twee is the word i would use too! i HATE epilogues which are like “and then everyone was happy and had babies!” anyway so it just didn’t work for me. plus i feel like she completely forgot about bonnie for the final quarter. and what even happened to lucky? there’s a huge implication at the end that she continued relapsing, isn’t there? i didn’t know how i felt about it!
Not entirely sure how I felt about Bonnie and Pavel tbh. Even Avery being on good terms with her ex wife felt a bit much/unnecessary.bonnie and pavel honestly made me a bit mad. i liked how matter of fact bonnie was at the start in knowing he wasn’t interested, but i had a terrible feeling that they were going to end up together anyway. it was just all a bit too obvious and i don’t think we ever had any indication of his feelings.The ending was good enough, I think it left the reader with enough to feel satisfied that their lives were all moving in a positive direction. Without the epilogue I would have rated 4.5

I listened to it and thought it was quite funny at parts and entertaining enough for an easy listen but nothing to write home about and I really don’t understand the hype around it!I read Dial A for Aunties by Jesse Q Sutanto because I needed something light but I'm so confused as to why this book has almost 100k reviews and seemed super popular on bookstagram about 3 years ago when it came out.
It's like every character is actually a cardboard cliche. The shenanigans are ridiculous to the point where the normal amounts of suspension of disbelief are no longer enough. It's like it didn't know if it wanted to be a slapstick comedy, a soap opera, a family drama, a romance, a thriller.
Anyway. If you've read it I'd like to know what you thought

I genuinely didn’t see the twists coming at all! I think it’s a wee missed gem for Freida fans. The FMC was annoying as hell and there were times my eyes rolled and I muttered “wtf” more than once but it was a good wee palate cleanserOoh I have just started this today, I'm a few chapters in and it hasn't 'grabbed' me yet but I will persevere with itHas anyone else read The Surrogate Mother by Freida McFadden? I’ve never heard anyone mention it on booktok or here. I finished it yesterday and it was actually a really fun read

How nice is this cover?? I haven't bought it, just admired from a distance. Its setting is something new, but I'm tired of Greek mythology retellings and this sounds too similar in plot/theme.

I'm a 99% Kindle reader (too many books in my house to get any more physical ones), and absolutely terrible for buying a regular handful of £0.99 deals to add to my massive TBR list!
I read lots of genres, although I've scaled the crime novels way back compared to what I used to read.
Pleased to see the Seven Sisters series mentioned a few pages back. I've really enjoyed it so far but I've never progressed past the 4th book because the 5th one is £5.99 and I basically refuse to spend more than £2.99 on a Kindle book!
My current read is The Trade by Morgan Greene, which I hope to finish today
