upset me

I mentioned our school had started zoom catch ups, spag and trail maths lessons. They've cancelled them now, my 8 year old has been in tears. She really misses school 😭

Totally agree with you. There was never a second spike after Easter, never a second spike after VE celebrations. The Spanish flu model is very outdated. The numbers are going down.
The Spanish Flu was very, very different in how it impacted upon the body, never mind the fact that healthcare systems have developed so much in the last 100 years. The numbers have continued to fall and most of the days where more deaths have been reported are mainly ‘older’ deaths that have been reported later on.

I know people find it hard to find the positives within this situation for so many reasons but it becomes infuriating every time we see positive trends or news, it always seems to be ‘well this is happening, let’s see in 2 weeks, still too many.’ - I’m just editing to say I feel like this could completely be perceived wrong and this isn’t aimed at any person in particular. We all have our own reasons for feeling frustrated/worried about the virus but I feel personally like the negativity is everywhere, not just on this thread, even from some family members.

The deaths will always trail behind. But less people are needing intensive care for it. More people are getting help sooner. Less people are being infected, even with increased testing and the eligibility for testing being opened up to everybody. Less people are having to go to hospital.

It is truly heartbreaking how many people have lost their lives, lost somebody they love and care about, but this lockdown is now going to be worse for some of our lives going forward than the threat of the virus ever was.

The few that are being violent are not the majority. Just remember that when you see the negative media stories about the small few who are taking advantage.

I don't think anyone at the protests is naive to the fact that it is a risk. At all. I agree with people who are worried about it, I don't think anyone thinks that it isn't going to cause at least a little rise in cases. But I jut can't bring myself to truly believe they shouldn't happen right now. It's the first real chance at change they'd had in.... a long time.

Of course with that could come a rise in cases but the beach trips, schools opening, people returning to work, people not social distancing AT ALL in public, etc will also be contributing to that, not just the protests. It will contibute, but not the protests alone. Personally I think any damage is already done. The protests might make it happen on a slightly larger and more significant scale but I think any spike on the way was already set in stone.

When else would they do it though? Someone on my local FB group said that they should reschedule for another time. But when would that time be? Should they wait until the next black man or woman is killed after the pandemic is over and sit back when it happens multiple times inbetween until it's safe to protest?

It sucks that George's death happened at all, don't get me wrong - but it sucks that everything that came with it is happening now. Right now is such a shitty time for it. It really really sucks that it was now.

As much as I didn't think I'd ever say this...
I MISS SOFT PLAY!!,😳😭
Our local soft play serves wine. It's on a holiday camp with log cabins. On a Friday when I'm off work we go straight after school with a few other mums. Kick kids into the play area have some wine and a burger (they also sell amazing food).

I don’t think the app is live yet
Regarding the app ..
i saw a post on a work colleagues fb today regarding the app and android phones. it said its already on your phone whether you've downloaded it or not!
i had a look at my google settings and low and behold its there behind the scenes!
Not sure how i feel about this being added to my phone without my concent !
(reminds me of when U2 violated my i pad with their unwanted album download)
