Why are they targeting a green garden? I though plants = good and oil = bad but now potentially they’ve ruined the garden. Not very eco friendly is it?

To be honest I think If was still driving I too would stop like the other drivers all did. At 60/70mph I would be afraid of a counter law suit the most and of still being blamed. I can only imagine how traumatic hitting someone must be and all the PTSD it could cause.

What I was trying to say is what if you didn't have enough time and distance to stop and you hit one.

You surely wouldn't be at fault, or liable for any legal action.

I find it weird that there's so many older people captured by this movement. You expect younger people to be more idealistic but these women should know better by now.

A lot of them seem to be retired teachers, doctors and whatnot so I think there is a bit of boredom and wanting to carry on doing something that makes an impact but without the paperwork. But I genuinely think there is a lot of class differences driving it - protestors come across as really disliking the working class and target us as a matter of course.

Going back a little: a relative was a policeman on the Greenham Common Protests - it was all older / retired bored middle and upper class women on an adventure holiday…none of the press ever seemed to report on the simple fact that they were always trying to breach an American base. The police were simply trying to keep the women from being happily machine gunned down by US troops who made it clear that they would regard any protestor gaining entry to their site as a hostile (height of Cold War and stuff to do with the base being American soil) - reminds me about how the police are desperately trying to protect environmental protestors from infuriated members of the public today.

Going back even further, a lot of bollocks equating Just Stop Oil with the Suffragettes being thrown around too. Historically, those poshos specifically didn’t want the vote for working class women (again, a lot of these protestors really don’t like us). And their antics actually put back the rights of women for a time - it was the actual Suffragists who got us the vote and the first female MP was Lady Astor, who was not a suffragette.

Positive stuff is happening (wind farms, energy going carbon neutral, reduction of plastics, house insulation etc) but it is happening in spite of some bored posh folk seeking relevance, not because of them.

At least that’s what I tell myself when I get plipped in the face with the new style recyclable plastic caps on drinking bottles.

Just seen that, I don’t agree with that at all but I guess they are aware of these things when deciding to do an occupation, as they are aware the videos they are making to raise awareness will be seen by many- although actually looking someone up and then passing on their personal details is no way justified for that!

Insulate Britain: 10 arrested on M25 after protesters walk between lanes of oncoming traffic

A nationwide injunction granted against the group, covering the "entire strategic road network" has not deterred protesters from blocking the M25 again.

A spokesperson for the group, who gave his name as Biff, said safety was "paramount" and the protests would not have proceeded if cars did not slow down sufficiently.

"The intention is to enter the carriageway and walk towards the oncoming traffic along the white lines," he said.

"If cars don't slow down and are hurtling along at full speed then we will be on the hard shoulder wearing our hi-vis with the banners.

"We would hope that it slows down anyway.


He added: "We've had feedback that people are frustrated that they spent time in traffic queues.

"This is like a rolling traffic queue, so we'll move, and once they get to the front they will be able to move on.

"We're not planning to stop traffic but it could slow down to five miles an hour.
