In the eyes of most people here it seems, yes!

I don’t know the details of what happened but hearing people talk about “domestic abuse” “brutally beaten” etc it makes her sound like she was kicking the shit of the guy all the time as part of her daily routine.

If it’s true her fella had an affair, she self harmed then threw a lamp at him then some of the comments on here are very sad (and quite scary) if you ask me.

There’s a big difference between calculated brutal attacks & domestic abuse over throwing something at someone as a one off when she was severely depressed and needed mental help.

Abuse (by its very definition) is about being in control and abusing your position/power over someone whether that be mentally, physically or both. She was clearly not in control of even her own self let alone someone else!
Yeah and Brock Turner isnt a rapist because he only raped a girl once and was drunk and totally didnt deserve any punishment or backlash 🙄 Caroline hurt Lewis intentionally - theres no way to excuse that whatever way you try and phrase it

This is possibly an unpopular opinion, and possibly one some won’t agree with...

It is tragic and sad that Caroline felt she had no other option but to end her life, but she isn’t the only one and won’t be the last. Calling it manslaughter from the media is wrong, it isn’t. People kill them selves every day over mental health issues, stalking, relationship issues, money worries etc but shall we make a petition to stop debt collectors hounding people to get their money back, if so then why not the case that we ban people borrowing the money in the first place?

“Normal” people are bullied every day and there is little action that can be taken for that. Celebrities willingly put themselves in the public eye, I’m not saying they deserve to be bullied, no way am I, but more needs to be done for everyone, not just people in the public eye.

The insta sham #bekind movement is sickening me. This isn’t about mean comments online. I highly doubt Caroline gave a shit what Denise from Southend thought about her. The girl was mentally ill, so much so that in the end she couldn’t cope anymore. The people hijacking her death to moan about themselves being trolled is just so narcissistic.

Instagram is pissing me off tonight. Everyone saying ‘be kind’ ‘you don’t know what goes on behind closed doors’ ‘don’t comment on people online’ ‘words have consequences’... FUCK OFF! She wasnt ‘trolled’ for not declaring ads or because people called her fat or ugly or a bad mum or said she dressed badly.

She was arrested and charged with violently abusing her partner. People called her out on social media; they called her out on her appalling behaviour because of something she actually DID. It wasn’t just people’s opinions. So yes, I’m sure she had a shitty few weeks since it happened and seeing people talking about it must have been devastating and hard to read. But she didn’t kill herself because people were ‘mean’ to her on social media 🙄
Just to be clear, she hasn't been convicted of anything. Yes, she was charged but she hadn't been tried or found guilty. This is NOT to say she didn't commit the crime...but I'm uncomfortable with saying it's something she "actually did". Many, many, many people are found innocent once tried by a jury.

God I can't stop thinking about that detail that's come out about her friend who was staying with her to look after her, just "popped to the shops", and that's when Caroline killed herself. And the friend couldn't get back into the flat so called Caroline's dad to get help.
I just cannot begin to imagine how that friend is feeling right now too. I would be in bits absolutely blaming myself, I know it's not the case obviously it's not their fault at all!! but how could you deal with that, knowing you left her alone for a minute and she did that! I'm so so heartbroken for Caroline, and her family and friends. It's so much to deal with 💔

Honestly some of these comments are so upsetting. Have you ever been in that situation? In that place where you genuinely feel like you have no other option? Crying, numb, frightened, yet pumping with something. It’s a very dark place to be. I don’t mean a down day, I mean soul destroying, heart wrenching pain. Physically and mentally exhausted. All you can think of doing is wanting to die.
I’ve been there. I’ve been to the fucking pits but I was found. My sister found me in time. If she hadn’t of come round that night to unexpectedly check on me, I wouldn’t be here. It is hell. Coming back from that is hell when you were convinced you were finally gonna end it all. That doesn’t make me a coward for it being a suicide attempt, not an actual suicide.
it hurts like hell. I’ve fought my mind so many times without people knowing. I’ve put on that front and convinced everyone I was ok. You’ve no idea of the pain and isolation you feel. Alone and better for everyone else if you’re not here anymore.
People are shocked. People are well within their right to pay their respects. You’ve no idea the reasons behind the post, the relationships they had, the memories shared. I’ve had someone to close to me pass away and sometimes I’ve wanted the reassurance and kind words from people around me. People live their lives on social media. Why can’t they show this too? This is real life, this shit still fucking happens and I think so much awareness should be raised about it. There is still so much stigma around it and people have no idea how complex it actually is.
People need to know that support is there, even if it is just to talk. Sometimes that one message can make a whole lot of difference.

Doesn't anyone think it's weird that they haven't mentioned how she ended her life? Is anyone getting weird sex vibes that went wrong and this is a cover up saying suicide without saying how she took her life stalling for time to think of how best to come up with a story?
No, not at all.

The method is only generally revealed at the inquest.

I actually applaud her family for confirming immediately that she took her own life to stop that speculation.

Joe Swash.....attention seeking. All these bloody celebs dining out on her misery, makes me sick. Suicide isn’t fucking brave, battling cancer is brave! Battling sepsis is brave. My opinion.
Wow what a disgusting comment, Joe worked with Caroline on I’m a celeb so I can understand he’s upset. I’d hate to have you as a mother and be met with an eye roll when I’m sad about my friends death

This!!! Why can’t the argument be “don’t use instagram” if you’re in the spotlight. The easiest way to avoid “trolls” and criticism is to ditch your phone. But oh wait, none of these influencers will do that because it’s their cash cow. It’s a depressing cycle of shit that won’t end because they need social media platforms to make money. I saw on Saturday Davina McCall posted that she “would be quiet on social media” for a few hours. A few hours?! That’s it?? She’s a middle aged woman with kids and that’s all she could manage. Until we start to see established names ditching social media OR just refusing to engage with criticism, we will get nowhere.

