It’ll go down by the end of the month to hit the sales target, wouldn’t be surprised if it was 99p before longI was so excited to see that there is a new Janice Hallett out (The Silent Appeal), but it's £15 for the Kindle version. Fifteen! Nope.

Tattle posts can be pure literary genius so you will still get your culture fix !Oh gosh no I absolutely am not. I was. I averaged 80-100 a year. But for the last three months, I’ve been utterly consumed with work, so when the workday ends I just want to vegetate online. Now I might read 2-3 books a month, max. I feel sad and guilty tbh. But I just don’t have the brain for reading anything more than a tattle post or IG caption most days.
I finished this book, and I would have left this woman at the altar tooI don't know why I keep trying second-chance romances when it's really not my thing (Persuasion excepted, but maybe it ruined me for all others), especially because it nearly always leaves me thinking that breaking up was the right thing to do.
Make the Season Bright by Ashley Herring Blake... I might have to dnf halfway through. One of them left the other at the altar without a word, literally disappeared whilst her fiancée was walking down the aisle, and thinks the ex is super unreasonable for not wanting to hear her out after?
Cannot see me rooting for these two to get back together.
i liked it but backman’s writing style has really started to grate on me. i hate all the baiting and switching he does, and the little montages of like someone many years ago told him [insert odd proverb type thing here] and it was only NOW he realised how true it was.I'm so glad I found this thread! I have a TBR pile as long as my arm. I'm currently working through 'My Friends' by Fredrik Backman - what am I missing?! I'm on the verge of not finishing, but it has so many 5* reviews, I feel like i'm going to miss something or it's just going to get good? I'm on chapter 18 of 59 .... someone explain the hype?!
I just don't seem to like his writing style.I'm so glad I found this thread! I have a TBR pile as long as my arm. I'm currently working through 'My Friends' by Fredrik Backman - what am I missing?! I haven't read this one yet. Love Fredrick Backman but I don't know how many more of his books I will enjoy, he has a very particular style...when it's good it's great, when it's bad it's mawkish and a bit simplistic.I'm so glad I found this thread! I didn’t mind it cos I’m big into my lit fic but I do agree that it seemed to drift around between different genres without settling on a set storyline. The ending was very anticlimactic and not remotely believable and different threads kept being picked up and dropped.I've started Moderation by Elaine Castillo and so far it's just.....nonsense, is the only way I can describe it?
A lot of long rambling, backstory for the protagonist, any relevant parts of which should be being revealed throughout the story not infodumped in one go at the beginning.
Also, some really unnecessarily graphic references to the online content she moderates (hence the title), which seem to be inserted only for shock value.
The first chapter seems to suggest that the setting is some sort of technocratic dystopia, but this immediately disappears.
It's....bizarre. I know someone else on here didn't like it.
I saw that too and am annoyed because I pre-ordered during a 25% off pre-orders.. it’s also half price at TGJones. Trying to decide if I can be bothered to return my original order (it’s just been dispatched) 🫠Women's Prize says there's half off the new Kate Atkinson hardback at Waterstones - any takers (@LaBlonde)? (Code NOBLE26)
For my part, I actually preordered the audiobook, read by Rupert Penry-Jones
Can you raise a complaint with Waterstones? Seems unfair!I saw that too and am annoyed because I pre-ordered during a 25% off pre-orders.. it’s also half price at TGJones. Trying to decide if I can be bothered to return my original order (it’s just been dispatched) 🫠

I definitely feel the same. I think Jewell is one of those writers who just keeps getting better and better and ive loved her last few books. But ive also read some of her back catalogue including Watching You and have been disappointed in all of her older onesBought a Lisa Jewell paperback that I hadn't seen before when I was in Tesco last week.
Turns out I downloaded on my Kindle 4 years ago and not read it.
Not my favourite of hers, I worked out the perp quite early on, not as good as None of This is True or The Family Upstairs
Mentions gang stalking.. felt like. Jessica Taylor cross over
