Im listening to the third book in the deverills chronicles and enjoying them. Perfect as an audiobook. Also finished reading "Just for the summer"- it was quite good easy read I thought, solid 3 stars.

But haven't picked up anything new in the last few days, not fancying any of the books I've bought recently so here to ask: what is everyone favourite book of the year so far?

I have a number of books that have been my favourite reads so far this year and these are:
The Allotment Girls by Kate Thompson
The Girls From Mersey View by Lyn Andrews
Goodbye Mersey View by Lyn Andrews
The Desperate Brides Diet by Alison Sherlock
Death by a Cornish Cove by Fliss Chester
A Mother's Love by Lyn Andrews
Someone Else's Baby by Ruby Speechley
But if I had to pick my favourite book of the year so far it would have to be The Allotment Girls by Kate Thompson with The Desparate Brides Diet by Alison Sherlock coming a very close second.

Between 3 for me - Small Things Like These by Claire Keegan, The Searcher by Tana French and Good Material by Dolly Alderton.

Reading is slow for me at the moment. I feel like I’ve been reading my current books for a long time, even though one of them is The Marriage Act by John Marrs who I love. I’m just not connecting with the characters really so it’s definitely not a “can’t put it down” book for me.

I did help out at our local book festival this weekend though.

Authors I met and spoke to were Kate Rhodes, Victoria Dowd and Jasper Fforde.

I’ve not read any of their books but of course many are now on my TBR 🫣 Kate and Victoria were on the same interview panel and had a really nice relaxed and informal chat that just flowed. They were funny and interesting and seemed like genuinely lovely people. Kate offered to buy us a cuppa after

Jasper seemed really interested in our town and asked for directions to walk along the river afterwards as he’d never been. At his book signing he had a decent queue of people who’d brought many of their books with them for signing and he spent a lot of time chatting with each person.

We also had Michael Rosen here but sadly I didn’t see him. He had 500+ tickets bought for his event which was a record number for the book festival.

Also not this year but in previous years we’ve had Louise Beech (I hadn’t worked it but went to see her) and everyone that mentioned her said how lovely she was, genuinely one of the nicest people

I think I'm turning into a broken record on this one. But my favourite book I've read this year is The Will of the Many by James Islington.

what is everyone favourite book of the year so far?

I'm torn between three... Weyward by Emilia Hart, The Trial by Rob Rinder, and Home Front by Kristin Hannah. HF probably would clinch it, but all ones I rated 5*s on Goodreads, and can actually remember what happened (unusual as like others on this thread I am v guilty of finishing a book and immediately forgetting everything).

Mine is a tie between Moonflower Murders and A Court of Mist and Fury.

Saving everyone's books of the year to create a master TBR list have read some but not many and interesting to see a few of the same books on everyone's list. I've had a mediocre year of reading so far but I'd say my top are a court of wings and ruin and a court of silver flames as these are the two of the series I finished this year. I'm usually harsh with my book reviews though, I never really give anything five stars

Romance. But a few of my faves this year are

My Dark Desire - LJ Shen & Parker S Huntington
Caught Up - Liz Tomforde
Clickbait - LC North
None of this is true - Lisa Jewell

and I’m going to say Reminders of him by Colleen hoover. I was over the Colleen hype ages ago but for some reason I picked this one up. And it had me hooked from the first couple of pages. It was both so heartbreaking but heartwarming. I loved it!

and I’m going to say Reminders of him by Colleen hoover. I was over the Colleen hype ages ago but for some reason I picked this one up. And it had me hooked from the first couple of pages. It was both so heartbreaking but heartwarming. I loved it!

I've just read Clickbait, I did really enjoy it. Wasn't sure about the format at first and it felt disjointed and hard to get in the flow, but it soon got easier and I loved it.

which kindle do you have? You need to make sure you are using Amazon website (safari if iPhone) and not the app. X
