I currently find myself coming to the end of an audio book - The Girl On The Cliff by Lucinda Riley which has held my attention despite my usual wandering concentration, (and annoying drivers distracting me whilst driving as they do dangerous things).
The other book The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton I have been reading at night in bed. I love a mystery and there is mystery aplenty in this book. I feel a bit like Alice in Wonderland tumbling into a bookshop and weaving my way through fairytales. The book is over 650 pages long, not unlike the Strike series of tomes by Robert Galbraith (J K Rowling).
Turns out they're both old books which I expect you have read already.
They are really interesting stories to come back to after I previously absconded to The Cedar Tree TV series on You Tube.

Aww, I know I absolutely loved that book. The Forgotten Garden. I've actually considered reading it again or getting it on Audio because I will have forgotten a lot of it, but it would be right up there with my favourites.

Good to know. Wish I had more time to devote to it.
Currently struggling to pay my bills and not getting the security texts.
Tattlers suggested ringing my bank, but no joy there. They said I must have bad reception.
Sent a test text to someone which they got, but I didn't get the one back
It's a mystery. I'd far rather be working out the mystery in The Forgotten Garden.

I quite like Phoebe but I am not sure she's right for the role? Maybe because all I've seen her in is Bridgerton, where she's playing quite a different sort of female lead. beach is also my favourite emily henry and so i was excited for this. i’m not sure about phoebe but my fan casting for january was always victoria pendretti - i feel she needs someone a bit more dreamy looking.

gus is my favourite of ALL emhen men so i’m stressed i see logan lerman is heavily rumoured and i wouldn’t be mad at it though he isn’t my paul mescal dream cast 🥲

Ohh Kate Morton really specialises in large multi-generational sagas! So if you enjoy this one she's got a number of others to dig your teeth into. They should be at your local library too. https://www.panmacmillan.com/blogs/fiction/kate-morton-books-in-order This has blurbs for all her books.

Why does life give you a book that you want to read desperately when you have important things to do!
I've sneaked away and just got to the bit where I get a revelation and I have to put it down!

When it comes to charity shops the choices of books recently have left a lot to be desired.

The Works is just such a disappointment these days. I haven't bought a book there for well over a year. There just isn't anything.

Yep, I went into The Works the other day and there was just nothing in there apart from several Freida books and BookTok books which don't interest me in the slighest.

it really is awful now. i usually used to be able to pick up one or two things in there but their entire selection is just so poor. in my local one the actual book section is getting smaller and smaller too.

The works used to be great for really random non fiction books. I went into the local Oxfam book shop the other day and loved their random selection so will definitely be going there more and it’s not book buying it’s donating to charity

Yeah, I agree The Works entire selection is just so poor nowadays whereas before they had decent books that were right up my street but now they don't have anything that I like.

Yes, the non fiction used to be great, some interesting and random stuff like you say and actually you'd also get some amazing bargains.

I remember when there was a proper official Lewis Hamilton book after his first WDC, hardback I got it for 99p at The Works. It contained the first proper thirst trap picture of Lewis I ever got obsessed with.

My local branch has loads of books but they are mostly ‘booktok’, I went in recently looking for the latest Lisa Jewell paperback but it was Freida and more Frieda. Will be going next week so get the follow up to First Time Caller (which I’ve totally forgotten the name of).
