No you’re not weird or greedy at all. This is a topic a bit too close to my heart as it reminds me so much of my one uncle and cousins and how they are to Mum. Mum puts a lot of thought into the gifts she buys and doesn’t even get a card herself or a thank you most of the time. In the days when I used to get a present from my uncle he’d have a thank you card before New Year’s Eve. My uncle earns a lot of money but is a tightwad and in my opinion has raised more of life’s takers.I tried to not buy anything for one my brothers and his 4 kids after last year but caved last minute and got them all stuff. Bought my other brother and his kid and dogs quite a lots of stuff . I’m vulnerable so alone this Christmas. They picked it up from outside my door, didn’t say thank you or anything and honestly presents mean nothing but the fact they didn’t even give me a card from my nieces and nephews broke me. As soon as I shut the door I burst into tears. Am I just weird or greedy wishing for a card?

A card is nothing but a simple gesture and every time I looked for Christmas cards in the supermarket this year I saw a load of nice ones for aunts.

every year i get a dove set from an elderly aunt (extended family so rarely see her) and i've been highly allergic to dove since i was a child, least it was a small one unlike last years giant hamper with every single product dove sold (i always donate them to a woman's refuge so they don't get wasted. i got makeup which i don't really wear that often, i got an electric toothbrush and it had the wrong plug on it, so i have had to order a adapter for it
Damn I would frickin love a dove set I’m allergic to most things so can sympathise but not dove!!
I associate hot water bottles with women for period pains haha! I wouldn’t just do one randomly unless I have period pains then I do it

This year she’s outdone herself and bought our 7 (almost 8) year old aged 6-7 clothes. She’s a beanpole but she’s long, so the t-shirt is tiny on her, and the trousers and tights are too short. MIL told her over FaceTime she’d just have to ‘do some extra dance classes’ to fit into it.
Livid isn’t even the word.
This year she’s outdone herself and bought our 7 (almost 8) year old aged 6-7 clothes. She’s a beanpole but she’s long, so the t-shirt is tiny on her, and the trousers and tights are too short. MIL told her over FaceTime she’d just have to ‘do some extra dance classes’ to fit into it.

I got 'upgraded' a dress size from my sister and from medium to large by my AuntieThankfully I didn’t get too many crappy pressies this year…. Although I got pjs 2 sizes too big from my mum…. Again

where would she even get the weed thinking it's tea?? her dealer must be in all sorts of businesses. I hate to sound ungrateful, but my goodness, the shower sets. Specifically Baylis and Harding, I find them so impersonal. I can’t use them because of my skin conditions yet people still buy them for me. I literally have 4. They’ll be heading straight to the womens refuge.
You’re not ungrateful at all. I completely get this, it is upsetting to get gifts when you realise that people don’t “get” or truly know you. It is so wasteful and it makes me angry because I know people will have spent money on them. That’s why I always ask for vouchers to the stores I like (if asked) yet people think this isn’t a “proper” gift. I have no idea why, it’s so frustrating as I see it as wasted money on their part…

Toothbrushes (and electric shavers) always come with that 2-pin plug. UK voltage means only 2-pin sockets are allowed in bathrooms, it’s just a safety thing, not a dig from your gift-giver
