This 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 There’s a lot of people on here acting holier than thou. Whilst I would NEVER EVER condone domestic violence, you have to tread carefully because everyone has done something stupid at some point, some more serious than most and they’ve faced the consequences of their actions. I have a friend of a friend (not the best source I know) who, like your friend, was party to what went on that evening and from what they say, alcohol played a huge part in that evening. In my opinion, clearly their relationship wasn’t healthy, they both suffer/suffered with mental health issues and I’ve seen it first hand with a friend that when you add alcohol to the mix - especially when you’re also on medication, it will never end well.
That’s exactly it 💯. I, too am not condoning DV in any way, shape or form. No way! DV isn’t talked about enough and I feel that it should be.However, I was just trying to explain that I can see where it stemmed from and her past erratic behaviour. I’m not making excuses for her or for anyone, I was just trying to put a bit of perspective on it all and to basically just convey my sadness for the whole thing and how important it is to always seek help for everyone involved.

Mental health issues and drug taking is too blame. How people can blame the CPS and media is beyond me. Fir all we know it could’ve even been an accidental overdose.
What I find worrying is that her family knew she was in a fragile state and didn’t do anything. I think this is the problem when people become your enablers instead of getting you help
The first post on this thread says to go easy on Caroline’s family. I suggest you go have a read and then read it again.

What I want to ask is, are these people she’s been in relationships with been in abuse relationships before? Because i find it hard to believe that she’s just got into relationships with abusive men. Which makes me think she must have had a dark side to her. There must also be a reason her relationships never lasted. I think, again this is my opinion, she loved hard and fast and got swept up in the romance and then struggled with her emotions when she got angry or felt vulnerable. I think she was very insecure. Again just my opinion.
In my opinion some of those who are vulnerable get caught up in the same relationships time and time again because that’s all they have ever known and in a weird way, it acts like a comfort blanket. Control also plays a big part. You see it happen all the time especially when you see someone that’s finished a relationship with someone for being too nice, it’s like they can’t handle normality which, for a lot of people in the public eye, life is far from the norm

People who are saying that her family didn’t do anything should be ashamed of themselves. How do they bloody know that they didn’t?!

So very sad that someone with their whole life ahead of them and so much to live for felt their was no other option other to end their life. How devastating for all her family and friends, I can’t even begin to imagine what her parents are going through. No one should outlive their children.

It's very sad that from as far as I know Dawn O'Porter was the only one to publicly support her during her tough time. I've always liked Dawn and their friendship does appear so genuine.

Friends speaking out on social media to support her during those tough few months must have meant so much. Yet only one did. And now every celebrity and their sister are speaking out now that its too late.
Well said 👏🏻

We do know what happened -we saw the pics and heard the call.
Where is the call available please?

I’d say the pictures are consistent with the injury Caroline sustained, rather than his but I’ve seen it reported that one person was taken to hospital; some say it was him and some say it was her, so I‘m not sure we can draw too many conclusions from a photo and media reports.

I’ve gone back and read the stories again, keeping in mind the alternative theory raised on this thread, and it seems plausible based on what’s been published. I really think it’s naive of any of us to say ‘we do know what happened’, like you just did. None of us know, and right now I don’t think it should matter to any of us what happened that night anyway.

All her celebrity friends banging on about how amazing she was and how they're going to miss her....... Why the duck didn't you check in on her, drop her a text to say hi or a call to say 'are you OK? Do you need to talk about it?' or drop in on her and have a coffee or something!? If you were that much of a friend you would have made sure she was OK every step of the way through this trial she was heading into.
I’ve seen a few manage to mention in their condolences that they sent her “a message” of support when all this kicked off with Lewis. Almost like they feel like they have to get this in there to make themselves look better To us. Make it look like they didn’t abandon her. Sounds like she ignored and they didn’t pursue any further orrrr it’s total bull. Will have to take their word for it now I suppose!

