As far as I’m concerned none of this would have happened had she not been reported for domestic violence.
No, I disagree. That's putting the blame for her death on a victim (proven or otherwise). That's like saying no victim should never report as their assailant may commit suicide (a large percentage threaten this in wake of regret of their actions).

Her death is heartbreaking, truly awful. But despite so many calling her a 'girl', she was a 40 year old woman. Caroline made decisions, many decisions many times. No one else can be blamed for her decisions. Reading what I have about the friend leaving her to have a quick trip out of the house, she was determined in her last decision. 😢

the assault she was being done for was her self harming over him cheating and she got upset that he’d walked in on her doing that and threw a lamp at him. So many people have done nothing but give the poor girl shit since. She didn’t deserve any of it.

So so sad.
That's called gaslighting and itself a form of abuse

The only people I feel sorry for are her family and friends left behind. Having lost a child of my own unexpectedly, I can categorically tell you that you never get over that. The pain you have to carry for the rest of your life.

Im not a fan of Caroline’s, or love island etc but celebs and people in the public eye are not above the law. Allegedly, she made a huge mistake and was violent towards her BF and lost her job as a consequence of her actions. Which, is exactly how it should’ve been handled, there’s no way ITV could’ve ignored her behaviour and allowed to continue in her job. Those blaming ITV for her suicide, need to give their heads a wobble, itv were also not obliged to support her in any way after her sacking and shit behaviour.
if you were sacked from your job, would you expect your employer to support you?! No!!

The only other point I will make here is to point out the massive hypocrisy on social media in light of her suicide, lots of celebs and people ‘shocked’ and ‘saddened’ and posting about how she will be missed. Where were all these people ‘supporting’ her during her troubled last few months?! It’s been well documented her mental health was suffering. So why were they not supporting her then!

I'm torn and struggling . It's shocking she's killed herself but why are people saying she's amazing, inspiring etc? The media say she physically assaulted her partner, but people say he had an affair which made her self harm which made her physically react to him finding her self harming. This is triggering for so many people. I don't know what to believe but what I do know is a person is dead, their family is in shock please please if you're struggling for whatever reason, reach out for help. I'm here, we're all here, charity's, organisation's... Some one in the real world or online is ready to hear you speak, please reach out. Suicide is not a solution in most situations xxx

I stopped following the reports about her case after the initial stories, and I’m still catching up on what others are saying so excuse me if I don’t have the facts right,

I know CPS were pushing forward with the case despite the boyfriend saying he wanted to drop charges and making excuses for what happened.

personally, and I feel bad saying this because she’s now dead, from the little I knew about it, I thought it was a positive thing that they were pushing forward with it at the time, the public could see domestic abuse is not ok, especially if the victim asks to drop the case, they could be forced to do that by the partner.
It’s a tricky one because they could have used this case as a example to others, no matter who you are this isn’t ok, but it’s been at the cost of her life.
It reminds me a bit of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard.
Should we now stop talking about that case?

but does it now mean the media shouldn’t report on cases like this, shouldn’t feature anyone with MH difficulties who get in hot water.
Shouldn’t prosecute anyone who’s done wrong because of their history.
When the next celebrity fucks up, should nobody dare have an opinion incase it ends in tragedy.

Im only talking about the initial reports and the fact the case wasn’t dropped.
Not the trolling of her social media’s or the gutter tabloids reporting on her every move and relentlessly following her moves.

Now THAT is what I call a tribute. I can't be doing with BS soppy heaven and angels stuff. They were clearly great buddies through great times together. Perfect heartfelt tribute to her.
One of few that seems genuine.

Jonathan Ross also shared a tweet which seems genuine.

RIP Caroline Flack, you didn't deserve it.

Always thought she seemed a little... unhinged... but clearly needed help. Who was helping her? Awful. I'm sure it was with reason (haven't read details) but it seemed harsh to not allow any contact between her and her boyfriend when clearly she was already in a very low place and needed him.
There's probably been a "straw that broke the camel's back" moment. I suppose we'll find out. But given the distressed phone call the boyf made (that prompted the assault charge), then him changing his tune afterwards, it's all very odd - very common in DV cases for that to happen, and for both parties to be instructed to be apart (who knows if they really were).

But ITV has a duty of care to protect all of its employees, and it should be the same treatment for everyone - especially with some Love Island contestants already suffering emotional distress and taking their own lives in recent years. It's a real shame.

I just can’t help but feel so disturbed by the news.
To think that in her final moments she believed the world hated her, which is what it seemed. Tabloids destroyed her, we all condemned her, she lost her job and probably a lot of friends and was likely set on going to prison.

Yes it was because of her own actions....and no she shouldn’t of got away with it.
But she must have thought she deserved to die. There was no coming back from this.
And to be honest, it would of been very hard for her to come back! But that’s an awful thought.
I won’t sit here and say she was this amazing, inspirational role model because i really didn’t rate her at all. But it’s awfully tragic that she felt no other option than to erase herself from existence.

