I finished Big Little Lies yesterday (late to the party) and it was pretty good, not a fave but I liked it. Are any of her other books worth a look?

A Court of Mist and Fury is getting me out of a reading slump. I have a feeling I might fall for Rhys, after hating him in ACOTAR. I'm about 100 pages in and I'm hooked.

Started listening to Remarkably Bright Creatures while doing housework. Loving it so far! I don’t think I would have picked it so big thanks to those of you here who recommended it.

I’ve just started Devil’s Breath by Jill Johnson. I was sucked in by the cover but enjoying it so far, let’s hope it gets me out of my slump! Has anyone else read it?

No but it is close to the top of my tbr. So I am curious to hear what you think of it.

I devoured this today. Which I also only picked up because of the cover....

it was fun, a little bit magical and a cute storyline.

On a happier book buying note, popped into The Works yesterday and they had Saving 6, the one they didn’t have last week! So now I’ve got the first 4 and then used the Waterstones double plus points offer to justify buying Taming 7 (plus Whispers Underground to add to the Rivers of London collection and Murder isn’t easy: The forensics of Agatha Christie to add to Past Mortems and A is for Arsenic: The poisons of Agatha Christie)

After my little spree last Sunday I also bought a new bookcase to house everything in so very much looking forward to that arriving, assembling it and then moving books around on the bookshelves.

I’m sure you all do this but I have a couple of Amazon wish lists, one called ‘Kindle to buy’ and one ‘Kindle Unlimited’ (even though I don’t have it yet, waiting for the summer when I can read all day for weeks!) this month I’ve bought 12 kindle books that were on my wish lists because they were reduced to 99p or £1.49. They’re not often advertised on my deal of the day email but I check the wish lists daily. It can’t just be coincidence.

A Court of Mist and Fury I still have a few chapters left but expect to finish it today , and I am loving it.

Death of a Witch A Hamish Macbeth mystery, quite enjoyable, was audio version with great scottish accent. A good listen whilst gardening.

The Windsor Knot Enjoyable, QE2 investigates a murder on the sly. Typical cosy crime, with royal references that made it feel familiar and fun.

The Last Bus to Woodstock (Inspector Morse) . I really enjoyed this the audio narrator made it sound like I was right there with the characters.

My Husband + 1/2 gave it 3 on Goodreads but really i think it should be 2.5. was a stream of consciousness with no redeeming character lessons etc. Was quite depressing

Agatha Raisin and The Witches Tree okay to listen to whilst doing chores.

Hi bookworms. My reading is very slow this month and not sure why, feeling more like a book snail than a bookworm I have a free Sunday so hoping to get loads of reading done then

Six books for me this June. Mainly audio as I’ve felt too tired to read and found audio more passive. There’s a few others I’ve listened to at nighttime too but I’ve not counted them as my memory of them is broken because I did sleep through lots of them.

Going on holiday next month and forget planning outfits, I’m planning my books. A week in the sun - do you take all beachy reads/books with a summer setting or do you just opt for ones you know will hook you and can spend all day reading. This is also my first holiday with a kindle so I’m excited to not have to limit myself to save the weight of my case (plus my books on holiday always seem to get wrecked from the heat, suncream, water etc)

Haven't read loads this month. Been very busy with work and other things.

Read nothing special I've hugely loved, some decent stuff.

But one book I've hated, One Love by Matt Cain. 2 friends, 20 year friendship, unrequited love, and general inability to communicate.

Yes, it was all about learning to love yourself, but the journey to that was awful, with characters who were completely cliched, unbelievably unlikeable, and a resolution and the "healing" that felt like it just happened too quickly at the end. And I just hated it.

It annoyed me so much.

If I hadn't spent good money on it as a hardback, I probably would've dnf'd it. But I don't like giving up on hardbacks, I want moneys worth, but I didn't get it.

Since joining the library and this thread I have taken note of recommendations and read a far wider range of books. Some that will stay in my heart forever....
So having recently finished what has been described to me as a fantasy book, and then finally getting my hands on this intriguing book....we'll all I can say is yes, I too have fallen in love with this book and its characters. If you want my opinion for nothing I think it should be made into a film.
I'd rather watch this than all the usual bilge served up at the cinema.....and it's something the world needs to watch with the state the world is in.
As I would self describe myself as a bit of a soft ha'porth I might unfortunately embarrass whoever I went to see this at the cinema with if they made a film of it, as I did find myself sobbing at some points in the book but also laughing at others.
I only know that when I hear the song Somewhere Beyond The Sea next there might be the suspicious glint of a tear in my eye.
ETA forgot to mention it was The House In The Cerulean Sea.

Some of my favourite books EVER have come from this thread, and I have read thrillers, sci-fi and fantasy....all which I'd never picked up before. It has really reignited my love for reading!

I tend to download a mix on my kindle.

I woukdnt download any Christmas books as the vibe would be off.

But beachy/summer themes are good, or a thriller as I know it will be fast paced and grip me and I'm partial to a smutty book on holiday

Haha this has made me laugh because it’s a running joke with my other half that I’m Christmas mad and every year without fail on holiday he’ll find me on my sunlounger, browsing Christmas decs online on my phone So a Christmas book wouldn’t actually be out of the question

Hi lovely peeps I’ve been so mia I lost the thread. I am in such a slump Saving Noah wrecked me. I’m actually still not over it and even writing this is making me cry I was trying to explain it to my mum and couldn’t speak for sobbing anyway I’m still listening to HP so at least I’m doing something and Stephen Fry really is wonderful. I’m sure I’ll get over the slump soon

I have just started, or should I say truthfully, gobbled down, the first 124 pages of the first in the Lucinda Riley Seven Sisters series, that was recommended on here.
I'm really enjoying it and feel that I'm getting my teeth into something satisfying, which I've not felt for a few weeks.
Life has been very strange and intense lately so it has been lovely to escape into a good book.
I know this may sound a bit loopy, but I sometimes get the gut feeling that I was meant to read certain things.
This feeling can be quite cathartic when I read something that speaks volumes to me. It's like there are messages from the universe in some books designed to help you in some way.....
Even things I've read on Tattle itself. Some stray or random comment, dropped by a Tattler has changed my life immeasurably.
So much so that when I get round to it, I must copy down some words I read in a book, that I'm sure will have great meaning to at least one person on Tattle.
So you can probably understand why I had to try really hard not to freak out yesterday when I overheard a conversation about my major book source (library) closing.
Luckily as I further eavesdropped it sounded like it was just for building work and not permanent (phew!!!). Hopefully they'll extend the reading time so I can get through the large number of books - quite a lot recommended - that are about to descend on me.
Naturally it is not my fault, but that of those pesky Tattlers tormenting me, by recommending books and new genres, that take me on yet another voyage of discovery.

Going to collect Funny Story and Delicate Condition from the library tomorrow - the weather looks nice for the weekend so I'll be in my garden with those I'm sure!

I’m going to make a conscious effort to get out of my slump tonight. Going to get into bed early with my kindle and a cup of tea and my phone out of reach! I just don’t know what to read I bought close to home yesterday but not sure if it’s one for getting out of a slump? A thriller is usually my go to for getting out of one, so I’m also thinking the passengers by John marrs. Any thoughts would be appreciated
