Would people compare them to podcasts? I listen to podcasts all the time on walks etc so I'm hoping audiobooks work for me
I would say they take a bit more concentration than a podcast. I don’t listen to thrillers on audio as much because I always feel like I’m missing something (I say as I’m listening to one right now but I was mid walk and had nothing else downloaded 🤣) I started with non fiction mostly and now I do prefer books that aren’t as plot heavy but I can and do listen to all types!

Same for me ref nonfic, I’ve only recently got into audiobooks (month 3) and I tricked myself by thinking of a chapter as a podcast episode.

I prefer to listen to an audio book for a book I've already read. Then if I nod off or drift off whilst on a cosy seat near a fire or in a bubble bath I can fill in the blanks. 😄😴

Anyone who might be interested in reading Minor Detail by Adania Shibli . it is currently free gratis and for nothing on Kindle I assume because its about Palestine. It was on my wishlist - so folks it pays to check every day

I havent bought The List from all your recommendations. I'm just about finished The Whispers by Ashley Audrain and I dont think you can tell its the same author of The Push but I have enjoyed it none the less. 😊 would definitely pick up her next book.

@PiesAndLattes I started The Leftover Woman at lunchtime, now half way through at 6pm (stupid work, getting in the way) and really enjoying it. Thank you so much for the recommendation 😁
I have now finished Leftover Woman! Definitely a 5 star, I just want to cry what an excellent read 😭 this book and “A Woman is No Man” are just exceptional.

Is anyone planning on buying/reading the Britney Spears memoir? Noticed it was 50% off at Waterstones if anyone is interested.
I assume I'll just read most of the interesting snippets online tbh

i’m torn! i love a celebrity memoir but i feel like hers might be too sad for me (if that even makes sense) - i’ll probably do what i did with prince harry’s and just read the key parts on twitter. i practically felt like i’d read all of spare in the end 🤣

however for 50% off i might consider it.

I have £80 between book tokens and Waterstones vouchers and £20 in Waterstones plus rewards so I may actually buy this but I do enjoy memoirs in audio format and also have audible credits 😅

Got as far as page 23 in The Queue by Alexandra Heminsley and I'm bored stiff!!!!!
Is it worth continuing or is this a DNF?

I think this conversation has been had on this thread before but I’m terrible for ‘saving’ vouchers and Waterstones plus rewards. No idea what I’m saving them for, could go mad in the post Christmas half price hardbacks sale I suppose..

I think I’ll read it! Probably on audio if it’s available on the apps I use, I don’t think it’s her narrating though which is a shame.

I'm so relieved because I had already suggested it to my book club!

As far as I know, she narrates the prologue & Michelle Williams does the rest.

Finished The Lighthouse Witches last night - definite page turner, with a twist, but some of it felt a bit too far fetched (I mean witches notwithstanding).

Now reading 10 Minutes and 38 seconds in This Strange World.

Me 🙋‍♀️
I'm just torn between reading it or listening to the audiobook. I'd been hoping she would narrate it but given how chaotic she is at the moment I can appreciate why she didn't. From a producer/publisher perspective it likely would have been a very difficult feat.

‘Page turner’ has got my moving lighthouse up my TBR, I’ve been in a bit of a slump and think I need something gripping to get me out of it.