I really, really hope her ex has people close to him.
people trolled Sophie from love islands ex and he went and killed himself not long after. Hopefully history doesn’t repeat itself.
You’ve worded it so well, she was in such a shit situation (her own doing) but it was just shit wasn’t it. I hope my last post didn’t come across as saying she deserved to die!! I don’t think she did, just saying that people were entitled to comment on her behaviour and it wasn’t ‘trolls’ or ‘the media’ who led to her suicide.

Just a really sad situation. Really sad, really shitty. No ones fault, just a series of bad life decisions really.

The same people who are slating "trolls" and the media, are the same ones going to Lewis and Andrew, saying horrible things to them.

Why is it that abuse and bullying are okay if it is women doing it to men?

Why are we being told to #bekind when all of this started because she didnt think about her consequences before she acted?

I do think the loss of life is sad. It's pretty clear Caroline was screwed up. It's even sadder that she apparently has all this support, but none of it there when it mattered.

Yes she was vulnerable, but does that mean she should get off with a slap on the wrist for what is actually a very serious charge? No. If it was a male, women would be playing the feminist card begging for justice.

One in six men will be a victim of domestic abuse. Not that much different to the one in four women. Treat it the same. Abuse is abuse.

Folk don't reach out often to those with physical illness so not a fucking chance they will do it to someone suffering a mental illness. The human race is full of selfish arseholes.

After reading all the tweets and Instagram posts It’s so sad that someone can have so many “friends” yet be so alone !
I’m also wondering how many hours it will be before the #bekind is replaced with #gifted or swipe up ?
It's all very performative. I'm not saying I'm a perfect or even a very good person but when I know I can help someone with something it's always done privately between me and that person and I never put anything on social media about it. I do what I can for those I care about.

What I see from "friends" is a lot of posturing on social media. Share the "be kind" memes and say "my inbox is always open". That places all the pressure on the person in question to seek help - that's if they have enough insight to know they need help, or are not so troubled that they think they're not worthy of help. Real help would be for those closest to Caroline to actually be there physically with her to support her. It sounds like someone was as they were staying with her and she took the opportunity while they went to the shops.

So, in short, those online messages of support do nothing other than ease the egos of the people posting them.

I've been thinking a lot recently about deleting social media as I think we'll look back on this era with horror. That way I can devote my time to those few friends I can truly be around for and let the bigger aspects of the so-called "community" go.

This is utterly devastating. She was obviously very troubled but imagine having the press on your back constantly as well as dealing with everything going on. I always thought she’d come back from this. So sad for her family

I don't think you can blame CPS for doing their job. There would be far more outrage if they stopped it and it happened again but worse.

We go on holiday for 5 weeks a year, all at different times, the longest being two weeks together and I never take my phone. I've had people we've met on holiday offer to lend me theirs while I'm sat by the pool or in the pub etc and they seem horrified that I don't have it, "because your whole life is on there, how do you cope"

On a day to day basis, I can take or leave it. I can't have my phone on me during the day because of work and this seems to cause others mass anxiety when I don't reply to a text straightaway. Sometimes my battery goes flat and I don't realise.

Social media is 100 % harming society as we know it and gives people a massive sense of ego inflating and entitlement and usually with. It very good outcomes.

I sound like my mother now but I long for the days again where we had no Internet, life seemed less stressful. Ironic considering all this tech is meant to make life easier
I deleted myself from Facebook over a year ago and so many people were horrified, thinking I’d had some great drama. Truth was, I mindlessly scrolled it for hours and got disproportionately annoyed by petty things that people posted. I haven’t missed it one bit. Same with Twitter, I’ll look for something deliberately otherwise I just leave it unopened.

Im a massive instagram and YouTube fiend tho, but have recently tried to wean down to accounts that are about my hobbies and interests than “lifestyle” stuff.

You have more time without social media and definitely more content with yourself. It’s incredibly toxic. We need to stop living vicariously.

I’m shocked that people are blaming the CPS. Obviously it’s very sad but you can’t stop the CPS from pursuing DV cases because those being prosecuted might be suicidal?
Blaming the CPS is so harmful for DV victims who already struggle to come forward or even get a conviction when they do come forward.

I was speaking with my fiance about this. A real double-standard for sure. If a man carried out abuse like she apparently did they would not get this same reaction. I think it is tragic that she felt the only option was to kill herself but some people seem to have forgotten what she was accused of.

I feel so sad for her family, boyfriend. And also her Frenchie dog who must have been so scared being in the flat while Caroline was dead :(
But haven’t we all been at some point in a ‘situation’ with our partners?! I know I have, I’ve thrown things out of sheer temper but luckily they’ve always missed! I’m going back 20yrs ago before we were married & had a family .. but we had drunken fueled nights & we just kinda got over them! Don’t get me wrong i don’t condone any kind of physical abuse, but I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t got into a situation with my partner.. I feel we’re all too quick to judge
