Truth. But you know I try to empathise. If you were never thought to think critically then what choice do you have? Our press is one of the most corrupt in the world and owned by a handful of billionaires. Our education system doesn't really teach about trade unionism or worker's rights or the pitfalls of capitalism - it just teaches English exceptionalism so that makes it much easier to make 'those foreign types' the enemy. The sad thing is it's the people of Blythe and Hartlepool that are going to suffer the most under this government but equally, it's what they chose.

Back to Boris and Carrie - I'm hearing rumours they are definitely finished and................... that Wilfred's not even a Johnson hahahaha!!!!
He's a Goldsmith......(allegedly)

Is the source good? Unless they fitted Wilfred with a wig, with that hair the only likely alternative to Boris being the father is old dog Stanley (wouldn't put it past him to get the ultimate one-up on his more successful son) or Michael Fabricant, surely?

Edit - just looked up Zac Goldsmith's children. Not hairy enough :)

Diane Abbott is from London an has lived in her constituencey for over 30 years and Jeremy Corbyn has also lived in his constituency for over 30 years. It would be slightly odd if they decided to represent other regions tbh.
That's fine for a constituency mp but when you are the shadow cabinet, you need to get everyone on board. They didnt. Their Brexit policy was nonsensical from the very start and that's what allowed the Brexit vote to go the way it did and the GE in 2019 to go the way it did. They were a poor opposition. Sorry I know the thread isnt about Labour but I have never been so angry or disappointed in a party or an election result as I have been these past 5 years. Anyway back to the Boris adultery

Slightly going off topic - but watching Ed M tear him to absolute shreds today was a thing of beauty. He just sat there slumped over looking miserable. I do actually wonder how much longer he's going to drag this out. He looks an absolute state.

I reckon Rishi will be PM within the next year to eighteen months.

He did get everyone on board - they were all offered roles in the shadow cabinet and then they all resigned en masse (including KS and I summarise 'because everyone else is') in a calculated attempt to oust him. They constantly briefed against him in the press. Now of course he does have his faults, but there was absolutely no attempt at compromise from his own party from the very beginning. As for the Brexit issue - I'm not sure what line they were supposed to take? They did the best that they could and I still believe in what Ian Lavery said 'we're not leavers or remainers, we are socialists'. I don't think offering the chance to vote on a deal was nonsensical at all - they were in the impossible situation of trying to please everyone. To say they were a poor opposition is factually incorrect - it is the narrative being pushed of course. Check your facts - as opposition leader, he defeated a sitting government more than any other leader. It's a real shame people let their blinding hatred of a man completely skewer reality.

Speaking as someone who's had no help at all from the government during the whole coronavirus pandemic, due to having the timerity to have been a freelancer for 23 years - and paid over 1/4 million in tax in that time, no offshore scams or dubious loans or done any other avoidance schemes - Rishi can absolutely go do one.

He's only been an MP for about five minutes, why the hell anyone would propose him as prime minister is beyond me.

3 million other abandoned freelancers think like me about him as well. That's one hell of a lot of the electorate to have pissed off and who won't forget his name.

I'm not seeing it either, young and handsome he may be but leadership material??? The Tory front bench is slim pickings to put it mildly but my friends and I have a theory that Hunt is working overtime behind the scenes to stick the knife in and just waiting for the right moment. Perhaps breaking international law might be the moment *strokes chin*?

Don't like Rishi either, he's just as bad as the others but he managed to win over people on furlough as he basically paid them their wages while they sat home and do nothing. When furlough ends, I reckon there will be a much different reception to him.

And furlough is ending just as it looks like we're headed for a second wave......... He wasn't paying people to sit home and do nothing though, it was about saving people's jobs and livelihoods.

The problem Hunt has is that he was supposed to be behind the planning for a potential pandemic until last year. The Department of Health held an exercise during Hunt's tenure as Health Secretary to test NHS and it failed dismally. If he starts making noises, I can see Johnson going on the offensive if Hunt pipes up......

Oh he's a useless tit and an absolute disaster as a Health Secretary but the fact that he took on doctors and won is actually a plus for his fanbase, as unbelievable as that may be. I think he's still waiting for the right time to make a move. He has been criticising them relentlessly on the Covid response (oh the irony H(c)unt!!!!! And then you can never trust Gove either can you? I'm hearing that Murdoch is fed up of Boris and backs Gove so it should be an interesting couple of months. My guess is no one will make a move whilst we're still in the Covid mess.

Hey long time lurker to this thread 👋

Rishi has been everyone’s favourite giving out money like the fairy godmother but he’s no different to the rest of them. He did what he had to to keep the economy afloat, there have already been reports of him thinking of raising taxes etc. The public will be paying the cost of all this into the next century 😂

My moneys on Gove as the next leader, slimey git has been waiting in the wings for years...

Hi!!!! Welcome to what has been derailed as a political thread haha!! Sadly, my money is also on Gove and God help us all...........

Rishi is indeed a Tory, never forget. Our grandchildren will be paying for £10 we had off of a pub lunch - absolute waste. Don't get me started on the billions he handed over to business in the Cayman Islands either or I may jump out my window. They will 100% use this as an excuse to both raise taxes and continue cutting public services until they're all gone. Grim times.

In bleak news, it would appear we are now going to go ahead with breaking international law. God, I swore I was taking a break from politics because it was giving me depression.
