Thats terrible from your partner who should be leading by example and how old are your children? If they are old enough to buy you something then I'd be really pissed off, unless it was agreed beforehand no presents.I didn't get a single present or card from my partner or kids. I should be used to this by now as it happens most birthdays and Christmas but it feels like an extra kick in the teeth at the moment. I've been really suffering with my mental health the last couple of months and though I know I'm not worthless, it certainly doesn't go any way to making me feel cared about.
I'm really dreading going back to work next week and being asked the usual "did you get anything nice" and hearing what efforts everyone else's families have made.
I know it’s like wtf now but as long as it’s actually winter when she’s in those sizes you’ll be like omg how handyMy friend mentioned a while ago that she was going to buy my baby an outfit as part of her Christmas present, so I told her what size she’s in now but also suggested getting the next size up as she’s getting big quickly.
Opened her gifts to find a selection of lovely winter clothes in sizes 12-18 and 18-24 months. My baby is 3 months old![]()
I'm sorry but you should not be used to that nonsense. You need to kick his/her a because that is not admissible.I didn't get a single present or card from my partner or kids. Not the case if comparing with other peoples presents including what dh got. I’m not upset or angry just a bit confused. She made it clear it wasn’t a subscription and just a one off box.Or maybe she’s just trying to be more conscious after the last two years…![]()
You didn’t sound ungrateful don’t worry. Not the case if comparing with other peoples presents including what dh got. I’m not upset or angry just a bit confused. She made it clear it wasn’t a subscription and just a one off box.
But I know how ungrateful that makes me sound so I’m not completely unaware.
See I use to do this when my son was small, but a few years down the line they have either grown out of it already, wrong season or in the case of my child… “gustin mummy”If I ever have a baby I can see myself doing that too if it was a really good sale.
Same. And then I feel guilty for feeling crappy for not getting a present. Even though a bloody card that the husband had taken the kids to put some thought into choosing and writing would have been enough, you know?I didn't get a single present or card from my partner or kids. Same. Rubbish isn't it! XxSame. And then I feel guilty for feeling crappy for not getting a present. Even though a bloody card that the husband had taken the kids to put some thought into choosing and writing would have been enough, you know?
So I basically ran around like a blue arsed fly in the run up to Christmas, stayed up stupid late to put stockings in rooms when they were finally asleep, got up stupid early Christmas morning and spent hours putting stuff together, picking up wrapping paper etc before cooking dinner then had friends showing me all this stuff they’d got and I’d not even got a card.
Then I felt selfish for feeling that way.
Rant over. Hope you’re feeling a bit better today
I love this plot twist!Confession
I necked the echo falls from the echo falls gift set while doing the washing up. Not really a wine fan but it’s wet and I needed it after a day of my son giving me attitude.
IT WASNT THAT BAD!!!!

My MIL is the same.My MIL always buys clothes the wrong size for the kids. Always.
This year she’s outdone herself and bought our 7 (almost 8) year old aged 6-7 clothes. She’s a beanpole but she’s long, so the t-shirt is tiny on her, and the trousers and tights are too short. MIL told her over FaceTime she’d just have to ‘do some extra dance classes’ to fit into it.
Livid isn’t even the word.
