I read this a couple of years ago but I can't remember anything about it.

OK, every single alphabet-letter-selection book you have all chosen for me has been brilliant. This latest one is no different. First Born, by Will Dean. I just noticed this is 99p right now, you'll be hard pressed to find something more worthy of your 99 pennies today

i have officially ended things with lucy score. can’t do it. i don’t know if i can even do lucian and sloane’s book. things we hide from the light was, like all her other books, 300 pages too long, full of strange dirty talk and obsessed with BABIES. i’m out

and i decided to follow that with intermezzo and whoever here said sally rooney has a really weird way of writing a woman who (gasp) is not in her early twenties was bang on because why is she described like she’s an old crone

aw i do too - a lot of ls’ little writing quirks really bug me though so i’m worried that i won’t have the patience for it. BUT they’ve always been the most involving couple for me so, for you GF, i’ll give it a try!

I’m currently reading Remarkably Bright Creatures on my kindle for an online book club and The Killing Habit by Mark Billingham from the library. Enjoying both.

I got Remarkably Bright Creatures on Netgalley and still havent got round to it.. I heard ppl raving about it but didnt realise it was about a ruddy octopus..

But I am taking that as a sign and will read the next one - Anne Boleyn next.

OOh I nearly bought Seymour when my friend was playing her in Six but she departed the show so i went off the boil

So jealous about Six, at least she didn't get her head chopped off. They are good books. I can get completely absorbed in them and quite fancy myself living at Court as a lady in waiting.

I’ve got another Book Club Meeting this week, ’genre’ is books about birthdays or celebrations. So far I’ve thought of Mrs Dalloway(!) and Ralph’s party by Lisa Jewell. Anyone got any other ideas?

Last time was books about drinking and people were brilliant with recommendations, I read the little coffee shop of Kabul and Blood Orange, both of which I enjoyed, even though there were no likeable characters in Blood Orange and the ending was a slightly odd choice. It was clear the husband was a wrongun very early on but I did wonder whether she was just a really unreliable narrator because of all the drinking. I had made the assumption that he was a pedalo and his men’s sex addiction group he was counselling was a pedalo ring which was why he wanted to keep their child.Quite glad it didn’t go down that route but the autoerotique asphyxiation route was very out of the blue, even though it was the first thing you read!

Yesterday I finished the Filthy Rich Vampires Quadology(?) got a bit bored by the end of the fourth one and of course there was a surprise(ish) pregnancy Would love to read a book where a couple are all over each other but specifically don’t want that to happen if anyone also has any ideas!

I’ll add wedding people to the list (the one by Alison Espach?) our Book Club is not very fussy about how close we stick to the subject and they‘re all about 80 so like gentler everyday life sort of books but don’t mind thrillers too. There’s a couple of rebels like me who try and put in slightly off the wall recommendations as well!

The Dilemma by BA Paris? It's centred around a 40th birthday party i gave it 3 stars but it was the first book I thought of when it came to parties. Or what about This Family by Kate Sawyer, that's quite good and centred around a wedding

Happy bloody Christmas is a fun easy read. Obviously Christmas themed but doesn’t have to be read at Christmas!

I've been having concentration issues lately but want to get back into reading. I'm starting off with a middle grade book lol. After that it's a choice from the Unread Pile: The Camomile Lawn, The Warm Hands of Ghosts, and The Kamogawa Food Detectives.

I DNF'd What You are Looking for is in the Library. I know it's popular but I just couldn't.

Thank you! I read the dilemma last year, just checked and gave it 4 stars. For some reason I kept thinking everything was going to be ok and the daughter wasn’t going to be on the plane which kept me reading and was disappointed when she was. I was very much on the husband’s side of not telling the wife until the party was over because it was such a huge thing to have a party for her though.

I have added them both to the list.

ahh I read the Katherine of Aaragon one earlier this year and it’s massive! I’ve got all of them but needed a break

I started The Trial late last week and raced through the first 20%. It's just not calling me now though and I'm not as invested . I'll finish it but, currently, I'm glad that I didn't buy the sequel.
