Books about beauty really are quite pointless these days aren't they? I was looking through an old Beauty Bible the other day, probably not even that old, and the advice and recommendations seem just quite quaint and not really very useful (rather like the book which accompanied Susannah and Trinny's 'What not to Wear' - hilarious).
I think I would only consider actually buying one if it covered beauty tips and looks from famous people eg old Hollywood, or beauty care around the world eg Moroccan hammams. Something more interesting than 'buy X to do this'.
OMG, that Susannah and Trinny book, someone on Twitter posted screenshots a while ago, the clothes were hilariously bad 🤣

Edit: found it!

I unfollowed her on everything when she told JK Rowling to "get in the bin" about that menstruation tweet that kicked off the TERF accusations. CH has a history of supporting the Eve charity who use "woman" on their gynae cancer comms so it seemed hypocritical to me. Not even looked at the book to see if she's used "woman" in a menopause section but it wouldn't surprise me. More concerned with getting "woke points" than taking the time to think about what she's supporting with her shitty hot take.

I joined THE GROUP on facebook. Some woman just posted a photo of herself with this caption. Whatever your thoughts, Caroline's response was needlessly aggressive. In her own group of 'fans', created to try connect with them and therefore sell more shit she shills....she thought this was a good way to speak to someone?

Oh apparently she's edited the comment (I can't see that), someone mentioned this and this was her response...

I've not really been in the skincare bubble on social media but more recently just been trying to learn a bit more about skincare generally so started to see what's happening.

I didn't know anything about CH but came across her insta and watched her fenty skin review. I did think something was off but gave her the benefit of the doubt and watched a couple of her other videos. It pretty much confirmed what I thought originally and this thread has shown it's not just me!

The whole rudeness, abrasiveness of her interactions is totally unnecessary. Also as I didn't know her before how she's dismissive of certain brands, etc is just bizarre and like she's trying to get more attention so people ask why she has a problem with xyz.

Also good to read up on Sali Hughes on here as she is another person where I had a gut feeling on something being off

Continue here everyone 😊

A summary of the previous thread would be that in general, we were all questioning the type of merch she is selling - IE tacky mugs and bookmarks. Also it was pointed out that most of the influencers that have the book are borderline sycophantic or mentioned in there as a recommended brand so are obviously bias.

I just saw on Caroline’s Instagram stories that she had her hair dyed at Josh Wood Colour at midnight. There was nobody else in the salon. It’s very “her” to have to be the first to do something, isn’t it? The colourist said that she finally finished the appointment at 2:50AM! I think that goes above and beyond personally.

Any money she raises will be a drop in the ocean compared to the cash needed to help these beauty businesses. This should be the GOVERNMENT'S job. Raising charity money takes the pressure off the government. Sir Tom raising all that money for the NHS was incredible and heartbreaking at the same time. It shouldn't be necessary and in any event the amount raised was not anywhere near enough to make that big a difference. Sad but true. I wish it had been...truly. It made me sick watching the government applaud him. They should be ashamed.
I can't help but see her now as Caroline "Bob Geldolf shouting "Give me yer fooking money"" Hirons now. Again, Live Aid was incredible, admirable ground breaking and awareness raising but the real economic problems were WAY greater.

Don't vote Tory and campaign for Universal Basic Income!

I think the aggression is because really anyone with a bit of nouse can be clued up on skincare these days. The information is on the internet for free. Her skill isn’t special, she isn’t clever enough to be a derm (not a dig, most people aren’t!) and she’s being overtaken by real beauty nerds. Her ‘straight talking‘ persona worked for a while but it’s crossed the line into downright rude and, on occasion, cruel.

I am not here to bash teachers police or nurses but it interests me that there is this hierarchy of jobs in the sense of expecting praise and recognition. During lockdown I have gone to work every day. I have had 6 days holiday the whole time because we were on reduced staff. I had no secretary as she was furloughed. Clients still expecting the same service as always perhaps even more so as a lot of them were at home with more time on their hands. All of this with 50% pay cut...... people reading this thinking - Christ Wobblehead that’s a bit crap. I now tell you I am a lawyer and my sympathy rating plummets. I type this not excepting any thanks, recognition or sympathy but because as I say above the job hierarchy sympathy scale fascinates me. I wonder what others thoughts are on this.
I'm also a lawyer, I've had two days annual leave this year so far. I specialise in Wills and Probate so was considered a key worker during lockdown and had to make a couple of home visits to elderly and sick clients to ensure that their Wills were signed, potentially putting myself and them at risk of Covid.

Like you, half of the departments secretarial support was furloughed and clients have been even more demanding. At one point I was dealing with all new enquiries by myself as my colleagues were too busy to take new work on. This was also after my colleague, who was retiring this summer, was furloughed and her files split between me and one other colleague.

I get annoyed when people think lawyers earn a lot of money. This might be true of commercial lawyers but most of us are probably earning much less than you think. There is also a big thing about lawyers doing pro bono and charity work, find me another service provider who people expect to work for free?

I get very annoyed with people like Martin Lewis telling people to get free charity Wills or use cheap Will writing firms. Your Will is one of the most important documents you will ever make, solicitors don't actually make money preparing them and the risk involved is high especially with estates having a higher value and the rise of second families, re-marriages and family fall outs meaning people are excluding children from Wills. Solicitors are regulated, insured and have spent years training for their job and have to undergo constant training throughout their careers to stay qualified. I've seen shocking homemade Wills and ones prepared by Will writers including one matter where the deceased signed Will and a Codicil on the same day which said contradictory things. I've also spoken to a lady who a Will writing firm tried to charge £3,000 for simple single Will and two Lasting Powers of Attorrney - my current firm would have charged about £1,000.

I don't want sympathy and of course nurses, doctors, teachers and the police and many other professions do a wonderful job but I also went into law to help people and it's actually pretty upsetting that people don't respect the training I have undergone, and paid for, to get where I am and expect me to work for free, in what other job would the public want or expect anyone not to be paid for the work they do?

Ok, y’all she’s announced some org to help the beauty industry rebound post-Covid. Couldn’t watch all of her Live because UGH. But can rich, successful people stop asking normals to donate their hard-earned money to causes. Caroline, you and your YouTube friends could probably find a good amount of money to support these organizations, but instead you ask others to support? No, no thank you. Donate your own money, then we’ll talk.

She’s a fucking horrible person. What on earth was offensive about that poor woman’s post? She was simply saying that she’s happy in her own skin. And then when someone dares to ask her she has a go at them too!

I think she’s got a massive chip on her shoulder for some reason, and has become overly sensitive to comments around Botox, fillers etc. Her immediate reaction seemed to be that the post was directed at her.

Caroline - not everything is about you.

So true - I think it frankly disgusting any journalist/influencer accepts free treatments now (well ever actually but now especially) even if they are offered them. I bet the staff that have to do it (not the owners) fucking hate them no matter how much they smile and are polite.
