I think it’s because Oliver seemed to move in with Carrie as soon as the relationship was announced. It was the end of a Heathers vlog when she went home to the flat and Oliver opened the door to her and she filmed herself kissing him. Now we know that Carrie just prefers for people to come to her rather than going to anyone else’s place. And then when she bought the house, Oliver moved in with her there. She talked about how both she and Oliver moved into her brothers when the work was being done on the house. She’s always been weird about living with boyfriends but we only noticed how much with the rapid relationship she had with John!Didn’t happen. He was in a house share.
He spent time at Alessia’s place of course - why wouldn’t he? - but they didn’t officially move in together until Oli bought his new place.
Always makes me laugh how people have invented this story that he’s a freeloader out of nowhere

Yeah, considering she had Joel move in on the night of their first date, this seems definitely more like a crazy Carrie thing.
I’ll have to say I never understood how quickly Carrie was willing to move in with her partners, to me she did that fairly quickly even before John (with him it was just insane since it was after the first date).
I love living with my partner (first time doing that in a relationship) but I cherish the memory of the first couple of years when we lived apart: the excitement at getting ready to go on a date with him, or preparing my bag to go spend the weekend at his place or getting my room ready to have him come over and planning what we would cook together.
I don’t know why someone wants to rush things when beginnings are so magical. It’s like she wants to live the old married life with every one of her partners. I can see why someone like Oliver would have felt suffocated. It probably suits John because he is as boring and lazy as she is.
I never understood why she would want to miss out on that sweet time where you know you're together but you still both have your own place. Maybe it's because I've always appreciated my 'me time' but I loved getting to choose when to be alone and when to be together. I love living together now too but we've used that time to really get to know what the other person needs and wants. They never did that. And the weird excuse of 'We'd never be able to see each other otherwise!' .. okay? And the solution to that was let's move in after the first date even though I have no idea who you actually are? Insane

i've been with my boyfriend for around 7-8 months now (3 months dating, then official etc) and we've talked about moving in together, and as much as i'd love to, i'm honestly not ready for anything to change yet. it's so exciting getting ready to see him, and pack my bags for a few nights at his when we have a lot of plans, then spending 3-4 nights apart because it gives us room to miss each other...
it means you can't keep your hands off each other when you're together again. i'd imagine moving in so fast means you don't get to experience that as much

I think you’re all missing the part where Carrie wasn’t interested in a ‘normal’ relationship. Joel was a box-tick exercise for her because she was breaking her neck to ‘win’ at the milestones after breaking up with Oliver she didn’t care about building anticipation to see him etc because she doesn’t fancy him much.