We go on holiday for 5 weeks a year, all at different times, the longest being two weeks together and I never take my phone. I've had people we've met on holiday offer to lend me theirs while I'm sat by the pool or in the pub etc and they seem horrified that I don't have it, "because your whole life is on there, how do you cope"

On a day to day basis, I can take or leave it. I can't have my phone on me during the day because of work and this seems to cause others mass anxiety when I don't reply to a text straightaway. Sometimes my battery goes flat and I don't realise.

Social media is 100 % harming society as we know it and gives people a massive sense of ego inflating and entitlement and usually with. It very good outcomes.

I sound like my mother now but I long for the days again where we had no Internet, life seemed less stressful. Ironic considering all this tech is meant to make life easier

Legal perspective from the secret barrister on twitter:

A number of people have asked questions about the tragic case of Caroline Flack.

I have no particular insight into her case or her personal circumstances. But some general observations are set out below for assistance.

Firstly, the criticism of the Crown Prosecution Service.

Allegations of domestic violence raise a number of complexities. Often a complainant will withdraw support for a prosecution. But, for obvious reasons, that can’t always be determinative.

Cases cannot be dropped simply because a complainant doesn’t want their partner prosecuted. Such a system would reward those who successfully coerce victims to withdraw. Sometimes cases must be pursued without the consent of the alleged victim.
But not always.

Even if there is enough evidence to prosecute (and there are ways to prosecute without a willing witness of complaint), the public interest test must be applied.

The test is here. https://www.cps.gov.uk/publication/code-crown-prosecutors

Nobody, except those involved in a criminal case, knows enough details to comment on whether the CPS was right or wrong to pursue a prosecution.

But certain difficult truths are worthy of reflection. Such as the lack of systemic oversight for the ongoing welfare of the accused.

As a prosecution and defence barrister, I see frequently how, save in cases where an accused has severe mental health problems that impact upon the legalities of the trial process, there is little consideration for the impact of proceedings upon a defendant’s welfare.

Rarely is it acknowledged how the strain of the criminal process - whether the allegation is true or not - can affect a person. Can break a person. And this lack of care pervades not only the system, but our society.

Which brings us to how, as a society, we treat those accused.

How we still, in the 21st century, put the accused in the media stocks, assume their guilt or moral fault, reduce and minimise human complexities, dehumanise and commodify the vulnerable, and consume their personal tragedies for our own transient edification.

As fingers are frantically pointed in every direction, and articles are deleted and history is hastily rewritten, maybe our priority should instead be to look at how we treat the people - the living, breathing, bleeding human beings - at the centre of our criminal justice system.

All these z listers using someone's passing for their own agenda, with the exception of a few Laura Whitmore etc.

Had she faced a court case, it was more than likely, certain negative things would have come out into public domain.. Release of 999 call, bodycam footage, previous alleged abuse of partners etc etc plus the loss of a TV career

Those z listers would have fled faster than rats leaving a sinking ship.

I feel sorry for Lewis Burton. Poor man could have lost his own life by getting hit over the head, whilst sleeping, with a lamp and now will be left, like all victims of domestic violence, with a sense of guilt. Poor, poor man.

She has been on my mind all evening for many reasons.
What makes me mad is seeing those who couldn't give a fuck about anyone with mental health issues in the past, are now asking everyone to be kind and that they're there if anyone needs a chat. Wish they would fuck off instead of touting for likes.

Someone said in the previous thread that there was quite detailed rumour going around in December on the true story of her arrest, what do they mean?
I think it was referencing the rumour where he allegedly found her self harming due to text messages on his phone and he tried to call an ambulance and that’s why she hit him with the lamp. I could be wrong but that is one I remember reading on here.

Maybe you need to rethink this comment as it's very triggering and perpetuates a stigma around suicide/mental health
It's not cowardly or brave, tying actions to psychological states doesn't make sense, not everyone has the same mindset when doing an action

I threw a battery at my ex once and the tv remote cos he pissed me off 🤷‍♀️ does that make me an abuser?!

No-one knows for sure exactly what happened that night, other than the 2 of them, and I doubt we ever will know what happened. Innocent till proven guilty and all that.

Looks like f4jofficial had alot to do with it. Sickening. Has anyone else signed stephanie davis petition?
The thing with Stephanie and like is they're happy to court the media when things are going well, tipping them off for staged pics, using social media for paid advertisements, being gifted expensive items/nights out/holidays etc. But as soon as things go wrong they want it all to stop. They dont want the attention. They want to be left alone to deal with whatever it is they're going through, then when it's all blown over they're straight back on it again.

I don't know what the answer is but I just hate the hypocrisy of celebrities

So many people are sharing their condolences or even worse using the death of Caroline to talk about themselves, but none of them were supporting her publicly when she was going thought a difficult time apart from dawn o'porter. Who hasn't posted yet. It speaks volumes.

Social media is full of vultures ready to use a death, any death for their own gain.
this sums up my feelings. Lots of platitudes and love for someone they don’t know and they’ve never even supported before.
i can’t help but think some of the bigger social media account use it for extra clicks and likes to their channels as well.
