Caroline Hirons #11 Is it the X Factor circa 2005 or a skincare group?

Oh wow, loving the fact that Caroline replies to the GP saying “the NHS isn’t free, we pay for it through our taxes”, the GP then goes on to say “we hear “I pay my taxes” every day” and Caroline replies saying “to be clear, I’ve never once in my life uttered the words “I pay my taxes”” - despite having basically said that in her previous reply? Madness.
Yes we pay for NHS through taxes, but that doesn't excuse the piling on of the group demanding that little Johnny gets his wart removed immediately, when sadly that service just isn't available at many GP surgeries now...it's not a finite pot of money unfortunately

I can't find the post - can someone give me a clue on what to search for?

edit: nvm, found it with "wart". nice

Ah bless. I do feel for the child and yes I do think it would have an impact on self esteem. Surely you could go private though. The row with the GP was interesting.

Any chance of a screenshot for those of us that haven't been accepted into the freaks?
Just a couple of classics from the very long argument! It wasn’t helped by someone who lives in Canada and was giving very poor advice on an NHS system she has no experience with 😬

Thank you for the screenshots!

"No one respects the work of GPs more than me and the members of this group" What a joker she is

Caroline:

Also Caroline:
I like how she assumes we all have access to private dermatologist!...not everyone lives in a city London where such services are available. I live in a rural part of the country and there are no private dermatologists within 90miles! ...waiting list for NHS dermatologist is well over a year, and then only likely to see you if it's debilitating/life threatening not a wart/verucca.
The one time I did go to a private dermatologist about a 'rash' on my leg, they got the diagnosis totally wrong ( didn't even do a biopsy) and I ended up with 2 deep , 4inch ulcers on my legs and after a lot of pleading with GP for NHS referral to dermatology I was finally diagnosed by rheumatologist ( NHS) with chronic life changing autoimmune disease requiring chemotherapy and steroids
Im an experienced HCP ( of 33 years standing) and understand the pressure the services are under , but my leg was in an awful state by time I was diagnosed alt I'd had warning signs of an autoimmune illness for 18 months before I was finally diagnosed

I think I’m a bit sensitive to the GP and clinician bashing threads as a fellow HCP, but there do seem to be a lot of them on the freaks. I remember recently someone having a go at a pharmacist, believing that since they’d read the bible they know better than someone who has done years of general training and then specialisms.

Yes, everyone makes mistakes sometimes, but they are much better addressed with reasoned discussion and evidence where applicable, rather than ranting. Luckily many of these dressings down never happened, or were exaggerated, but even if a tiny proportion are real then it’s still too much.

I honestly believe Caroline has a chip on her shoulder. And the freaks emulate her in this regard, e.g the pharmacist thread you mentioned @AlphaBetaDeux Imagine going into a pharmacy and ranting on about how his advice was wrong and Caroline Hirons says xyz. The cult of Hirons has created monsters like that but I guess that's the power of the internet. People thinking because they read xyz online that they know better than the actual medical professional

I can assure you that 99% of HCP will have never heard of Caroline! Despite what she , or her flying monkeys may think!

She once claimed this. I think it can be added to the file of things that never happened

As readership grew, Caroline – whose most recent company profits were in the region of £180,000, and who now has sons Ben and Daniel working for her – began being recognised more and more in public. Once, her GP started asking for skincare tips while giving Caroline a cervical smear.

‘I was lying there, literally with the speculum still inside me, and she said, “While I have you there, can I ask your advice on this?”’ Caroline recalls. ‘I had no idea she even read my blog, but I said, “Well, you literally do have me captive, doc, so ask away.”’

Don't Nurses do smears? ....

Yeah, nurses do smears usually. But as that situation was most likely a situation that happened only in the realms of Caroline's mind it hardly matters.

Either way it sounds like a tall tale. Sali Hughes claims to have had a gynaecologist ask for skincare when she had her finger up her 'fronty' (her words, not mine)

Put a sock in it, Caroline. That did not happen. Smears are usually carried out pretty quickly (thank god), the GP wouldn't be faffing about asking about skincare. Maybe they mentioned it at the end of the appointment. But that doesn't make for an interesting story I guess.

What is this strange connection between healthcare professionals and Caroline? Sounds like shite to me...
