I just had a look on. Theatreboard and there were a few people saying they thought Celinde Schoenmaker would've been perfect for the role. I can just see Carrie reading that and raging 😂
Celinde is an actual West End Leading Lady these days though, she has no need of low budget provincial tours :ROFLMAO:

Her next step will probably be something big on Broadway.

I've just seen that Crabbie isn't doing the 1st March in Woking, which will be due to Mabelthorpes first birthday. Unfortunately there's no such pop ups for any of my local dates so I won't be buying any tickets.

Thanks for posting this, Woking's my local, I love Calamity Jane and definitely didn't want to see her butchering the role so guess I'll be there on the 1st 🤣

The fact that this counts as acting is hilarious to me. She uses the exact same face for every emotion these different characters go through.
It’s like her aggressive expression and tone of voice when talking about the most mundane things on social media. I’ve been convinced for a long time that she has no idea what true emotional reactions are and it shows in her „acting“.

That cameo Joel reposted wishing someone a happy sixteenth birthday 😳 he can't help but display his stalker vibes.

"I know your coming to London....I know your going to be watching Frozen and Book of Mormon.....I know your bedroom walls are pink.... I know you still hear the screaming of the lambs in you sleep, Clarice.....but what you don't know that I do is that your coming.... to see Hamilton in August... you might even meet me.... we might even meet for a nice dinner of fava beans and a bottle of chianti .... 😏 Happy Birthday, Clarice. I do hope the lambs stop screaming for you soon...."

*some of this I may have taken some artistic license with.

I know we’ve mentioned on here how awful Joel’s dress sense is, but this is a new one. Why on earth is he wearing his socks up to his knees?!?

Of course he looks gormless too!
not to defend John but they’re compression socks, used quite often by runners to increase blood flow in your legs. God knows why he’s wearing them unless he’s taken up running…?

Found this gem of a comment under the What's On Stage post 😂 Joel should probably change his hashtag to 'PartTimeWorkingMummy
Someone is also asking about stage door as they want to bring something cute for Mabel, good way to get even more free stuff for her daughter 🙄

Women who take photos of themselves breastfeeding and then post it to social media are attention seeking dicks. This is a hill I will die on.

I've been knocked on my arse with covid this week, and omg, so many pages to catch up on.

I haven't seen Calamity Jane, but after watching the clips that have been posted here - that character looks like the complete opposite of Carrie??? (and we all know Carrie can't act, so how is she going to pull that off?)

The character gives off similar vibes to the main character in the fallout show? Or am I way off?

Carrie is cringe, clumsy and out of shape. How in the duck is she going to give off slick, badass and sexy???

The promo video is cringe as duck and really gives away how badly this is going to go.

Carrie is a big wet blanket who's never done anything for herself. She relies on men and her family to appease her. There's no way she should be playing a powerful woman. She doesn't know what that is.

(p.s. Joel's a disgusting misogynist, pass it on)

So mabel will be on tour with her, wonder who's going with her to watch baby while she's on stage etc.
They really haven't got a clue who they really have employed have they? 😂

Why does her neck look like an old woman's in that photo and who gives a tit if you are breastfeeding, so bleeping bored 😴

GARY OTHER PARENTS WORK

YOU WILL HAVE SOMEONE ON TOUR WITH YOU

DON'T MAKE OUT YOU ARE SOME bleeping SUPERWOMAN WHEN YOU AREN'T

My opinion but I think you are a selfish cow dragging Mabel around on tour for over a year.

You are meant to cherish your child's 1st year not just dump her left right and centre.

You don't need to work unlike NORMAL WORKING PARENTS

You really only had your daughter to tick a box.

Why not leave her at home with John, least she will be in her own room, with her Father (you seem to forget she has one) and near family.

BUT YOU WON'T WILL YOU?

Let's count down the days until a stalker posts a photo of Mosquito online!

ETA I went back to work after my son but still cherished his first year by coming home to him and my husband after work or taking him out as I was lucky I could work part time.

I guess, at least taking her on tour with an actual production is *somewhat* better than taking her on Carrie's concert tour because if something really did go wrong and Mabel needed medical attention or something, they can send the alternate on and no harm done.

But otherwise, it just seems like a really horrendous idea. They've been so needlessly anal about needing her in a routine at a young age, when at this point in her development, it largely doesn't matter, especially when you've got one parent not working and both having the flexibility of not needing to be up in the mornings. But it will matter more the older she gets, and they're planning on Carrie just dragging her around the country for nine months and leaving her with whoever. I'm no fan of Joel's, but surely she'd be better off at home in her own bed, with Dad there most of the time and maybe the grandparents or a regular nanny/babysitter in the evenings when he's at work. Hell, as expensive as childcare is, they've got the money. They could comfortably afford to put her in nursery a couple of days a week, and then she's at least getting in some engagement and socialisation with other kids. Don't think there's much chance of that when she's off on tour with Mumma. It's giving me Colleen Ballinger vibes, ngl.

Honestly, I'm surprised Joel is cool with this given how much time he's going to miss out on with his daughter. If he's already feeling like he's struggled to bond with her, this can only make it worse. I'm sorry, but if you don't feel comfortable leaving your child home with your husband, who's also their father, that's a massive red flag...not that those have ever bothered Carrie.

It completely is opposite of carrie. Calamity is this rugged outcast not the mediocre acting that carrie will try to send over.
It's one of my favourite musicals and I wanna see it but praying I get her understudy

The character isn’t slick, badass and sexy though and Carrie playing her that way or leaning hard into the smug ‘not like other girls’ version of the character is totally wrong.

The clue is in her name, she’s a calamity, boisterous and quick tempered but also kind and likeable. I just can’t see Carrie pulling off the comedy parts, she’s painfully unfunny and will be stomping about the stage shouting in a bad old west accent. Can you imagine her saying ‘sassparilly’ or ‘I fell in that dang blasted crick!’ I can’t wait to see some sneaked recorded footage of her on stage.

It’s a long time since I watched Calamity Jane but this was my takeaway; she’s someone who is irritating for a myriad reasons but underneath it hugely endearing.

At least Carrie has half of that covered I suppose