Years ago I was attacked by my then boyfriend in the street. We were on our way home from a night out, early morning.
3 different people phoned the police and the cars screeched up like something from a movie.
I used to self harm and boyfriend told the police this and when I gave my statement they made me show them my arms. They treated me like I was an absolute nutter and my boyfriend hadn't done anything wrong.
They really treated me like I was rum. I withdrew my statement the next day.
I'm not quite sure why I'm posting this but I feel really uneasy as to why the CPS chose to press charges.
She was obviously very troubled and really needed professional help rather than a prosecution that her 'victim' didn't want.
I think they were trying to make an example of her, but sometimes things aren't always black and white.
Whatever your opinion of her I think this is absolutely tragic and my heart goes out to her family and friends. She must of been in a terrible place to do this.
I'm so sorry to hear what happened to you, how cruel.

My story is in contrast with yours.
My abusive ex found out I was trying to move on so sent me messages of him cutting his legs and telling me he was going to hang himself if I ever left him. That is emotional and psychological abuse.

There is so much more to what happened between Caroline and Lewis and I don't think we'll ever know. I'll just add to this anytime the police got involved I would drop charges and stay quiet because I was absolutely brainwashed and thought I loved my abusive partner and didn't want to hurt him. When behind the scenes he had been doing the most unimaginable things to me.

Looks like justice4fathers had alot to do with it. Sickening. Has anyone else signed stephanie davis petition?
No one should bother wasting their time signing a petition from Stefanie davis. She's calling for the media to be banned. She courts fame and is a walking disaster.
If she wants to live somewhere without a free and fair press I'll donate for her to move to north Korea.
The internet is full of basic people being critical of the crown prosecution service and things they have no clue about. Leave it to the professionals. Thank god the average itv2 viewer doesn't run the country.

But the press over here is far from fair. I think the petition is a good thing fair enough have a moan about someone on here but constant bullying and writing lies constantly is wrong and unfair especially when someone suffers with mental health. She done wrong but the speculation and lies were too much. 20 stories printed in last 24 hours regarding katie price on the sun these people are humans with rights and feelings.

This is possibly an unpopular opinion, and possibly one some won’t agree with...

It is tragic and sad that Caroline felt she had no other option but to end her life, but she isn’t the only one and won’t be the last. Calling it manslaughter from the media is wrong, it isn’t. People kill them selves every day over mental health issues, stalking, relationship issues, money worries etc but shall we make a petition to stop debt collectors hounding people to get their money back, if so then why not the case that we ban people borrowing the money in the first place?

“Normal” people are bullied every day and there is little action that can be taken for that. Celebrities willingly put themselves in the public eye, I’m not saying they deserve to be bullied, no way am I, but more needs to be done for everyone, not just people in the public eye.

The thing with Stephanie and like is they're happy to court the media when things are going well, tipping them off for staged pics, using social media for paid advertisements, being gifted expensive items/nights out/holidays etc. But as soon as things go wrong they want it all to stop. They dont want the attention. They want to be left alone to deal with whatever it is they're going through, then when it's all blown over they're straight back on it again.

I don't know what the answer is but I just hate the hypocrisy of celebrities

Absolutely this. Without going into specifics as I value my anonymity, my career was in the field of prosecution and I specialised in domestic violence. It’s frustrating to read such misinformation, especially when it’s spouted by “professionals”.
I don’t think the CPS are above m

That’s really telling of their character, they have to be sure to mention that they contacted her because they want to pre-empt being accused of doing nothing.

I feel very sad for her, I wish she’d have taken the opportunity to step back from the shallow entertainment business & focused on spending time with her family.

She reminds me of my 20 year old self, far too invested in romantic relationships & terribly insecure. It seems like this may have caused her to act in ways that she should have avoided.

I stopped following the reports about her case after the initial stories, and I’m still catching up on what others are saying so excuse me if I don’t have the facts right,

I know CPS were pushing forward with the case despite the boyfriend saying he wanted to drop charges and making excuses for what happened.

personally, and I feel bad saying this because she’s now dead, from the little I knew about it, I thought it was a positive thing that they were pushing forward with it at the time, the public could see domestic abuse is not ok, especially if the victim asks to drop the case, they could be forced to do that by the partner.
It’s a tricky one because they could have used this case as a example to others, no matter who you are this isn’t ok, but it’s been at the cost of her life.
It reminds me a bit of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard.
Should we now stop talking about that case?

but does it now mean the media shouldn’t report on cases like this, shouldn’t feature anyone with MH difficulties who get in hot water.
Shouldn’t prosecute anyone who’s done wrong because of their history.
When the next celebrity ducks up, should nobody dare have an opinion incase it ends in tragedy.

