Now the World Cup has finished I can get back to reading properly.

I have gone right back to the beginning of Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series. I had forgotton how much I loved this series when I was younger.

I recently signed up to my local library, which is linked to Borrowbox and Libby. I'm making use of the audiobooks, they have ebooks but I'd have to read on my phone.

Not all the books I want are immediately available or there at all but it's a godsend as it means I no longer have to be strategic about what I listen to on Spotify.

About The Correspondent in the previous thread, interesting that there are different covers for it! I assume that was a UK cover. My copy had a cover with two birds. I loved it. I even ordered it for my mother who lives in another country as I thought she’d enjoy it too.

Also, callback to the other thread, I enjoyed Consider Yourself Kissed too. It wasn’t what I expected it to be. Though I’m not sure what I was expecting.

That was me. Glad you enjoyed it. Think this is her first internationally published book. Would be interested to read what she writes next.

the posts are really interesting to read!! i find this stuff so fascinating (i love scrolling through all the alternative editions on goodreads).

that bird cover for the correspondent is so pretty, i like it better than ours!

I'm still making my way through our list, just finished A Pale View of Hills, which was on @Blueblue123's list. Contains all the things I like best about Ishiguro, being a fascinating character study, and the bonus of teaching me about the rebuilding of Nagasaki. I was so intrigued by the description of the statue that I had a detour looking up Peace Park.

Hot (maybe) tip for future borrowing on Libby is that you can extend your time at some libraries from 14 days to 21 days

On the borrow page, click through where it says "borrowing for"

Select your preferred borrowing time

Read and finished "we just want you to be happy" by Jem Calder. For fans of vibes and little plot I think. Sally Rooney but with more punctuation. It was in Kindle Daily Deals last week and I still feel a bit cheated at paying 99p. Should have just got on with the Ken Follet instead of buying more!

Currently reading Project Hail Mary which I’ve been putting off for so long, though I’ve no idea why I’ve been putting it off. I’m enjoying it but admittedly have to read some of the science stuff a few times, because I am just not science brained at all

I just finished Project Hail Mary last week and loved it! Then promptly watched the film too (the book is better as always)

Somebody previously said they asked chat GPT for book suggestions so I gave it a go. I have quite a few books on my kindle so I am reading the books I have (which it suggested) first. And wait for other suggestions to go on offer.

1st book - bright young women - it was ok.
2nd book - Margo’s got money troubles - really enjoyed this. Kind weird but I liked it.
3rd book - sorrow & bliss - not long started it but enjoying so far.

I told chat gpt what books I rated 5* and also books I rated low. Then when suggested books I already read I would tell it how I rated them. Sure you could pull a spreadsheet off good reads or something but didn’t think of that!
