I lost you all - didn’t realise there was a new thread!

I decided I really need to read more of my actual books than just my kindle ones. But I still need a book on my kindle to read in bed with the light off. Trying to keep one fiction and one non fiction but I think I may just drive myself mad with it 🙈😂 but will see how we go!

currently reading Hello Beautiful from the library which I think was recommended on here and loving it and The Defector on the kindle - as a KU book as my free 3 months is coming to an end.

Those who don’t know what’s on their kindle do you not obsessively put them into collections and then occasionally go through to make sure they are in the right ones….or is that just me?!? 😬🤓🤓🙈

Well, since I've just found out that I can do collections on the Kindle App, I will be! 😂

Oh I loved loved loved Hello Beautiful.

organising my kindle collection is on my to-do list along with organising my phone photo gallery, my underwear drawer and my crafts box. I have, as yet, never been bored enough to do any.

The new Bonnie Garmus is on Netgalley. Annoyingly they give very little detail as to what it’s about, instead it’s padded with details relating to Lessons.

One second - I’ve preorder the special edition on Waterstones
Peck & Peck tells the irresistible story of a young man whose life turns upside down when he is hired by the most prestigious, secretive and dysfunctional poetry journal in the world: the renowned Peck & Peck.

It's 1982, New York City. Crime is on the rise, muggings are in the streets, and Batter Gray, recent college graduate with a skill that no one wants-an 'ear' for poetry - is worried about his future. While all his friends have real jobs, he's folding T-shirts at the Gap. As for love? No. Not unless you count Sallie Mae, the student loan tyrant. He hears from Sallie all the time.

But when Batter gets a dream job at Peck & Peck, the most prestigious poetry quarterly in the world, his life moves into the literary fast lane. Soon Batter is knee-deep in the secret war between the two Editors in Chief, the famous Peck brothers - twins and enemies - as well as being privy to the private affairs of their thirty-nine editors, whose professed mission is the same: Find originality. Reward creativity. Burn the rest. And by 'burn', they mean incinerate.

I’d love to hear more about people’s kindle collections please 👀

Sounds right up my street although not sure it’d work for me currently working through alphabetically (for the third time).

I’ve also decided alongside my alphabet kindle reading, I’m going to search for any as audiobooks on the library apps, so then they can be deleted from my kindle after.

First up is Apple Tree Yard which I bought in 2017 🙂

Booker Prize Long list has been announced. Nice to see new Elizabeth Strout on there. And May We Feed the King won the debut fiction prize for Waterstones. There’s a few on there I want to read

Oh feck, I tried and failed to read both Switzy and the Palm House, particularly hated the style of the latter.

My collection sorting on Kindle is incredibly boring - fiction and non-fiction 😅

I'm too lazy to sort my Kindle chaos into collections, tbh. But would love to hear what sorts of collections people have

I’ve only just found that I’d set them up and now it’s boring, I’ve got 2, Christmas and then read before watch (for tv/film adaptations)! But when I did that…. No clue 😂

That’s disappointing - they were the only ones I was interested in other than May We Feed the King which was already on my wishlist.

My biggest kindle collection by far is my ‘To Read’ collection. Every book I buy goes into that and then once I’ve read them I put them in one of my other collections: Book Club, Fantasy, Historical, Memoirs, Modern, Smut, Teen, Thriller and Unlimited(as in kindle unlimited books). Jilly Cooper, Julia Quinn, K.J Charles and the Rivers of London series all get their own collection too to keep them altogether. I think I’ve done that ever since I had a kindle.

my kindle is genuinely 80% mlm sports based romances (and some historical ones!) so the only thing i could possibly sort into collections is the different types of sport 🤣 (and even then the hockey collection would be five times the size of anything else).

this remains why i always claim my kindle is “frozen” when people want to look at it. some of the covers are a lot 😇

Showed my kobo reader to someone and wished I hadn't 🫠 keep maligning Amazon's hardware, much better for you

no one in my friends or family will ever buy a kindle given how often i’m like “oh it’s not working right now” or “oh the screen is being weird” or “the library doesn’t show up oh no look over there instead“. sorry amazon, i’m sure those lost sales will really impact you 😅

On a related note..
Why does nobody ever ask me what I’m reading when I’m reading something I’d like to show off about.. they wait until I’m reading the fluffiest romance.

Same. Lots of intense award winning novels and serious literature or very important books in my collection and that I do actually read. But only ever asked when I decide to do a comfort re-read of Maeve Binchy or similar. Perhaps I look more approachable when I'm reading fluffier books.

I got asked on a Teams call with about 30 people the other day and I was all like "I'm reading the 2nd book in the Dune series" all proud of myself that it wasn't yet another murder book and someone said "enjoy it, the rest in the series are tit" - cheers, thanks!
