It still is a term of endearment for me, but it's familiar and the key thing is the tone of voice it's said in and who's saying it. If a taxi driver said "Thanks hen" when I paid him or her, I'd be okay with that. I would not be okay with the same thing coming from my boss. Know your audience, so aye’Roasting’? Is it, aye?

I know we don’t get really hot weather up here but come on. I don’t understand why he gives Wincy Willis weather updates when he doesn’t ever seem to go out or even crack a window open?
I think he thinks it’s a term of endearment, but it is quite old fashioned imo. If someone over 70 said it that would be okay but anyone younger I always feel like it is calling a woman a bird? I cannot stop laughing at the drinks trolley, it is honestly such a ridiculous piece of tat! Apologies to those that had them in the 80s, my family were never boujie enough to own one 
He's banging on about how he loves the scent of all these cleaning products, call me old fashioned but I buy a cleaning product if it is good at what it should do, not just because it "smells amazing".
