I might have considered it if it was a Tuesday/Wednesday but it’s Friday!! I’d be sending him in and saying once you get home you can just eat tea, have a bath and have a very early night and you’ll catch up on sleep that way. No need for the day off especially when he won’t be in bed all day he’ll want to be on his phone/devices/playing. With kids you’ve got to learn the game, what 10 year old is going to claim they’re exhausted from not sleeping and then actually spend all day in bed doing nothing?! I’d always give the option “you can go to school and then when you get home have a lovely relaxing night doing whatever you want” or “well you can stay off if you want but if you’re that tired you can’t be on your PlayStation or your phone you’ll need to sleep and rest in a calm quiet room”. You can guarantee what the choice would be. But Charl won’t parent.

My boy woke up with a black eye yesterday morning after colliding with another lad at football training the night before. He still went to school.

So she's feeling unwell but still going out and socialising? Have we understood nothing from Covid? I get life cannot stop for everything but if you're feeling like tit maybe don't spread your germs unless you absolutely have to, like those that have no choice but to go out to work when they're ill.
I just remembered what I did last Friday! My eldest turned 10. She was up about 3 times from midnight. Saying she couldn't sleep. Decided to get herself up at 4am to watch TV and feed the cat! She then went to breakfast club at 7:30. School as normal. Then after school club til 5:30. Now she was shattered, and emotional, but made it through! So I very much agree that Bill needs to stop being treated like a 5 year old!
Did she really need to tell her grandad why she was in the doctors?! She could have simply said a check up or medication review, she didn’t have to tell him she was getting her mouldy fanny out

So she “feels fine” but has kept Bill off? We all know colds feel worst when you get up and moving about makes us feel much better (and school will send them home if they’re having a genuinely tough time. They know when kids aren’t coping).
She says all her social engagements are really important (yeah, because PTA gin evening sounds like a completely necessary trip). So either Bill is too ill for school but she’s happy to pass her virus around to multiple groups of people OR she’s unnecessarily kept a child off school and is complaining about a mild cold.
If I have a (mild) virus and HAVE to go places I wear a mask, now, to keep others safe. If it’s more than mild I don’t go out. Anyone want to take bets on whether Charlotte will put a mask on?
