I can’t believe how ridiculous this “Caroline’s Law” petition is. There are libel laws, tighten up in those if you must.

Nobody, especially those wielding influence and in the public eye, should be above scrutiny. It’s not all about the glory of celebrity, famous people can be shitty people too.
If Caroline was a man who'd been arrested and charged with domestic abuse, with an upcoming trial, would there would have been the same outpouring of grief? Would the CPS have been slammed for pursuing prosecution? Would there have been criticisms of alleged victim/perpetrator contact restrictions put in place? Would people other than relatives be mourning? Would people be demanding online forums be prevented from criticising the alleged perpetrator of violence? I suspect not. I’ve seen lots of comments that her partner didn’t support prosecution; sorry but him minimising the violence of the evening, and attempting to retract his statements etc etc are very usual behaviours for any victim of domestic abuse. There is police body cam footage of the scene the police arrived to and of comments made by both parties. As well as video evidence of her poor/aggressive conduct at the police station. Such a sorry situation all round, and genuinely sad that she was affected by serious mental health issues. I can’t help but wonder if she thought she’d be saved, given that she took her life when her friend ‘popped to the shops’. If reports are correct.

So many people are sharing their condolences or even worse using the death of Caroline to talk about themselves, but none of them were supporting her publicly when she was going thought a difficult time apart from dawn o'porter. Who hasn't posted yet. It speaks volumes.

Social media is full of vultures ready to use a death, any death for their own gain.
This says it all really. I don’t know much about Caroline but from reading this thread she seemed like a very flawed person, but she didn’t deserve to be hounded by the media like that. She deserved to be judged by the law and served with an appropriate punishment for what she’d done if found guilty - not this awful show trial by the press. And of course she deserved support against this while she was alive. This outpouring isn’t helpful at all (to Caroline at least) now. The social media vultures are too lazy and selfish to reach out to someone who was clearly seriously struggling, but they’ll put up sad posts and preach about mental health when it’s too late

Someone has died as a result of this situation. They’re dead, that’s it, they’re never coming back. Caroline deserves more than faux emotional posts about her to bring in the likes only to be forgotten next week in the latest flood of #spon #ad #gifted posts. I hope something is done about the media’s actions

I don't know about that. When Steph Davis and that Irish guy Jeremy Mc Connell were in a mutually abusive relationship he got ripped to shreds across social media for months on end while Steph got all the sympathy and got her old job back as well. A job she'd been sacked from for ... stuff. It didn't matter that he had witnesses who'd seen and heard him being abused, she had some bruises and he's a big guy so it all fell on him and Steph got a pass for her part in it. He had a fractured jaw and eye damage from being beaten with a bed leg while asleep. Police had to haul Steph off to jail where she spent the night while McConnell went straight to the airport and home to Dublin to have his face sorted out in his local hospital. The pictures of his injuries were horrific. Later she filed charges and he was punished legally. Steph, nothing but more sympathy. The point I'm making is that Steph got a free pass because she's tiny and he's big, but that's not right. Abusers come in all shapes and sizes.
To highlight how wrong that all turned out, Steph is still very troubled and has had to take leave from Hollyoaks to sort herself out yet again, while Jeremy has got clean and is in a stable relationship. He lives with the solicitor lady who handled his case in a stunning home in the country and is a partner in a thriving men's grooming business (I think). So Steph getting all the sympathy didn't help her in battling her demons. McConnell faced his down and beat them.
As for Caroline, what a waste. So sorry for her family dealing with this. :(

YES 👌🏼 I’m sorry but she can absolutely piss off. She’s THE FIRST to do interview and sell her story! How many times has she Been in the papers after coming back from every episode she’d had. The tabloids are ok when it suits her and making her a quick quid. She is another, very troubled girl and something isn’t working out for her either like you say, Jeremy has turned him self around, Ant took the year out and come back a better person. Caroline can’t of thought that much of Steph because she doesn’t follow her on Instagram or anything. She says about jumping on the band wagon...
I think Caroline had some very deep rooted problems and I always felt she had a longing to be loved. Always with young guys who were clearly all idiots and probably only with her to give their own careers a boost.
I can’t imagine how utterly devastated her family are and how much of a desperately sad situation this is but I think a lot of people have a equal part to play in this.

