Only got my First Reads email this morning! What did everyone go for? I’m trying to decide between The Forgetting and Hollow Beasts.

Who talked about You're the One I Told: The Stories Behind Abortion. I devoured it in one sitting yesterday, it made me both cry and admire those ladies bravery. And feel thankful that we live in a country where the government couldn't care less about what we do with our uteruses. 5/5. I am having a good start to the year with books.

T'was me! I found it a great read. I used a credit for it on audible and it was so worth it. I loved it 🥺

I started Vladimir last night but decided I needed something lighter after Young Mungo so started One True Loves by TJR instead. Flying through it!
Also finished True Crime Story by Joseph Knox and didn’t really enjoy it. I think because I was reading it at the same time as listening to Young Mungo, and reading it so slowly that everytime it came to reading it I felt like it was a chore, I didn’t buy the ending and didn’t like any of the characters.

Late as always to the discussion, but I wouldn’t mind getting Daisy Jones & the Six out of the library to see if it’s worth the hype 🤓📚

Loads of Mark Billingham books are 99p today.

Spotted this book which I’ve seen so many rave reviews about so I caved and got it. Has anyone read it?

Well I know there are others who enjoyed it but I’ve given up on it. Going to return it to get my 99p back. I started The Inmate by Frieda McFadden instead and loving it.

Can you still return kindle books on Amazon? There was uproar about it on Twitter and I thought it had been stopped, but maybe not.

I return them all the time. Not all ones that I’ve bought but definitely a couple every month.
I got an email from Amazon acknowledging my tendency to return kindle books and recommending I try getting samples before purchasing in future 😂

I’m fully aware this isn’t book related, but I found an interesting blog post about the heroines of Disney and how there are a wide variety of women in the Disney universe (?), as well as spotlighting an anime studio called Studio Ghibli that have a wide variety of brilliant and complex women as the leads, as well as themes of anti-war and the importance of the environment. It was an interesting read. Plus, some of the films, especially Disney films are based on books haha https://reviewsofahorrornerd.wordpr...hildrens-movies-also-exist-outside-of-disney/
