Apparently it’s complete tosh and just an rumour at this stage.

Think with uni students is, they usually move to new cities. Live in very close proximities and socialise a lot with lots of groups. They aren’t going to bubble unless someone watches them all the time and they only live with people oh their course. There are huge volumes of people in and out of lecture halls.

I did art and it would be impossible to do at home without the tools and experts on hand.

Easier for Say an English degree but not possible for all course. If they got an outbreak it would spread like wildfire.

Sorry if this is a stupid question but I just don't remember. If someone in the house has tested positive how long does the people he lives with need to isolate too?
14 days from the first day of his symptoms

This! Being at uni and exposed to those germs I had the worst freshers flu ever (it’s a real thing!) and then ended up with Scarlett Fever. Both times, my symptoms could’ve easily passed for corona.

Every day I was in lectures with 300+ people. There’s no way to keep students who have moved to uni a lot of the time to get their own independence, meet new people etc to socially distance.

Uni’s will put up the argument that they’re hoping the likes of seminars with smaller groups to be able to continue and just lectures move online (this is what Cambridge seem to be wanting to do). Does this mean students will still be paying full price and also have no choice but to move back onto campus to attend those classes in person but be shut in uni accommodation the rest of the time? So rent costs as well as tuition for a half-experience.

Oh god, Fresher's flu was the WORST and I wasn't even out snogging any randoms!

I think I would defer for a year if I was a fresher. 2nd/3rd year maybe do online classes. But it breaks my heart as uni is such a great time for your independence. I can't imagine for 2nd/3rd year students how tough it will be either being in their uni town but not able to do anything or have to move home. I moved out for uni aged 19 and have never gone back to live at home as the thought is just too stressful to think about!!

I also never went back to live at home!! Come back home to lockdown and 10 weeks in I’m going mad😂 a large part of uni is the social experience and not being able to have that is massive. I really feel for current students :( I’d definitely be very stressed if I’d already had a-levels cancelled and now didn’t know if I would even be going to uni!!

I thought it was 14 but this guys adamant he only needs to take a week. Worries me for my friend. Thanks for answering
They say a week for the person showing symptoms ,but 2 weeks for anyone else in the household because of the time symptoms take to show x

The person who tested positive only needs to take 7, but everyone he lives with it’s 14.

No he needs to take 14 from the first day his son showed symptoms.

If I was due to start university I’d definitely defer. Part of experience is the socialisation, exploration of your newfound independence. Can’t really do that if you’re having to social distance. Waiting a year for the full experience both academically and socially would be worth the wait I think.

It’s a real shame for the new starters. Freshers week was always the best time.

Apparently not a single positive case in London and the east of England for 24 hours 🤔 I don’t want to be pessimistic but do we think that is accurate? Hope it’s not another shred of false hope 🤞🏼

Be interesting to see what the death toll is like today, wednesday is usually when it gets a bit more accurate without the weekend catch ups

What I've been waiting for. Did want to go to a clinic but they was over 3 hours away. With a 5 y/o and a 10m old would babe been a nightmare. Not much cheaper than a clinic seem legit testing and saves travelling.

Need to do abit more digging. You have to be over 18 to order one. Hope kids can be tested too.
