The stove was before I started watching, but did he beg for money for the drones? I thought getting better equipment was why he upped his game with the daily vlogs. Not at all comparable to Pathetik.
I don't know but I was raised not ever to talk about money issues. If you need to buy something save for it and buy it. If it takes too long to save work more or get another (maybe unpleasant) job.
If you don't want to work more go and talk to the bank and get a credit.
Or come with a payment plan and ask directly someone you know who has money to lend. ( this was actually never an option for my parents but I saw others asking them for money in emergency situations and they would only give it to them if those people presented a reasonable plan to pay it back)
And an urgency thing would be to repair the heating but it might happen that the wouldn't lend them money if they felt those people wasted it the years before on expensive candles, travels, clothes, party, etc. Since the only reason the were able to give them money was that they didn't spend it on jewelry or other frivolities. Not very Christian maybe but life was hard for them, too.
If someone would casually mention at a dinner that "things are expensive" or "xy got broken" or "if I had a drone I could make better videos" they would get very nervous fearing someone is about to beg for money and they would never give them any money because they would feel this person is not honest. And they would be embarrassed for the other person because that's just how their concept of honor is.
I feel that's the way how beggars get their way very often , people give because it's intolerable to see someone loosing his proud. (sorry, can't explain it better in English)
That's just how I feel about Marie or Dan or the rest, too, sure it's not obvious like Michaels begging but still, why mention it all? Keep your money issues to yourself and just find a way to solve them.
Wouldn't it have been better Dan wouldn't have mentioned the equipment and just started to vlogg daily? He could have just easily bought the new drone without any mentioning and people would see the difference anyway but feel more comfortable. There's so much he could vlogg all day long why showing the broken car all the time?
I know these days certain things are not off limits to talk about anymore like they used to be (and most of it I welcome) but mentioning money problems to strangers on youtube is something I would NEVER do especially when my kids are in the same video or in my vlogs! What does it teach them? I just feel sad for them😌

Am I the only one who is 'triggered' (;)) by film or tv driving scenes where, almost always, the driver engages in long conversations with the passenger, whilst earnestly emoting? Many seconds of NOT looking at the road ahead or mirrors etc. The Damaury video was so natural as Armoire kept his eyes fixed on the road whilst chatting, as did passenger Dan. As we ALL do, except in movie land (or FRK world😜).
I'm glad I'm not the only one. I usually end up staying out loud "omg. They are going to crash, aren't they" during all of those scenes.

I did not think that once during the vlog so it must have been perfectly safe driving. Lol
But in all seriousness, I didn't see anything odd or risky at all with those two chatting while driving

Though I can't forgive them that they can't put some sense into Steph. Surely they could have talked her out of buying radiators from UK?
So far we haven't seen Amaury work much actually:
he carried the panels in with help from others-2 hours work maybe?
He worked on those shutters for months now sofar not finished but a trip across Europe necessary (didn't they talk it through on phone what his jobs would be and what tools he would need? )
He assisted Dan with the poles and hey, guess what: project stopped and is not finished because of what?
He cleaned out the barn again with help from others - again an afternoon of work only. It took even Phil over year to get his own space 😜

He run a couple of times around the house to check the radiators. Sorry, but right thing to do would have been to stop the heating system and call an emergency heating engineer (and there are some!) and when they are reluctant to come stop by several times to show the urgency when going to the village fetching bread. Not to cut all the radiators off, they actually made it worse. Would you have done this in your house?

Sofar he has only hooked up with Nati and I am just waiting for the chateaubaby... There will be tears sooner or later....

Sorry, but Amorty has not amortised sofar imho😜😜😜

And what about Dan bringing her new chicks though he sees how she is with animals? And he was seeing doing things the way he wants so it's not like he has lots of respect towards her and doesn't dare to challenge her.
We only see what our blond vlogger want us to see. Most of the time she is too absorbed with fluffl to point the camera at actual work. Considering he is missing most of his tools, the work he has done on the shutters is actually quite impressive.

He was also pulled away from carpentry in-order to scrub pans for a week (or two)?

As for the radiators, considering they had installed an English boiler and radiator system... Perhaps this limits the number of French experts willing to work on it? Being from north america, it's not my place dog expertize, but other tatttlers have expressed that the systems are rather different. So perhaps they painted themself Ina corner with that purchase. They now need an expert in the English heating system to fix it? Perhaps that isn't as easy to find in France

"we need a new oven or my kids will freeze"
" I need a drone"
"I need another drone because I was careless with the old one "
And he bought those things with his own money. The camera he needed for vlogging... He bought by increasing his vlog output to a daily so he could afford it. He didn't make a go fund me of buy me coffee. He worked harder, saved up for it and bought it himself.
I guess the rule is no one is ever to express that anything is broken, anything needs to be replaced or anything is going to be purchased ever.

