If it’s a really old device and hasn’t been used for a while maybe it needs a software update? Sure a Google search would talk you though how to do it on your device. Or maybe see if you can get yourself a new on one on a Prime Day bargain this week!It’s the original first kindle that they did.
I’ve deregistered the original account from it and logged in again. The kindle is now shown as recognised in my Amazon account online but when I send my borrowed books to it it just says ‘attempted’ and that’s it. I’ve tried switching it on and off and sending the books back and reordering them.

books for me. Good, you enjoy reading it but it doesn't do anything more than be something you enjoy reading at the time. You finish, put it down, move on. Only 4/5 star books are memorable to me.I think it depends on why you’re reading something. I studied literature at uni and there are books that will stay with me forever because of the depth of analysis and literary criticism we did on them. I read those books specifically to go deeply into them - the characters, the plots, the context etc.I must say it's very reassuring to see other people say they finish books and then forget what's happened in them! I Am Pilgrim was my first book of the year so I’m afraid I peaked in JanuaryIm listening to the third book in the deverills chronicles and enjoying them. Perfect as an audiobook. Also finished reading "Just for the summer"- it was quite good easy read I thought, solid 3 stars.
But haven't picked up anything new in the last few days, not fancying any of the books I've bought recentlyso here to ask: what is everyone favourite book of the year so far?

Exactly, in exactly the same way a footballer wouldn't remember details of every match, etc etc. I think that applies to every hobby. Most books I don't remember, or more vaguely remember the plot or names, but if I read the blurb it triggers my memory so its there somewhere. I star rate books according to whether I'm still 'in the book' when I get to the end, those ones that give me all the feels are usually the ones i give 5 stars to and they will be the ones I remember

reads too, e.g. I was in no hurry reading Gentleman in Moscow which must help me remember them, that and I only tend to rate 5 if I it’s a book that I think has a lasting impression. Not until Feb 2025Exactly this for me too!

I agree, I did an EngLit degree over a decade ago and it killed reading for fun for me for ages... too much analysing poems and extracts, ahahaha. I only just got back reading for pleasure this past year. I just looked at my Read list on Goodreads for this year and I had already forgotten some of the books I read in Jan-Feb, woops. I think sometimes we remember the ones that impacted on us emotionally or provoked thought, and we don't remember the 'meh' books that just filled the time. Heck, I'm currently rewatching old Poirots and Marples and there are some I KNOW I have watched before say 15-20 years ago and I can't remember the plot or whodunnit, until I get to the end of the episode and remember.