Don't like Amanda Holden but she posted a really great post basically asking why itv abandoned caroline when they knew she had issues, and why others were offered support and compassion.

I can’t imagine how awful the paramedics feel and her friend for popping to the shop. How awful Caroline felt she had to do that while she had the chance when alone. It’s so upsetting to even think about..

My sister is a drug addict and recently took an overdose as a cry for help, she was taken into hospital and put on a ward with a 24 hour nurse by her bedside. After 36 hours they let her go home. She’s admitted to drug taking, social services are threatening to take her children and my sister has now been diagnosed with bipolar but they let her go home. My mum has to watch her and the mental health team come out daily to see her. My sister goes out often to see friends who do drugs and my mum says at 29 how can she physically stop her, she’s convincing my mum she’s not doing drugs anymore and stupidly my mum believes her and doesn’t try to stop her going. Anyone who makes a suicide attempt should be in hospital until they’re helped and in a better place. More money needs to go into mental health treatment within the NHS.

The Andrew Brady photos in the DM today looked set up to me. I don’t know why there would be Australian paps waiting around for him unless they’d been notified of his location, or why he’d be sitting down outside with his head in his hands like that. Could just be me being cynical though.
Photos are by Backgrid. Totally set up in exchange for payment, IMO

I feel incredibly sad for those that knew and loved her and have huge respect for the honesty in the immediate announcement that she took her own life. Her family must be broken hearted. Only those that walk the same path know the crossroads on the journey. May she RIP. ❤

I find it so fucking hypocritical that all these celebs and hangers on are posting now. WHERE WERE YOU eh. I also assume that had she gone to trial and been found guilty they wouldn’t have been publicly sympathetic. Pathetic.

So she was a bully in high school, one ex with and NDA, and the assault on her current boyfriend. Yes she was very much the saint.

There must have been a very good reason why the CPS were still going ahead with her prosecution, maybe there was more on her record than the public knew about?
The woman is still dead. At 40 years old. I find it completely tragic.
That anyone would find themselves in a situation where that was their only option is harrowing. She had faults, made mistakes like we all do. Yes, she was charged with assault but didn't stand trial and as is the law and as we all deserve she was innocent until proven guilty and thank fuck we all have that right.
The only thing she is guilty of is living her life in the public eye. Being constantly judged must be extraordinarily wearing. Facing her most shameful behaviours being played out must have been too much to contemplate.

All I have to say is that if all the celebs saying they are shocked and saddened had been there for her before today then maybe she wouldn’t have died? If they had supported her then maybe her trial would have found her not guilty? Or maybe it would have found her guilty. Either way, they weren’t there when she needed them to be so what’s the point in Instagram and Twitter posts now?
But then how would they get the spotlight on them in the top spot for the "most heartwarming RIP post" celebrity compilation posts the internet will run?

Years ago I was attacked by my then boyfriend in the street. We were on our way home from a night out, early morning.
3 different people phoned the police and the cars screeched up like something from a movie.
I used to self harm and boyfriend told the police this and when I gave my statement they made me show them my arms. They treated me like I was an absolute nutter and my boyfriend hadn't done anything wrong.
They really treated me like I was scum. I withdrew my statement the next day.
I'm not quite sure why I'm posting this but I feel really uneasy as to why the CPS chose to press charges.
She was obviously very troubled and really needed professional help rather than a prosecution that her 'victim' didn't want.
I think they were trying to make an example of her, but sometimes things aren't always black and white.
Whatever your opinion of her I think this is absolutely tragic and my heart goes out to her family and friends. She must of been in a terrible place to do this.
The thing is 1) we don’t know if the self harm angle is true at this stage and 2) she apparently hit her boyfriend in the head with a lamp and drew blood. CPS had every right to charge her.

Ultimately it was her decision. She had wealth, health, she could easily have sought the best help. She had family and friends around her, a support network. She had options but this was what she chose. I don't think the media should be blamed for causing this by reporting that she'd been arrested for assault (which was true, though of course she'd not been convicted, just accused) . If she didn't do it, then I'm sure that would have come out at court. Again, she could afford the best legal representation.
Mental health is at least as important as physical health and it seems clear that she had significant mental health problems.

