Have you read any Louise Erdrich before? I find her writing style quite challenging, so I don’t think anything she writes is an easy read, race through it type of book. Having said that she’s widely critically acclaimed and lots of people love her work so it might be for you.
If the chats on these threads show us a thing it’s that every book we buy is a bit of a punt! Regardless of who else has loved it it’s no guarantee it’s a good read for everyone (*ahem* Crawdads!) so I say if you think you might like it go for it. What else are you going to spend £2.99 on!

I finished this on audiobook yesterday and absolutely adored it. Truly couldn't have loved it more. 5* from me. I was TOO invested in the characters. It sucked me in good!Finished the Audio of The Rachel incident
Had high hopes for this Irish lit as its one of my fave genre’s but it wasn’t great. It was an ok listen but i just didnt feel invested in the characters at all and the all that anticipation for the end and it just didnt go anywhere really.

Recently listened to Before my Actual Heart Breaks on audiobook too. Another 5*.
Fictional Irish coming of age narrated by Irish actors is my absolute jam.

Finally finished The Bullet That Missed. Looking forward to the newest one but going to read something else first. I know the Thursday Murder club books are hit or miss on here but I have really enjoyed reading books with older characters that have a little bit of life to them ( if you know what I mean).

I, ten years later than everyone else, just read The Cuckoo's Calling and in discussing my thought process about the murder with my husband, he revealed that not only had he never read a murder mystery (we own a bunch and have been living together for four years now), but he was surprised that I was trying to solve it! Am I the weird one here for trying to solve it or do you all also try to solve murder mysteries (I know he's the weird one for not having ever read a murder mystery, especially as he reads pretty widely across other genres!)?
And also if you have any murder mystery recommendations, especially ones set in the UK as I'm a British person living in the US, I'd appreciate them.

I read Cuckoo’s calling a couple of weeks ago and was definitely trying to work it out!! ‘Who gains from this’ ‘who had something to hide/reason to stop her looking for X’… maybe I’ve watched too much Only Murders in the Building but there’s practically a murder/suspect board in my head as I’m reading!

I have finished two more Freida McFadden books (trying to clear her backlist). They were “Want to know a secret?” And “Do you remember”. Both about a 3.5 star.
Want to know a secret that as too predictable and the other had the worst ending that made absolutely no sense lol. But I saw someone describe her books like reality tv - not exactly great, but they keep you hooked, are a fast read and have semi interesting storylines. I only have 1 more I want to read (One by One) as I am not interested in the 2 medical ones.
On the verge of finishing Leftover Woman by Jean Kwok before I start any other books and it is so good but so sad!

they’re definitely not literary masterpieces but I like that I can get through them in a day.
