I'm too lazy to sort my Kindle chaos into collections, tbh. But would love to hear what sorts of collections people have

it’s my time to shine although I buy a lot of non fiction so it’s probably easier to put them into collections.

I have:

Politics
Equality/feminism
Self care
Neurodiversity
Homemaking
Read
Nature etc

there is no way I’d ever know what to read if it was just one giant muddle

On a related note..
Why does nobody ever ask me what I’m reading when I’m reading something I’d like to show off about.. they wait until I’m reading the fluffiest romance.

Quite a few years ago someone on a train asked what I’d been reading as apparently I kept smiling at it. The answer was One Direction fan fiction! I had to make something up quickly

Booker Prize Long list has been announced. Nice to see new Elizabeth Strout on there. And May We Feed the King won the debut fiction prize for Waterstones. There’s a few on there I want to read

I finished The 7 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle and I have to say I was underwhelmed.

It had a promising set up but began to get unnecessarily overcomplicated, and the "reveal(s)" were either anticlimactic and/or inadequately explained.

Stuart Turton rather arrogantly comparing himself to Agatha Christie and smugly patting himself on the back about how obsessed the reader will be with the book in the Afterword didn't help, tbh.

The prize rules only require books to be published in the UK or Ireland between October 1 last year and September 30 this year and Switzy is due to be released in September. Judges are sent ARCs

I finished The 7 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle and I have to say I was underwhelmed.

It had a promising set up but began to get unnecessarily overcomplicated, and the "reveal(s)" were either anticlimactic and/or inadequately explained.

Stuart Turton rather arrogantly comparing himself to Agatha Christie and smugly patting himself on the back about how obsessed the reader will be with the book in the Afterword didn't help, tbh.

I did enjoy it, but it wasn't spectacular. I liked The Devil and The Dark Water more.

And am saving Last Murder at the End of the World for a special occasion - like when you save nice clothes for best, but with a book.

i HATED this book. i didn’t even finish it. like you say, the self-satisfied writing really didn’t help and i hated how he ended every chapter as if he was reassuring the reader that really exciting things were happening (i remember one ending like “as i fell further into a darkness of my own making!!!!” or some nonsense). i hate when you can really tell that the author is nodding to themselves like god i’m good as they’re writing.

it’s such a clever idea too, i wish a better writer would steal it from him.

That's exactly what it was like!

I also saw a Goodreads review that said while it's 500 or so pages, it feels even longer and it absolutely does.

There are very few books I DNF and Evelyn Hardcastle is one of them. Glad I didn't torture myself with finishing it.

I feel like I need to sort collections out because my Kindle is becoming a jumble sale of 99p purchases

I'm still not over it. I thought it was going to be really formulaic and it wasn't. And I really didn't like some of the characters at times but then really loved them all by the end. Definitely the best book of the year.

All the characters were so flawed but you couldn’t help but love them esp when you read their stories.

This came at just the right time. Needed to start a new book but didn’t fancy any of the ones in my library. Got 12% through last night!

I have just finished the second Crescent City book, I think CC is is my favourite of the 3 Maasverse series'. That last chapter of Book 2...

Let's see if I still feel the same after House of Flame and Shadow.

Just the third Crescent City book plus Kingdom of Ash from the Throne of Glass series to go. And then a break before ACOTAR 6 comes out.

You Are Here by David Nicholls is being adapted for TV!! Starring Claire Foy and Matthew Mcfadyen. I cannot flipping wait.

Glad so many other people dislike The Seven Deaths... It's one of my very few DNF because I just found it too smug to read

The BBC have announced an adaptation of David Nicholls "You are Here". I absolutely love Matthew Macfadyen and can definitely see him as Michael and I reckon Claire Foy is a good shout for Marnie.

Claire Foy and Matthew Macfadyen lead the cast of You Are Here, adapted from David Nicholls' best-selling novel

Nicholls will adapt the series for the screen, with Lenny Abrahamson directing