I haven’t caught up with the whole thread yet but have just heard from a (absolutely devastated) friend that poor Caroline was badly let down by the laws regarding mental health crises in this instance. I don’t want to say what my friends job is, but he is well positioned to know the truth about the inner workings of police work/social services etc and is not a bullshitter, so I have no reason to disbelieve this: She apparently took an overdose the night before she died and was visited by paramedics. The dose was not so toxic that she needed medical attention and she didn’t didn’t reach “threshold” for sectioning and refused to accompany medics to hospital for a psychological assessment - although her friend that was staying with her and parents wanted her sectioned so that she would have no choice but to go to hospital and get help. The next morning she seemed brighter and her friend that was staying over to look after her went out to the shop. They came back 15 minutes later and she had dead-bolted the door and hanged herself. Took them more than an hour once emergency services were called to get inside the flat.

My friend said that as soon as the call came in saying a woman in the area Caroline lived had been found hanged he knew immediately who it was. He also said that the paramedics who couldn’t section her but couldn’t persuade her to come to hospital on Friday night are absolutely flattened with shock and regret- although of course it is not their fault. My friend thinks there’s a strong argument for the threshold to be sectioned to be lowered as a result of this; he said that she was very clearly a danger to herself and needed the assessment of a doctor. To think that someone who has purposefully taken even a small overdose doesn’t count as being ill enough to reach the lower limited necessary to be helped against their own will is terrifying.

Poor, dear girl and her poor family and friends and those poor emergency workers who couldn’t do more for her. I hope that she has now found peace
God this rings so true to me, it actually sent a shiver down my spine.

I had a suicide attempt almost two years ago and exactly the same thing happened - wasn’t a toxic dose, a crisis team visited me the same night and that was it.

I don’t blame the MH staff at all - but it really isn’t good enough. There is never enough psychiatric beds for the need at any one time.

I’m absolutely horrified by this story. RIP Caroline.

In the eyes of most people here it seems, yes!

I don’t know the details of what happened but hearing people talk about “domestic abuse” “brutally beaten” etc it makes her sound like she was kicking the shit of the guy all the time as part of her daily routine.

If it’s true her fella had an affair, she self harmed then threw a lamp at him then some of the comments on here are very sad (and quite scary) if you ask me.

There’s a big difference between calculated brutal attacks & domestic abuse over throwing something at someone as a one off when she was severely depressed and needed mental help.

Abuse (by its very definition) is about being in control and abusing your position/power over someone whether that be mentally, physically or both. She was clearly not in control of even her own self let alone someone else!
A truly excellent post that gives this thread some much needed clarity.

I do feel in today’s society in general too many people use mental health as an exuse, I work in social housing and 99% of housing applications the applicant states mental health as a dissability ! At my daughters secondary school bad behaviour is normal my labeld oh that child has an issue such as autism or mental health!! I just think it’s over used and the culture of today can’t except criticism and be called out for bad behaviour!!!

I was a DV victim and the police were called to an incident where my head was smashed against a kitchen tap....... I begged and begged to not prosecute him but the cps chose to and you know what I’m so glad they did ..... or I could of ended up dead eventually.

Caroline flack clearly did have a lot of inner demons and she did need some serious help and that’s the point there are severe cases of mental health that get overlooked because too many people these days uses it as a crutch! But if what happend did happen I’m sorry I’m my opinion does not exuse the violent attack on her partner! The police were called for a reason! And the fact now in the press it’s saying she couldn’t handle the body cam footage being made public, of course that would be harrowing but at the end of the day don’t attack your bf then:..... I’m just sick of all these wanna be celebs crying wolf about mental health, it’s ok for them to show off their latest buys , new gifted lifestyles., flog diet pills etc, have dream non crying babies generally making joe public feel like shit but then kick up a stink when they get called out on their behaviour suddenly negative comments effect their lives and mental health!! Just so hypocritical I can’t take it!
My 15 year old is adamant she wants plastic surgery because of all these z listers?! They don’t think of the impact they have just tag line their new bodies as “new look... who dis” 🤢 kind of crap

As for CF though she really did need intervention she should of been sectioned before arrest for her own safety !! But should of defo still faced the consequences
