I used to think about that in an old bookshop. The weight of all those books above my head.
I am reading Framed by John Grisham and Jim McClosky. It is non fiction about ten wrongly convicted people in America.
One person their innocence project was able to save from execution by just two days. An innocent man would have died for a 'crime' he didn't commit 23 (!) years ago, saved by just two days. This was due to DNA advances.
It is a really fascinating book.

I get that in principle the Amazon thing seems outrageous, but being completely honest I have no idea what’s actually on my Kindle! Apart from the books I’m planning on reading soon and a few absolute faves, the majority of it is filler. For all I know Amazon could already be deleting a book or two every week and I probably wouldn’t notice.
And if I’d bought all the those books in physical form so wouldn’t be threatening 10,000 book guys record, but I’d definitely have offloaded a good chunk of them myself.

So absolutely, Amazon could be taking away things and I'd be none the wiser. And probably unaffected. Which makes me even more convinced this dude could not name much less locate all 10,000 of his books.
Oooooh I am going to have to investigate this. I’m a law grad and did a research paper on capital punishment. I shan’t derail the thread but there are no defensible reasons in support of it and sooooooo many against. Have you read The Life of David Gale? It’s bonkers a premise of course but interesting as a thought experiment.

They do take them away, I started scrolling back through my old kindle reading insights one sleepless night and there were a bunch of 'no longer' available showing on previous years.
Again not to derail but I actually write to a man on death row, there is nothing to link him to the crime. No dna, no witnesses, nothing. It makes my heart hurt every time one of his friends get their execution. He has sat there for an unbelievable 32 years, doesn't know anything about the world now.
I hadn't heard of the book byt have found a copy on WoB so when I have finished Framed and have space I will order it.

A new classic tv adaptation on the way, this time The Portrait of a Lady by Henry James. Quite nice to get an adaptation of something other than Jane Austen or the Brontes for a change! (As much as I love Jane Austen!)

Just started The 7 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle and enjoying it so far.

The author says here it was changed to 7 1/2 to avoid confusion with TJR's Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. The similar names are a complete coincindence! Hugo came out just prior to Hardcastle.
I’d be interested to know your thoughts when you’ve finished. I tried to read it a few years ago and found it so confusing I ended up DNFing! I often wonder if it’s worth another go.
I've had audible cancelled for a few months and was checking something in my library online and saw they're offering 99p a month for three months (then up to £5.99). So if anyone else has previous had an audible UK subscription it could be worth having a look and seeing if it's available!
Finished dissection of a murder-
Bit disappointed with it. I think I’ve just read too many of these types of books as I can always predict what happens.
I can also predict most stuff in other books as well as I’m sure I can, but I think with this Genre it feels a bit different when you know whats coming.

It didn't wow me either. I expected to have my mind blown from the reviews but it was very typical of its genre and not the best executed version. I thought it was good but I expected much more.
