Its horrendous for them at the minute. They’re struggling to organise officers for serious crimes never mind adding into the mix deaths at home, a lot of elderly people are being reported as missing persons because instead of knocking on their door/calling them to check how they are neighbours and family members immediately assume that they’re dead or gone missing. 🥺

On a more positive note though our last covid positive patient on my ITU was able to be discharged to a rehab ward yesterday!
One of my friends is a police officer (just started after uni on a grad scheme). She says people are purposely coughing or even spitting at them/towards them shouting that they’ll give them corona. She said it’s been a tough time to start.

Broken toe. Strapped up and back at home. Only took him as was convinced it was dislocated because of the angle it was at
Glad he's back home and safe, the poor thing.

Kids though, I'm forever telling mine to watch what's he's doing as I'm not sitting in A&E on a Friday /Saturday night, now it's the same except I'm not sitting in a hospital with Corona doing the rounds!

Just trying catch up with news .

Poor Emily Mathis she's an excellent journalist.
Boris performance to say well done yvette Cooper.
Did I hear right fines going up after the Cummings incident although 100 quid cheap for him.

This local lockdown wonder how that happen.
Say local branch sainsburys some staff test postive.
Does the entire store have shut down 14days.

Random question we trying get few things done on the house and the garden.
But been getting crazy quoted do we think consumers are being charged more for goods and services?

Yes prices are increasing for goods and services. We provide a contracting service and have had to increase our rates unfortunately. Difficulty and higher prices for us to obtain stock, plus additional PPE costs and things like our team can no longer van share so having to send out 3/4 vans and men to one job. Not it that the jobs we had completed pre covid lockdown are now delaying payment and asking for discount due to financial difficulty 😭

I totally get that issue when materials in short supply but their services in high demand.

In specifically looking at glazing.
I approached a local company who were ridiculous and rude 1st.
I then saw a home influencer on insta and liked her doors she tagged the window company about 1.5 hours away from me.
I messaged the influencer and asked what their service was like and rough sort price bracket she was lovely and said they were good and she paid just under x.
I approached quote and my quote is £700 more.

We had same with decking lately my husband used to work in diy so was aware cost of materials bit the Labour costs were a crazy nearly 500 quid a day for 4 days work.
We did manage negociate down but was still higher than expected
£500 for 4 days labour only seems cheap ! Were they charging a fixed day rate ?

Just out of curiousity where are the English police??? Does anybody work in the police or have relatives who do? I'm genuinely interested to see how police officers feel about the lockdown.... It.appears that they aren't enforcing the rules on beaches and at beauty spots... It's that because of the sheer numbers of public? Because police numbers have been cut ? A mixture of both I suspect.

I sort of wish they'd just use water cannons on the public tmif they refuse to social distance!!
You mean those police that have not been social distancing the entire time !! Car sharing and let's not forgot the embarrassing crowds of emergency services at the hospital's clapping 🤬

I'm not saying I agree with their behaviour but all we have seen is one bad example after another of how to behave demonstrated by the government and our emergency services. It's no wonder People are confused and choosing to ignore it.

Honestly I don't even know what the official rules are anymore . I used to get annoyed by people not following the rules, now I am past caring and am just taking responsibility for myself and my family. 😁 luckily I was always anti people so I am pretty good at keeping isolated and distanced by now 😜

500 per day not 500 total.
I guess there's regional differences like London /South East more expensive.

I prefer to support small or local independent companies but I can't pay excessively over the odds.

Oh sorry I missed the per day part. Yeah that's insane what planet are they on 😂😂We provide quite a specialist service and are also highly regarded in the industry so always in-demand. Our day rates for comparison are £170-250 ( the £250 would be unsociable / out of hours and working away )

Yes wanted pay fair rate . The person's a sole trader works solo outdoors and lives local as in 10mins drive. We negotiated downwards to 275 a day have paid deposit. I think there's possibly they overestimated due to the circumstance.
I get people need money as we struggling with reduced pay but have savings to do decking and wanted replace rotton wundow and doors at reasonable price.
Will try 2 more firms. I'm not great at negotiating.
So far 2nd firm customer service been good but knowing the quote is more than the influencer paid this year makes it feel unfair. Maybe they factored into the free publicity.

I’ve not been able to keep up with this thread, but I wanted to write about the track and trace app. I for one would have been prepared to download and use this if we had a trustworthy leadership. After the many cock ups ive witness since covid has happened, I will absolutely not be using it. Not a chance in hell. If we can’t trust them, what chance have we got with the app? Big brother is watching you and they’re cowboys. Not a gamble I’m willing to take.

I’m really interested in this as I’ve been a big supporter of the app and feel it’s for our benefit and until recently I had some faith in our government. This isn’t a provocative or sarcastic question but what is it that makes people wary to get the app? I figured that the government know literally everything about us they have access to all our private information like NI number etc, what do people think the app will tell them that they don’t already know. I’d like to understand this so I can make an informed decision.

Wow still seems pretty high ! I hope it's an absolutely perfect job when he's finished !! He's not expecting you to pay cash too is he ?? 🤬

Good luck with the window and door quotes. Yes maybe the influencer got a special rate 🤮

That’s a good question.

I would not feel comfortable to download an app which enables them to access all of my data, where I have been and what I am doing. Who knows where it will stop and what else they’ll access and what they’ll do with it. Data breaches are not something I’m willing to risk.

I am a very compliant member of the general public and have a good job. I am not a criminal, nor do I have anything to hide, but I’m not prepared to sign all of my personal details over to them. If they want to know my particulars, then they’ll have to go out of their way to get it.

If I can’t trust the chief advisor to take his own advice, I’m not trusting them with my whereabouts.

Thank you for replying. I would say I’m a very compliant person too and I had no worries about the app at all but sadly the government have rapidly lost my faith lately and I shall definitely do my research and think carefully about it all. I just keep telling myself at least we’re not being led by Trump!

It's suddenly safe for vulnerable people to go back to work. Apparently.
If I got this text I would be so relieved to not be considered “as vulnerable”. I also don’t think it’s a good use of GP’s time to phone/write to everyone either.

As usual though no detail behind this decision, can you go back to work etc?

Not recieved the text message myself but read an article that says asthmatics, transplant patients and those with cancer are being dropped from the shielding list. I'm furious after shielding for 10 weeks. I'm now confused as to what's changed that suddenly makes it ok for me to go out

My daughter thinks the hospitals are closed 😬.
Probably because I'm forever shouting "BE CAREFUL! We cant go to the hospital!"

My dad ended up in hospital yesterday with a lung infection and without being tested was told it wasn’t covid. This just one day before track and trace is supposed to begin. The mind boggles.

I didn’t say you were being awkward, just that people have had to do this the entire time already. There is no social distancing in care, it’s not possible. You’re not obligated to use those services if you don’t feel that the conditions are safe enough.
No there isn't but care is essential..you are basiclaly front line...salons aren't. That's my point

The beauty salons in Spain the tec's are wearing full PPE

If people want their hair done they'll have to conform weather they like it or not
Something tells me that Karen's mobile hairdressing down the road won't bother with full PPE but I really hope that most salons do.

It would be something people would certainly have to question ,why would your doctor class you as vulnerable enough to shield but the government suddenly has different ideas ...Get rid of the OAPs now they're nearly all gone we'll get rid of the sick ..save a fortune on benefits that way👍

I think normal salons will be required to wear some form of PPE the same as the rest of the business world ,doesn't all businesses have to be covid secure.

I would be 100% checking with all your medical team before leaving the house,as I'm sure you will be .Who'd believe those crooks in parliment.
