I don't know but I was raised not ever to talk about money issues. If you need to buy something save for it and buy it. If it takes too long to save work more or get another (maybe unpleasant) job.The stove was before I started watching, but did he beg for money for the drones? I thought getting better equipment was why he upped his game with the daily vlogs. Not at all comparable to Pathetik.
If you don't want to work more go and talk to the bank and get a credit.
Or come with a payment plan and ask directly someone you know who has money to lend. ( this was actually never an option for my parents but I saw others asking them for money in emergency situations and they would only give it to them if those people presented a reasonable plan to pay it back)
And an urgency thing would be to repair the heating but it might happen that the wouldn't lend them money if they felt those people wasted it the years before on expensive candles, travels, clothes, party, etc. Since the only reason the were able to give them money was that they didn't spend it on jewelry or other frivolities. Not very Christian maybe but life was hard for them, too.
If someone would casually mention at a dinner that "things are expensive" or "xy got broken" or "if I had a drone I could make better videos" they would get very nervous fearing someone is about to beg for money and they would never give them any money because they would feel this person is not honest. And they would be embarrassed for the other person because that's just how their concept of honor is.
I feel that's the way how beggars get their way very often , people give because it's intolerable to see someone loosing his proud. (sorry, can't explain it better in English)
That's just how I feel about Marie or Dan or the rest, too, sure it's not obvious like Michaels begging but still, why mention it all? Keep your money issues to yourself and just find a way to solve them.
Wouldn't it have been better Dan wouldn't have mentioned the equipment and just started to vlogg daily? He could have just easily bought the new drone without any mentioning and people would see the difference anyway but feel more comfortable. There's so much he could vlogg all day long why showing the broken car all the time?
I know these days certain things are not off limits to talk about anymore like they used to be (and most of it I welcome) but mentioning money problems to strangers on youtube is something I would NEVER do especially when my kids are in the same video or in my vlogs! What does it teach them? I just feel sad for them