In truth, these little bits of info ( e.g. I have to finish this room and install this stove asap so the kids don't get cold) create some urgency and drama which is also good for film making. It also happened to be true. And I haven't gone back to the old vlogs... But I think the stove was already on order by the time he said it. It really wasn't a complaint or a beg. It was a "here's the plan"

To me the system didn't look any different than in Austria. And certainly a french heating engineer can be of better help than a carpenter or cook.

So I can't mention my car is broken and I need to buy new one because people might think I want their money?

Crazy way of thinking ...

If someone tells me their fridge is broken or the heating needs repair, I just take it as matter of fact not as hidden begging.

Must be terrible to understand every mention of something broken as someone being after your cash.

I remember he had a go fund me for the oven, anyway people can give via patreon if the choose to give so he has means to receive money from others.
Also: I am not saying he is the worst out there, maybe I am so strict with him because I still have hopes, on the other people I actually gave up already .

Agreed. It's a way of story telling. Sharing what's going on in our lives and commiserating.
Just recently another tattler shared that they had their air conditioning unit die (or was it heating) and the trouble that would be to repair. Pretty sure that didn't end up being an ask for a handout. Just the opposite, it was a way to commiserate and share woes with the community here.

I remember he had a go fund me for the oven,
I personally don't remember this. Does anyone else? I feel like the Dan fandom would have died in tattleland the moment that happened... And it lives strong here.

From Dan's latest vlog :

It seems that not everybody is a fan of our Chatelaine...

14 hours agoSometimes I feel like Amaury and Dan is the only two people in the chateau who seems relatable. They depict the real chateau life and are honest about it in a good sarcastic way. Dan is doing a lot of work aside from gardening and yet he seems not part of the inner chateau group coz he is not into fancy things.

I don't recall that as well and I've watched all his vlogs (during lockdown if that's an excuse). The only time I remember them getting anything from their fans was the chandelier in the kitchen. Annalise was literally moved to tears and it very clearly wasn't expected. You could clearly tell she didn't quite know how to react and wasn't used to any handouts.

Anyway, Dan delivers on renovating that cottage and if he doesn't show family life in detail: good on him!!!

You're digging deep there!
Luckily, Rien's rabbit hole is as shallow as a frog's pond - ribbit!
I've been wondering how he could keep living in Thailand. He must have a visa, and then having to go to the immigration office every 90 days to renew his visa. His relationship with Dawny is beneficial for him. If he has a relation to a citizen - romantic relationship - he might get permanent residency quicker. Dawny on the other hand, is a tougher nut to crack. I wondered if she was of mixed ethnicity, because her English is much better than expected, but I believe it's just being surrounded by tourist, she has been able to improve on her English. Also, Dawny might be interested in keeping the relationship going, as she saw how he could pay for her hosptial bills. Saddned to say some women in Thailand aspire to have a foreigner boyfriend to pay for their upkeep. (Not all. Aunty Ohm and Uncle Lee are a prime example!). But if it is true love - which I doubt, looking at the way Rien behaves - then it's true love, and then I shall stand corrected, until then time will tell. - RANT OVER.

Robyn Carr
Sounds like an amazing drag name...

Glad Christie's chose pictures of the vignettes without SJ in them. They look so much better, even though they are over the top and over crowded.

Possibly you’ve forgotten the kitchen floor, also fan donated. Go fund me for heating, completed in less than a week. And the failed go fund ‘buy me a Chanel chateau’, that tattle outed.

Setting up a Patreon, go fund me, buy me a coffee, etc. introduces a new level of scrutiny. As many have pointed out before, there are fans out there who want to support their favorite YouTuber above and beyond than just being a subscriber. And that’s fine (I’m a Patreon of another unrelated channel…I have no issues with it). As long as Dan is open about it, transparent about the funds, and uses the funds for the intended purpose. So far, that’s what I’ve seen from him. However, for example, if he collects cash, skips town for a couple of months to blow his money on hotels, booze, and escorts…then cries poverty, begs for more cash, and then goes BACK to Spain and is caught on a party boat scoping out the “dolphins,” I would have a problem with that.

Oh good to know. Other people mentioned how they aren't compatible ... English boiler needs English heater thingies (haven't had coffee... Can't think of words yet). So I presumed it meant that the systems must be somewhat different. My misunderstanding

It hurts me a bit. I'll take coffee if you don't mind. But here we go

Dan is the worst indirect money grifter there is.

As for Diesel. I love dogs. I've never liked little mop dogs though. All they do is bark... Yap .. bite at heals. Not my thing. As you said, useless

He later removed the go fund me after it was discussed heavily on tattle. But kept patreon.
And don't forget this weird chateau crowd funding

Perhaps he closed the “go fund me” for the pellet stove because he collected the funds, met the goal, and bought the pellet stove? Goal set, met, and achieved? If so, great! My problem is the “go fund me” for projects that never seem to end…perpetual projects that always need funding, never get done…a financial black hole. Where does the money go? Is the project being mismanaged? Are the funds being used for their intended purpose?
