My friend is dying for another lockdown.. I’m almost at the point of blocking him over it. He doesn’t have much of a life ‘so it won’t effect’ him. He’s in his 30s and lives at home, never paid a bill or done a food shop in his life, he goes to work and straight back home - rinse and repeat everyday with no idea of how the world works.

He doesn’t understand the impact of having kids at home or how much the price of things have increased.
I couldn’t be friends with someone like that 😂

Requesting face masks at school drop off is going well….5% wearing them and my child’s own teacher isn’t bothering 😂

My sister has just got back from a weeks holiday. They ordered their PCR tests to arrive while they were away. They haven’t arrived. She’s been told they need to wait another 2 days for them to arrive and then will need to wait further for the results. Her and her husband have done lfts which are negative.
Due to the delays she is now going to miss an antenatal appointment.
My day 2 tests I ordered for my trip in November were sent out late and ended up due to arrive on day 5 - useless obviously. I pressed the company for a refund which they did give me in the end. Is there anywhere close to her she could book to go get the PCR done in person? Might be faster.

But if they were testing before admitting then they wouldn't allow them to be admitted.. unless they had to be admitted because they were that sick with Omicron. If it was for a routine Op or procedure it would be delayed.
So they've clearly tested positive since being there.
How would they know that a covid patient that has been admitted with a positive test has this variant? Another test?
Even if we choose to believe that then logistically that can't be maintained as more people need care. They're seriously going to test every single covid patient for a variant? No, they're going to assume it's Omicron.

If they are being super accurate then we need a separate list for Delta, or how else will we know if its Delta is Omicron causing serious illness?
Just touching on the not allowing positive patients into hospitals for procedures , it comes down to clinical decision from the referring consultant based on if urgent referral or routines as in are they are on a 2 week pathway , some clinicians will bring them in if it’s patients favour

The pressure is disgusting! I can't imagine how hard it must be to be a teenager or a student right now and not want the jab but want to be able to go to nightclubs and bars etc, the main way you socialise at that age.
Will they really stop them doing these things if they don’t take a booster?

Good idea. I’ve just messaged her. Thank you

I suffer from avpd (avoidant personality disorder) I don't really go out, I don't have friends to socialise with due to my anxiety and mental health. I only see my family. Lock down for me was pretty much my daily life anyway but no way would I want another one, especially for the sake of my daughters health and education. The only negative for me is not being able to see my Doctor face to face which has affected my mental health and wearing a mask can bring on panic attacks especially if I'm already stressed and anxious. Anyone that enjoys misery and seeing other people miserable clearly lead a miserable life.

Opposite at mine. You’re the odd one out if you don’t wear. I think it’s ridiculous but I did just have covid so I wore one but now I have a coldsore and the masks spread it and rub it so I’m not going to wear one OUTSIDE 🥺🙄🙄

Just booked my booster for Saturday. I'm scared to have it, but scared to not have it 🙄
I will have had 3 pfizers since the end of May if I have it. 3 vaccines in 7 months seems a lot. Yet we're been told we need 3 to protect against Omicron.

Omicron is 29% milder than the initial covid variant. Don’t fall for the scaremongering.

And you believe them

Said with respect no judgement
These people care sooo much about our health they don't allow us to see a doctor if it's not vaccine related, don't give a hoot about our mental health and are happy to have much needed NHS and care staff lose their jobs

Same here. Everyone wearing them. It's so frustrating, especially cold mornings when you are wearing glasses!

This does a good job of explaining

First line of this article

‘Two doses of some vaccines offer almost no protection from an Omicron infection, although they should still greatly reduce the risk of becoming so ill you need hospital care.’

So the first 2 vaccines give you no protection (way to talk the unvaccinated round) and this third dose should reduce risk, still no guarantees there. When is the next variant due that you’ll need the fourth booster for?

What I am understanding is two doses do not offer very much protection from Omicron infection (transmission/catching it) but still provide somewhat level of protection from severe illness.

Apparently we've now run out of PCRs in England now too at test sites 🙄. Couldn't make it up could you
