I hope this doesn’t divide opinion too much, but the influencer bandwagon constantly jumping tragedy of loss of life like this feels a bit too much like glorifying suicide to me. There is too much ‘#bekind’ and fawning over someone who is no longer here, personally (although I am sure some will disagree), lauding someone after their choice to take their life, trying to change the law instead of trying to change culture, can give people the impression that suicide is in some way something to aspire to, in that you live on through notoriety.
Not enough focus is being given to getting help, and the impact on those left behind. Suicide is irreversible. I really feel like the severity of this is being watered down. If anyone saw Ruth on This Morning today that can demonstrate some of the real pain of suicide, not just an easy insta re-post.
Talking about it to seek help and get well I fully support, just this hi-jacking of such a serious act upsets me enormously.
Sorry for the rant.

Always thought she seemed a little... unhinged... but clearly needed help. Who was helping her? Awful. I'm sure it was with reason (haven't read details) but it seemed harsh to not allow any contact between her and her boyfriend when clearly she was already in a very low place and needed him.

I think she was off her rocker on coke when she attacked him. She was well known to indulge in substances and frankly I think 20 years of “partying” around London catches up. No one I know who regularly uses recreational drugs is balanced.

I’ve seen tweets saying itv failed her but protected ant after his drink driving scandal. Why when someone dies do people have to drag someone else down with them

Because ITV certainly seems to be protecting its male stars much more than its female. Ant - drink problem, could have caused a much more serious accident than he did, went to court. What did ITV do? Wrap him in cotton wool.
Philip Schofield - it was starting to come out that he had groomed a young runner on TM in 2011 and the runner in question was about to sell his story. What did ITV do? Advised PS to out himself so people felt sorry for him and would discredit any stories that were about to come out.
Caroline Flack ALLEGEDLY (and that’s the important word here) clouts her boyfriend around the head with a lamp but said boyfriend said it’s untrue and didn’t want to press charges yet it was still going to be dragged through the courts. What did ITV do? Writes a generic “we support Caroline” statement with an undertone of “we’re done with her” and left her out to dry. I have a friend who works in the media and the stuff you hear is literally unreal but, as long as people hang on the media’s every word and believe things they weren’t party to, you will always have a Caroline Flack who feels they can no longer go on

I think this has hit myself and friends particularly hard because we can really identify with how we imagine she was feeling.
I wasnt a fan, in fact I described her on this very forum as "a dreadful basic" or something equally mean.
However I can really imagine how it feels to have been ambitious and high achieving then to lose the plot and find yourself facing the public shame of a criminal record.
I know girls who have the police round their house every other week, they would laugh all the way into court and all the way out and it would be a mere blip in their timeline.
Then there are women who work hard and play hard but would be absolutely mortified and ashamed to find themselves arrested and facing a criminal conviction. It would seem like the end of the world.
It's heartbreaking to put myself in her shoes tbh.

I agree that mental illness especially in children is being used too much but it is definitely a real thing when you get older. So much is expected of us. Get a good job, marry, buy a house, have kids etc one of those things doesn’t happen it can shock you to the core. I can’t have kids and I struggle everyday. Also it might be just me but why do I feel the pressure to stay young and have no wrinkles or fat now I am on my 40’s. I need to stay off social media it paints too much of this perfect picture that doesn’t exist.

This made me so fucking sad. That whole post she did made me sad-imagine confiding in someone (and I’m sure she considered who to confide in carefully,not like she would have just picked the first name in her phone book). Imagine someone coming to you for support and you telling them they are draining? So sad.

from what I can see Dawn O’Porter publicly supported her and I saw paddy mcguinness post a screenshot where he had messaged his support at the end of last hear. I’m sure many others may have done the same but I feel she could have done with the public support of other celebs. All these tributes now when they couldn’t bare to potentially have their careers tarnished by associating with her when the shit hit the fan for her makes me feel ill. From looking at tributes now it would seem she had so many friends but deep down I’d say the amount of good friends she had was very low-maybe she felt that way too.

All these celebs publicly posting about her now. Where was their public support when she was arrested? Holly, Dermot, etc, none of them would put their neck on the line and support her publicly when she would have wanted it.