Im only talking about the initial reports and the fact the case wasn’t dropped.
Not the trolling of her social media’s or the gutter tabloids reporting on her every move and relentlessly following her moves.

Could not agree more
I get really angry when people reel out the old "double standard, women get a free pass to abuse" balls. Its simply not true. The world is much harder on women. Public opinion is much harsher. Men are allowed to redeem themselves, women are vilified and demonized.
I sound dramatic cos I'm tired after a night shift and I'm not trying to derail this Caroline Flack thread onto a wider feminist argument. What I am saying is that men and women are equally kind, horrible, vicious, gentle as we all human. The difference lies in how our characters are viewed. Gazza will always be a lovable rogue yet he broke his wife's arm!

Apols for lack of coherence but I hope I'm making my point!
Thank you, I was getting sick of the ignorant comments about 'if it was a man, he wouldn't be getting this sympathy'. As you rightly point out, women are judged by much higher standards than men, society is much more forgiving of their bad behaviour especially when they are famous ' boys will be boys' etc.

You rightly point out the Paul Gascoigne is treated like a saint by some football
supporters despite beating his wife on a regular basis, more recently Kobe Bryant has been canonised into sainthood despite raping a 19 year old girl and anyone who dares to mention it has been sent death threats. There are loads more examples of men who have a history of much worse domestic violence like Chris Brown, Gary Oldman, Michael Fassbender, Sean Bean, Tommy Lee, Bobby Brown, Dennis Waterman, Eminem, Sean Penn, Josh Brolin, Sean Connery, Bill Murray etc who have all gone onto have successfully careers while their abusive backgrounds are ignored.

It's the same situation with men getting away with sexual offences and even grape/paedophilia, like Polansksi, Woody Allen, James Franco, Casey Affleck etc.
Meanwhile Hollywood exiles Winona Ryder for years for the heinous crime of shoplifting.

Of course the biggest example of how the bar is set much higher for women is that Trump became US President after being a reality TV star who was caught bragging about sexually assaulting women and having 20 odd women come forward with sexual assault allegations against him.
But apparently Hillary Clinton wasn't good enough because of her errr...emails.

So yeah, can we forget this ridiculous 'if it was a man' narrative, I suspect some of people pushing it have a misogynist agenda and don't give a damn about male abusers but just go online to attack women.

I am particularly sickened by the persistent poster on here who seems to be wageing a one man hate (or woman) campaign against Caroline and even compared what she has alleged to have done with Brock Turner who was convicted of drugging a college girl and brutally raping and sodomising her unconscious body. I couldn't believe what I was reading.

Domestic violence is wrong regardless of gender but Caroline's case would never have been brought to court before the law was changed last year because her bf dropped the charges. The law was quite rightly changed because women have been intimidated and threatened by their partners into dropping charges who then go onto repeat the cycle of violence and even murder their partners (2 women are murdered every week in the UK by their male partner, thousands of women round the world murdered every day) but this doesn't seem to be the case here. From what I understand there was no pattern of abuse but a one off situation and Caroline wasn't an ongoing threat to her boyfriend. Still not excusable but at the same time not worthy of a criminal prosecution considering how many more violent cases I have heard that never come to court.

Certain unsympathetic and judgemental posters have a very black and white view of the world where everyone who is accused of DV is an evil psychopath who needs locking up, completely ignoring the fact that CF has very obvious mental health issues, suffered depression (she was on anti Depressants), history of self harming, which were obviously so severe that she felt no option but to take her own life.

It all suggests that she was much more of a danger to herself than other people What she clearly needed was help, not to be put through the horrendous stress of a trial which the media vultures would have covered with glee.

I feel bad for her friends and family. Yes, she had her issues and I assume was more than likely going to go to prison, but I always feel bad about people feeling suicide is the only out. (This isn't me condoning her abuse at all though)

I can't deal with Dan Wootton suddenly saying how lovely she is on Twitter and The S*n deleting half their articles about her.

I hope her boyfriend especially doesn't blame himself for this. I know he dropped the charges (I don't know if that was his own decision or not, or if he felt he had to...) and he still seemed to love her a lot, so I really hope he has a good support network at this time.
