The main reason I do not take these protesters seriously.

The UK is currently responsible for 1-2% of worldwide co2 emissions. Efforts are being made to reduce this to below zero over time - something we are continually not allowed for forget.

Yet these protesters continually seem to be ignorant to the larger producers of co2, namely China, Japan, Russia and the U.S.

Instead they makes peoples lives a misery here for little impact on a worldwide scale. If they are serious about their aims, then they should be going out to these countries and shaming them for their co2 emissions.

However they won't do that, as they are utter hypocrites.

Because none of it (Extinction Rebellion, Insulate Britain) is really about the climate at all.

That's just the cuddly concept that they are using to get some level of acceptance for their nuisance from certain sections of the public (especially the poor gullible sods that they've persuaded to be the foot soldiers and go stand on train roofs, smash bank windows, sit in front of lorries etc). Also to make things more difficult for the government to shut them down (pretending to be about climate change keeps the people in power who make the laws and set the jail sentences etc blindly sympathetic).

The reality is just old fashioned anarchy and civil disorder masterminded by a few that are well out of sight.

Not sure what their true motive or end game is, perhaps just distracting the police and courts while something else criminal is happening, or perhaps general breakdown of law and order. I'm sure we'll find out eventually, but it's not climate change.

What’s really annoying is the sanctimony of the middle class stunt protestors. The police are trying to protect their lives but are getting a great deal of grief in doing so.

I remember Greenham Common and had relatives on the police side trying to keep protestors from breaching the base. Stupid hags didn’t realise that they were feet away from American soil, and that as a nuclear site, the Americans were prepared to open fire on them and any unfortunate policeman trying to save them.

You see interviews with the now elderly protestors and 1) it made no difference to the presence of nukes in this country 2) they treated it like a holiday and a bit of fun when they put lives at risk.

I can see this going the same way.

One day but the woman who had to wait 6h for an ambulance is left effected for life.

I glad someone is starting to push back, one day one of them is going to get hurt and it is their own fault. Roads are for cars not people and if you sit on one you take the risk of getting run over.

They are not helping their cause but they are too blind sided to see it, must be nice to be free to sit on the road without much worry while other lose money, education, medical treatment.

I glad someone is starting to push back, one day one of them is going to get hurt and it is their own fault. Roads are for cars not people and if you sit on one you take the risk of getting run over.

They are not helping their cause but they are too blind sided to see it, must be nice to be free to sit on the road without much worry while other lose money, education, medical treatment.

I've seen suggestions that people should start carrying 2l bottles of cold water (OK I've also seen suggestions of worse contents like slurry or urine but don't think that necessary!) to pour over these protestors should you find them in the way of your car, and thus annoy them back without doing anything terribly illegal, like driving over them would be.

Also to have a bag of large cable ties in the boot, which could be used to secure them to nearby railings or lampposts (for their own safety, obvs) if they insist on running back into the road each time the public move them off to the side.

The fight back is coming, if the police continue to do nothing but offer them nice cups of tea, I think inconvenienced members of the public will soon start to take things into their own hands, but hopefully with harmless measures as above before someone is actually run over and squashed.

Watching that clip I had an OMG moment before I realised the woman's hands were free but made me think it's lucky she hadn't glued herself to the road - I hope they stop doing that bit of it at least because that's not going to end well, I don't see how it can.
I don't mean anything deliberate either, there's any amount of incidents where a car has been shunted forward by someone not stopping in time, even when there's been a couple of cars between.

They seem like good ideas, it is so easy to get squished on a road, all it takes is a high vehicle (lorry ect) going fast and it cannot stop in time. While I do not condone running them over, they take that risk by being on the road.

If they block the road, expect iriate drivers, threats of violence, or some trying to ram them out the way.

Alternatively, they should get off the motorways and stop playing with traffic and target the bigger companies etc rather than preventing innocent people, most of who probably do recycle etc and do their but for the environment living their lives! Idiots!
