I had someone hold a pillow over my face in my teens "as a joke" and I could not breathe and genuinely thought I was gonna die. The mask brings up those similar feelings and even reassuring myself that it's not the same, I can breathe etc it makes no difference and then I start to panic. Just isn't worth it anymore for me anyway. If anyone starts on me I'll kindly tell them to just worry about themselves and their life and not waste energy on why someone like me is exempt from wearing the flipping things lolFor some people having their mouth covered is extremely traumatic. For some people their children are deeply distressed seeing their parents face mostly covered deeming them almost unrecognisable and quite scary when surrounded by everyone wearing masks. For some people they have sensory issues and feel incredibly distressed when fabric is touching them around their mouth.
You might not have an issue and that’s good for you, wear one. I won’t be and I’m not sorry about it.
This is all so shit.Hmmmm. Review in 3 weeks time. Christmas to be cancelled again then?
I think wearing a mask because you have to in your workplace is different to wearing a mask to do your weekly shop in Tesco. I don't think anyone expects people to risk their job but the longer people are happy to wear a mask to pick up their tin of beans the longer they will be required to. It is a nonsense. We all know it is. Time is up.It’s very easy for people to say just don’t wear a mask - some of us have no choice, I will literally get fired if I don’t. So what am I supposed to do? Lose my job, income and ultimately my home? To stand up to the man? We can’t all fight the big fight without huge consequences. If you are willing to accept those, then absolute kudos to you, but please don’t look down on those who aren’t.
We are really lucky that the virus knows the difference between Tesco and The Royal Oak pub. So clever! We don't need a mask in hospitality.
thats the problem, you have people again saying, oh i don’t mind wearing a mask, its only for a few weeks until we can get over the ‘worst of it’ and then 1 year later we’re still wearing them. Its never just a ‘few weeks’I can see both sides and try to understand everyone's point of view. I understand that people are anxious about getting ill etc but I just don't understand when it stops? So we have masks now for the new variant and most people have 3 jabs. Then what, a lockdown for a new variant? Then another jab? And then there's another new strain from somewhere else so masks back on etc etc ....
Where will people who are backing the restrictions actually draw the line? Its been going on nearly 2 years now and I seem to remember at the time people saying oh its only for a few weeks!
I don’t know what’s happening here it’s like the hunger games with both sides arguing and not a banana bread or Joe wicks in sight yet.Geez some people on this thread are gunning for a lockdown aren’t they, bet they couldn’t sleep last night with the excitement ffs
I’m with you. I do 12 hour shifts in a mask so when people moan about an hour in Tesco, I really have to bite my tongue. I didn’t sign up to nursing thinking this was how my days would go but here we are.May be an unpopular view here, but I am glad mask wearing is being brought back, I think,it should never been there got rid of.
A compliant, docile population that goes to work, pays their taxes & doesn't ask questions, is surely preferred by all Govts? Why would the government want to control "everything"? What advantages would the Covid "policies" bring the government?
So far their way to deal with Covid did them more harm then good: Matt Hancock ousted, Trump booed, BoJo heavily criticised....
I’m ao fucking pissed off with the masks returning, i don’t give a shit if nurses/doctors can wear them for 12 hour shifts, I can’t breath in them and i don’t want to wear one, my baby gets hysterical when she can’t see my face properly when we’re out.
What the fuck is the point of vaccines then if we still have to deal with this bullshit!?
Boris has learned from last year.
