Until I had a child I had less than zero interest in Halloween decorations, nowadays my house is unfortunately under siege, awash with a sea of plastic skeletons and mismatched pumpkins on every surface, I even found myself purchasing pumpkin themed tinsel the other day

I try to keep my inside Halloween decor classy but everyone else in this house ruins it .

Yes! We do two separate trips- one for Harrods and another one to do Selfridges, Regents Street and Liberty. The lights and window displays are magical

I need to buy a new Christmas tree this year (as our old one was bought by my Ex and over 10 years old, it was also 8ft tall which was always a pain in the a because our ceilings are only just over 8ft) anyway I'm currently torn between throwing financial caution to the wind and dropping £250 on a 7ft Balsam Hill one OR buying a more budget friendly one from Homebase (there's a couple I've seen, with the current 20% off discount, they're either just over £100 or £145)

My quandary is will I regret just paying £100 for one and wish I'd bought the Balsam Hill instead? Looking at the tip count of the trees, the BH one is double, so it clearly is better/ will look better.

Or do I buy a really cheap one just for this year and wait til Spring/Summer when the BH trees might be more discounted?

I’ve learned the hard way, far too many times , you’ll be happier in the long run getting the one you really want. So if it was me, the Homebase trees would be out.
I’d go cheap tree for this year and wait for the sale.

Agree - or alternatively if you don’t want the ex’s tree in the house this year, have a reset with a “real” tree for the year before buying in the sale. Better for the planet too as buying that amount of plastic for a single year’s use isn’t the best x

I am desperate for a balsam hill tree! They have a 40% sale at the moment but I’m going to wait til next year to get one I think, but I can’t decide which! Does anyone have one, and which style did you go for?

I bought mine in the 30% off sale 2/3 weeks ago which was cheaper than the sale that is on now. I went for the Canadian blue green spruce, I've always loved it and it was only £149 for the 6ft unlit.

Me and a friend always have a "festive day" - date pending as no doubt be train strikes over most weekends . We go to see the trees - St Pancras, Covent and to laugh at Trafalgar Squares half dead one. Bop to Fortnums etc and then Oxford St. I love it

bought this one which i'm planning to wear over xmas! some gold bits in so sparkly but not in your face festive. a little tickly at first but like a soft souffle yarn and although the buttons are fixed i guess you could wear it backwards too for a cardi look
